Laut einigen Studien wissen viele Manager und Führungskräfte über den Zusammenhang zwischen einem funktionierenden Wertemanagement und dem geschäftlichen Erfolg zwar Bescheid, doch die praktische Umsetzung sieht in der Realität ganz anders aus. Denn in Wirklichkeit sind sich Führungskräfte und MitarbeiterInnen vieler Unternehmen ihrer eigenen Unternehmenswerte weder bewusst, noch werden diese aktiv gelebt. Die vorliegende Diplomarbeit befasst sich daher mit den Fragen, wie die beschriebene Situation konkret bei erfolgreichen österreichischen Unternehmen aussieht und wie sich der Umstand mehr oder weniger stark gelebter Unternehmenswerte auf den Erfolg dieser Unternehmen auswirkt. Aus diesem Grund wurden Austrias Leading Companies zu ihren Werten und dem Umgang mit eben diesen befragt, um zu klären, welche Rolle ein funktionierendes Wertemanagement in diesen Unternehmen spielt. Die empirische Untersuchung führte zu dem Ergebnis, dass sich die einzelnen MitarbeiterInnen und die jeweilige Führungsspitze der Austrian Leading Companies sehr deutlich ihrer eigenen Werte bewusst sind und ihr unternehmerisches Handeln überwiegend auch sehr stark danach ausrichten. Ein funktionierendes Wertemanagement scheint daher bei den Austrian Leading Companies eine wichtige Rolle zu spielen. Des Weiteren konnte festgestellt werden, dass das Ausmaß des Erfolges der Austrian Leading Companies mit dem Umstand, in welchem Ausmaß die Unternehmenswerte gelebt werden, signifikant zusammenhängt.*****Companies that consist of employees and managers who are aware of the core-values of the company and who do their business according to these values have a very good chance to be successful also in the long run. Nevertheless some studies in the early past stated, that although a lot of managers are conscious with the connection of a successful value management and the success of a company, they do not even know the companys values and they also do not act according to them. Often it is the same situation with the employees. Therefore this master paper deals with the questions how important a successful value management in successful Austrian companies is and whether the dimension of how strong the employees and managers of these companies do their business according to the companys values is connected to the success of these companies. To find a suitable answer of these questions an online survey with the Austrian Leading Companies was done. The finding of this survey was that most of the employees and the managers of the Austrian Leading Companies both know the values of their companies and act in a strong way according to these values. So a successful value management seems to play an important role within the Austrian Leading Companies. Furthermore a significant connection between the success of the Austrian Leading Companies and the dimension of how strong business is done according to the companys values could be stated.

The research findings are subsequently employed to examine and revise a pre-specified stakeholder management framework which was previously developed by the author. The proposed updated framework is the book’s main conceptual contribution. By depicting a set of inclusive, integrated, and inter-related steps, it is intended to provide an innovative, comprehensive, practical toolkit for stakeholder management. As such, it is designed to help decision-makers to attain the greatest possible outcome from the resources they invest by consciously basing their choices not merely on the impacts for their shareholders, but also and more holistically for a broader range of stakeholders. Ultimately, the book demonstrates how optimally harmonised stakeholder management can serve as a powerful catalyst for unlocking viable business opportunities which serve the interests of business and society.

Mary Dixon-Woods and colleagues (Mary Dixon-Woods, Booth, & Sutton, 2007) identified 42 qualitative evidence synthesis papers published in health care literature between 1990 and 2004. An ongoing update by Hannes and Macaitis (2010)identified around 100 additional qualitative or mixed methods syntheses. Yet these generally lack a clear, detailed description of what was done and why (Greenhalgh et al, 2007; McInnes & Wimpenny, 2008). Choices are most commonly influenced by what others have successfully used in the past or by a particular school of thought (Atkins et al, 2008; Britten et al, 2002). This is a substantive limitation. This book brings balance to the options available to researchers, including approaches that have not had a substantial uptake among researchers. It provides arguments for when and why researchers or other parties of interest should opt for a certain approach to synthesis, which challenges they might face in adopting it and what the potential strengths and weaknesses are compared with other approaches. This book acts as a resource for readers who would otherwise have to piece together the methodology from a range of journal articles. In addition, it should stimulate further development and documentation of synthesis methodology in a field that is characterized by diversity.

Spectacular terrorist attacks on its Parliament and places of worship, communal riots of unprecedented ferocity, lingering separatist insurgency and violent caste conflict in impoverished regions have combined to cause a closer appraisal of India's capacity to sustain the rule of law. This book shows how governance is high when people follow the rules of transaction, derived from binding custom, legislation, administrative practices and the constitution. The key question that underpins this analysis is why do some people, sometimes, follow rules and not others? This study responds to this central question by looking at analytical narratives of political order in six Indian regional States, surveys of social and political attitudes and extended interviews with political leaders, administrators and police officers. It shows how, by drawing on the logic of human ingenuity, driven by self interest rather than mechanical adherence to tradition and ideology, these regional elites can design institutions and promote security, welfare and identity which enhance governance.

As CSR has recently become part of corporate strategy, many corporations are confronted with an employee talent shortfall. This shortfall is attributed to factors from the simple fact that there are not enough people, like Generation X not being able to replace the retiring Baby Boomers to the more complex concept of a talent mismatch.This research investigates this intersection of CSR and talent and examines the impact of CSR on employee attraction and retention, with a special focus on Generation Y. Interviews included 36 qualitative, semi-structured interviews. Results suggest that potential employees are not as much attracted by the CSR programme, but by the values of the company. Results suggest that employees do not necessarily stay at companies because of the CSR programme. From the findings, a practitioners guide was created. This guide outlines the drivers of attraction and retention that focus on iValue, iDevelop and iRetain.
