Book The Method and Practice of Autosuggestion

Download or read book The Method and Practice of Autosuggestion written by Emile Coue and published by Trans4Mind. This book was released on 2011-06 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two Classics in One: Self-Mastery Through Conscious Autosuggestion by Emile Cou PLUS The Practice of Autosuggestion by C. Harry Brooks Self Mastery Through Conscious Autosuggestion: Emile Cou was a French psychologist and pharmacist who introduced a new method of healing and self-improvement using the influence and power of autosuggestion. The application of his mantra-like conscious autosuggestion, "Every day, in every way, I'm getting better and better." Cou 's method focuses on a routine repetition of this particular expression according to a specified ritual, in a given physical state, and in the absence of any sort of allied mental imagery, at the beginning and at the end of each day. Self Mastery fully details his method and explains how the concept of auto-suggestion works to bring about a desired circumstance. Although stressing that he was not primarily a healer but one who taught others to heal themselves, Cou claimed to have effected organic changes through autosuggestion. The Practice of Autosuggestion by the Method of Emile Cou, by C. Harry Brooks From the Foreword: "The method of M. Cou is in no sense opposed to the ordinary practice of medicine. It is not intended to supplant it but to supplement it. It is a new ally, bringing valuable reinforcements to the common crusade against disease and unhappiness.Induced Autosuggestion does not involve, as several hasty critics have assumed, an attack upon the Will. It simply teaches that during the actual formulation of suggestions, that is for a few minutes daily, the Will should be quiescent. At other times the exercise of the Will is encouraged; indeed we are shown how to use it properly, that is without friction or waste of energy."

Harry Brooks Emile Coue, The Man and His Work by Hugh Macnaghten Émile Coué (1857-1926) was a French psychologist and pharmacist who introduced a popular method of psychotherapy and self-improvement based on optimistic autosuggestion.Working as an apothecary Coué quickly discovered what later came to be known as the placebo effect. He became known for reassuring his clients by praising each remedy's efficiency and leaving a small positive notice with each given medication. The application of his mantra-like conscious autosuggestion, "Every day, in every way, I'm getting better and better" is called Couéism or the Coué method. In some American translations it was quoted differently, "Day by day, in every way, I'm getting better and better." The Coué method centered on a routine repetition of this particular expression according to a specified ritual—preferably as much as twenty times a day, and especially at the beginning and at the end of each day. Unlike a commonly held belief that a strong conscious will constitutes the best path to success, Coué maintained that curing some of our troubles requires a change in our unconscious thought, which can be achieved only by using our imagination.Although his teachings were, during his lifetime, more popular in Europe, many Americans who adopted his ideas and methods became famous by spreading his words.

Book Suggestion and Auto Suggestion

Download or read book Suggestion and Auto Suggestion written by William Walker Atkinson and published by Cosimo, Inc.. This book was released on 2010-01-01 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A philosophical study by W.W. Atkinson, Suggestion and Auto-Suggestion is written, in his usual style, like an essay on suggestion. In other words, he discusses the definition of suggestion, the different forms it takes (such as authority, habit, imitation, character, and so on), the influence of suggestion, and how suggestion can be healthy and therapeutic, plus build character. As always, Atkinson is descriptive and holds the readers attention with anecdotes and examples. American writer WILLIAM WALKER ATKINSON (1862-1932) was editor of the popular magazine New Thought from 1901 to 1905, and editor of the journal Advanced Thought from 1916 to 1919. He authored dozens of New Thought books under numerous pseudonyms, including "Yogi," some of which are likely still unknown today.

Book excerpt: The beginning of the twentieth century marked the rise of advanced medical technologies, allowing doctors to diagnose and treat diseases in new ways. Although American physicians accepted the validity of the new science of medicine, they were sometimes reluctant to trust technology over their professional judgment or intuition. Likewise, patients raised their own suspicions about the new scientific tools, sometimes resisting or contradicting the advice of their physicians. Here Christopher Crenner examines a critical period in medical history, focusing on the office practice of Boston physician Richard Cabot. Intimate epistolary exchanges between Cabot and his patients shed light on the challenges presented by the new technologies—especially their impact on the personal relationships between doctor and patient—providing insight into a time of expanding science and radical change.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author hits hard at the manipulation of religion for personal, corporate and national self-interests; and sets forth the possibility and content of a relevant and honest witness to Christ in both private and public affairs. “This is a tract. It consists of four essays about the status of religion in contemporary American society and about the condition of the churches of American Protestantism. “As I find it, religion in America is characteristically atheistic or agnostic. Religion has virtually nothing to do with God and has little to do with the practical lives of men in society. Religion seems, mainly, to have to do with religion. The churches—particularly of Protestantism—in the United States are, to a great extent, preoccupied with religion rather than with the Gospel. That, in brief, is the substance of the essays in this tract.”
