Book Fatal Aircraft Accidents

Download or read book Fatal Aircraft Accidents written by S. K. Adaval and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book highlights aspects of Aviation Accident Pathology for doctors involved in the investigation of fatal aircraft accidents. A determination of the cause of the accident requires investigations of both the machine and the bodies that are found in the wreckage. In many developing countries, however, the doctors who are assigned this task are not trained to perform such autopsies. They are, therefore, confronted with problems such as 'how do we proceed' and 'what should we look for'. This book provides clear guidelines regarding the practical aspects of such investigations. It begins with a historic overview of the development of Aviation Accident Pathologyand then identifies the administrative and forensic requirements that can facilitate accident investigations. A specific plan of investigation that includes details about the preparations that mustbe made prior to the arrival at the accident site, tasks that need to be performed at the site and the procedures for the collection and analysis of evidence and specimens is provided.

Book Fatal Civil Aircraft Accidents

Download or read book Fatal Civil Aircraft Accidents written by Peter J. Stevens and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-12 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fatal Civil Aircraft Accidents: Their Medical and Pathological Investigation focuses on relevant literature and discussions of the impact of medical and pathological investigation on fatal flying accidents. The publication first elaborates on public transport accidents, natural disease in the operating crew, impaired efficiency of a pilot due to intoxication, and non-medical cause for an accident. Topics include carbon monoxide intoxication, drugs, natural disease as a contributory cause for an accident, and natural disease as the primary cause for an accident. The book then takes a look at pathological evidence of events prior to an accident, reconstruction of events at impact and immediately after an accident, and natural disease in the pilots. The book ponders on glider accidents, natural disease in glider pilots, reconstruction of events during an accident, survival and safety equipment, and medical standards for glider pilots. The manuscript also examines fatal airliner accident as an example of mass disaster, official bodies and groups concerned with the investigation of an accident, identification of the bodies of the dead, and certification of death and disposal of the deceased. The text is a valuable source of data for researchers interested in the medical and pathological investigation of aircraft accidents.

Book The Safety Significance of Aircraft Accident Post Mortem Findings

Download or read book The Safety Significance of Aircraft Accident Post Mortem Findings written by Peter V. Siegel and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A review of post mortem examinations obtained in 1968 of pilot victims of general aviation aircraft accidents reveals that 51 percent of the pilot victims were studied by pathologists. The post mortem examination population above was taken from 687 pilot fatalities in general aviation accidents occurring within the United States in 1968. The percent of post mortem examinations obtained in 1968 represents considerable progress in comparison to earlier years. Without an aircrew autopsy, the probable cause almost always consists of a higher proportion of conjecture than is otherwise the case. The full utility of the important data resulting from these examinations is going to depend, however, upon the addition of certain quantitative data to that in the current verbally descriptive protocol almost universally encountered. This is particularly pertinent in relation to computer assisted analytic studies of broad scale concerning post mortem findings. (Author).

Book Recent Experience Advances in Aviation Pathology

Download or read book Recent Experience Advances in Aviation Pathology written by ADVISORY GROUP FOR AEROSPACE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT PARIS (France) and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The session began with reviews of organizational concepts of fatal aircraft-accident investigation as developed and ppplied in the United States, Germany, and France. Determination of medical jurisdiction is frequently chaotic. The long-range capabilities of modern aircraft frequently require the application of local, state, national, international, and admiralty law. Simple, logical applications of basic methods of identifying victims of mass disasters were reviewed. Discussions of cardiovascular disease, head injuries, and accidents involving helicopters and agricultural aircraft prompted expressions of frustration at the lack of significant modification of the epidemiology of these factors. Presentations were made of significant advances in the application of special techniques in histology, toxicology, radiology, and analysis of injury patterns.
