Download or read book Genre Changes and Privileged Pedagogic Identity in Teaching Contest Discourse written by Ning Liu and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-01-20 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book analyzes how the English as a Second Language (ESL) pedagogic genre has been re-contextualized in the Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press National College English Teaching Contest (SFLEP) for presentation to the contest judges and audience. Departing from prior research on contest discourse, it focuses on the role of teaching contests in re-contextualizing educational practices. Moreover, it addresses the processes of genre blurring and solidification at work in new discourse events. The results presented here serve to frame teaching contest discourse in a fuller contextual configuration and will help contest sponsors, participants, and audience members better understand this popular social event and its relations to real-world teaching practices, while simultaneously helping teachers to understand the relevance of such contest practice. Moreover, the research methods will benefit those linguists who are interested in researching other types of event discourses.

Download or read book Critical Review of Metals Environmental Risk Assessment Guidance for Metals MERAG written by and published by Nordic Council of Ministers. This book was released on 2007 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Risk assessment of metals may need specific guidance in how to handle natural background, essentiality, and long historical use of metals. It may also be necessary to take bio-availability into account. The aim of the present project was to critically review proposals on principles for risk assessment of metals (MERAG), developed by the metals industry, in co-operation with the UK Government during 2005-2006. The different MERAG proposals were reviewed by different Nordic consultancies, and their views are summarised in the report. The project was initiated and coordinated by the Nordic Risk Assessment Project (NORAP), which receives funding from the Nordic Chemicals group, a subgroup to the Nordic Council of Ministers. This review was considered urgent, in order to be prepared for a possible proposal to implement the MERAG principles within the Technical Guidance Document on Chemical Safety Assessment, which is developed for use under the REACH regulation.

Download or read book Advances in Human Factors in Robots Drones and Unmanned Systems written by Matteo Zallio and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-06-30 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the importance of human factors in the development of safe and reliable robotic and unmanned systems. It discusses current challenges, such as how to improve the perceptual and cognitive abilities of robots, develop suitable synthetic vision systems, cope with degraded reliability in unmanned systems, and predict robotic behavior in relation to human activities. Further, it highlights potential future human-robot and human-agent collaboration, suggesting real-world implications of and approaches for improving human-machine interaction across unmanned systems. Based on the AHFE 2020 Virtual Conference on Human Factors in Robots, Drones and Unmanned Systems, held on July 16–20, 2020, this book is intended to foster discussion and collaborations among researchers and practitioners, thus stimulating new solutions for the development of reliable and safe, human-centered, highly functional devices to perform automated and concurrent tasks.
