Book Hacerse de Palabra Traducci n y Filosof a en M xico 1940 1970

Download or read book Hacerse de Palabra Traducci n y Filosof a en M xico 1940 1970 written by Nayelli Castro and published by Bonilla Artigas Editores. This book was released on 2023-01-18 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Ideal Weight with a Stoic Will

Download or read book Ideal Weight with a Stoic Will written by Claudio Pardo Molina and published by Babelcube Inc.. This book was released on 2020-11-02 with total page 55 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These steps are based on my thesis that Chile and practically all of America have high rates of obesity because our actions tend to be dominated by external stimuli rather than by our own decisions, which can be dominated by the Stoic philosophy described by Epictetus. In his 'Inquiry', translated from the Greek that would come to mean a small manual. This philosopher had as his motto 'Absent of passions, affections and opinions'. I think this slogan already gives us an idea of the recommendations that I will write in this book and I will only outline them to tempt the reader. * Absent of passions: Generally, we are hungry because the pleasure that food gives us calms our sorrows, encourages us or even takes away our anxiety. This book shows us that passions are conditioned by external stimuli, but first, we must understand what we want so from that point we can discover what we are passionate about. * Absent of affection: We want to eat because we feel so stimulated with a bar of chocolate that nowadays it is believed that it would generate almost the same pleasure as an orgasm. In this book, you will discover that you will be free from hunger when you free yourself from attachment to the people and things around you by lowering your expectations of them. * Absent of opinions: We want to eat because we feel attacked by people who we believed were our friends who finally betrayed us. But this book will show that the idea of loyalty is just an opinion we made of the other person, an expectation which does not mean it is true.

Book After the Decolonial

Download or read book After the Decolonial written by David Lehmann and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2021-12-08 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After the Decolonial examines the sources of Latin American decolonial thought, its reading of precursors like Fanon and Levinas and its historical interpretations. In extended treatments of the anthropology of ethnicity, law and religion and of the region’s modern culture, Lehmann sets out the bases of a more grounded interpretation, drawing inspiration from Mexico, Brazil, Bolivia and Chile, and from a lifelong engagement with issues of development, religion and race. The decolonial places race at the centre of its interpretation of injustice and, together with the multiple other exclusions dividing Latin American societies, traces it to European colonialism. But it has not fully absorbed the uniquely unsettling nature of Latin American race relations, which perpetuate prejudice and inequality, yet are marked by métissage, pervasive borrowing and mimesis. Moreover, it has not integrated its own disruptive feminist branch, and it has taken little interest in either the interwoven history of indigenous religion and hegemonic Catholicism or the evangelical tsunami which has upended so many assumptions about the region’s culture. The book concludes that in Latin America, where inequality and violence are more severe than anywhere else, and where COVID-19 has revealed the deplorable state of the institutions charged with ensuring the basic requirements of life, the time has come to instate a universalist concept of social justice, encompassing a comprehensive approach to race, gender, class and human rights.

Book Instrumentalising Foreign Language Pedagogy in Translator and Interpreter Training

Download or read book Instrumentalising Foreign Language Pedagogy in Translator and Interpreter Training written by Olaf Immanuel Seel and published by John Benjamins Publishing Company. This book was released on 2023-06-15 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume offers a wide array of cutting-edge original research on the implementation of Foreign Language Pedagogy in translator and interpreter training, a still rather unexplored field of research in Translation Studies. It is divided in two distinct sections. The first section focuses on theoretical approaches to this topic. The chapters of this section will offer the reader valuable new knowledge and thoughts on how to update and enrich academic curricula as well as how to make use of cognitive linguistics and to implement a multicultural approach in the demanding domain of translator and interpreter training. The second practical section comprises a series of diverse methods and didactical means of Foreign Language Pedagogy which are creatively adapted to fit in language and translation/interpreting teaching for translation/interpreting trainees, aiming at fostering their translational sub-competences. The volume’s overarching aim is to clearly emphasise that foreign language teaching for translation and interpreting trainees has to be approached and structured differently than conventional language teaching in other academic disciplines. It is useful for scholars and translation/interpreting teachers who want to enrich translator/interpreter training with new interdisciplinary ideas and knowledge which will significantly assist them in enhancing the translation/interpreting competence of their students.
