Book The Effects of Occipitalization of the Atlas on Facial Skeletal Morphology

Download or read book The Effects of Occipitalization of the Atlas on Facial Skeletal Morphology written by Gaylord Don Noren and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 594 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this study, a series of measurements and relationships of the cranial base and facial skeleton from right lateral and posterior-anterior cephalometric radiographs of each occipitalized and selected normal skulls is obtained. This collection of data is subjected to statistical analyses comparing the group bearing the cranio-vertebral anomaly with the group of selected normal skulls. Correlation data between measurements within each group are computed to investigate cause-and-effect relationships.

Book A hybrid Fuzzy C Means and Neutrosophic for jaw lesions segmentation

Download or read book A hybrid Fuzzy C Means and Neutrosophic for jaw lesions segmentation written by Mutasem K. Alsmadi and published by Infinite Study. This book was released on with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is really important to diagnose jaw tumor in its early stages to improve its prognosis. A differential diagnosis could be performed using X-ray images; therefore, accurate and fully automatic jaw lesions image segmentation is a challenging and essential task. The aim of this work was to develop a novel, fully automatic and effective method for jaw lesions in panoramic X-ray image segmentation. The hybrid Fuzzy C-Means and Neutrosophic approach is used for segmenting jaw image and detecting the jaw lesion region in panoramic X-ray images which may help in diagnosing jaw lesions. Area error metrics are used to assess the performance and efficiency of the proposed approach from different aspects. Both efficiency and accuracy are analyzed. Specificity, sensitivity and similarity analyses are conducted to assess the robustness of the proposed approach.

Book Multi Modality State of the Art Medical Image Segmentation and Registration Methodologies

Download or read book Multi Modality State of the Art Medical Image Segmentation and Registration Methodologies written by Ayman S. El-Baz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-04-11 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the advances in image guided surgery for cancer treatment, the role of image segmentation and registration has become very critical. The central engine of any image guided surgery product is its ability to quantify the organ or segment the organ whether it is a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT), X-ray, PET, SPECT, Ultrasound, and Molecular imaging modality. Sophisticated segmentation algorithms can help the physicians delineate better the anatomical structures present in the input images, enhance the accuracy of medical diagnosis and facilitate the best treatment planning system designs. The focus of this book in towards the state of the art techniques in the area of image segmentation and registration.

Book Determination of the Accuracy of Semi automatic and Fully Automatic 2d Lateral Cephalometric Analysis Programs

Download or read book Determination of the Accuracy of Semi automatic and Fully Automatic 2d Lateral Cephalometric Analysis Programs written by Nicholas Grant Playfair and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: AIM: To evaluate the accuracy of current semi-automatic and fully automatic 2D lateral cephalometric analysis programs. MATERIALS AND METHODS: 60 lateral cephalometric radiographs were randomly selected and grouped based their skeletal malocclusions to form 3 equal groups of 20 Class I, 20 Class II and 20 Class III. These radiographs were then analyzed via traditional hand-based analysis. The values obtained from this method of analysis were compared to 4 subsequent methods of analysis. These consisted of semi-automatic analysis using Dolphin Imaging software, semi-automatic analysis using Kodak Orthodontic Imaging software, fully automatic analysis using Kodak Orthodontic Imaging software and fully automatic analysis combined with limited landmark changes using Kodak Orthodontic Imaging software. RESULTS: ICC tests were completed to compare the gold standard hand-based analysis to the 4 subsequent methods. The values obtained from semi-automatic Dolphin and Kodak Orthodontic Imaging software were found to be comparable to hand-based analysis. Whereas, the values obtained from the fully automatic mode of Kodak Orthodontic Imaging software were not found to be comparable to hand-based analysis. CONCLUSIONS: Digital cephalometric programs can be used as an accurate method when performing lateral cephalometric analyses. The fully automatic mode of these programs should only be used as a support to diagnosis and not as a diagnostic tool.

Book Automated Detection of Cephalometric Landmarks Using Deep Neural Patchworks

Download or read book Automated Detection of Cephalometric Landmarks Using Deep Neural Patchworks written by Julia Vera Weingart and published by . This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: Objectives This study evaluated the accuracy of deep neural patchworks (DNPs), a deep learning-based segmentation framework, for automated identification of 60 cephalometric landmarks (bone-, soft tissue- and tooth-landmarks) on CT scans. The aim was to determine whether DNP could be used for routine three-dimensional cephalometric analysis in diagnostics and treatment planning in orthognathic surgery and orthodontics. Methods: Full skull CT scans of 30 adult patients (18 female, 12 male, mean age 35.6 years) were randomly divided into a training and test data set (each n = 15). Clinician A annotated 60 landmarks in all 30 CT scans. Clinician B annotated 60 landmarks in the test data set only. The DNP was trained using spherical segmentations of the adjacent tissue for each landmark. Automated landmark predictions in the separate test data set were created by calculating the center of mass of the predictions. The accuracy of the method was evaluated by comparing these annotations to the manual annotations. Results: The DNP was successfully trained to identify all 60 landmarks. The mean error of our method was 1.94 mm (SD 1.45 mm) compared to a mean error of 1.32 mm (SD 1.08 mm) for manual annotations. The minimum error was found for landmarks ANS 1.11 mm, SN 1.2 mm, and CP_R 1.25 mm. Conclusion: The DNP-algorithm was able to accurately identify cephalometric landmarks with mean errors
