Book Australian Guide to Uniform Legal Citation

Download or read book Australian Guide to Uniform Legal Citation written by Pearl Rozenberg and published by Lbc Information Services. This book was released on 1998 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This style guide is a plain language, gender neutral, simple to use guide. The Guide starts from the basics and explains legal reasoning and referencing requirements. It also explains how to use footnotes and set up bibliographies and tables. The Guide then gives the rules for how to cite all existing materials - such as books, cases, journal articles etc., as well as the new electronic information sources - ranging from television and radio through to on-line sources, CD Roms and the Internet. The rules given incorporate the recent High Court of Australia announcements about the use of electronic materials. A comprehensive set of appendices concludes the Guide. They give the standard abbreviations for case reporters, journals, courts and other legal materials. They also tell whether round or square brackets should be used as well as other essential, albeit pedantic, legal citation information.

Book The Law of Private Security in Australia

Download or read book The Law of Private Security in Australia written by Rick Sarre and published by Lawbook Company. This book was released on 2009 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rapid growth and burgeoning diversification within the private security industries have extensively increased interaction between security operators and the public. This increased exposure, together with a number of highly publicised incidents, has brought about a heightened focus on levels of industry professionalism and accountability (including public concerns surrounding personal freedoms), and more burdensome licensing and regulatory controls upon both security companies and individuals. Importantly, it has also prompted security staff to be mindful of their own vulnerability in a vocation where personal legal immunities are rare. The only work of its kind in this country, The Law of Private Security in Australia, 2nd Edition is an indispensable guide to the rights and responsibilities of private security personnel and their employers. The authors utilise examples from the industry, underscored by case law, State and federal laws and regulations, industry codes of practice, and ethical protocols. They clearly identify the sources and scope of private security powers and the liabilities impinging upon them. In each scenario, a range of potential actions - desirable and undesirable - is given, as well as the legal consequences that spring from these actions for both employers and employees. The law covered is also of great relevance to police officers, as many of the legal principles that apply to private personnel emanate from the laws that empower and restrict public police. With its clear explanations of legal concepts by authors with years of experience in teaching lawyers and non-lawyers, The Law of Private Security in Australia, 2nd Edition is essential reading for every security company, security operator and private policing agency.

Book Commercial Arbitration in Australia

Download or read book Commercial Arbitration in Australia written by Doug Jones and published by Lawbook Company. This book was released on 2011 with total page 626 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Commercial Arbitration Law in Australia provides an essential and timely guide to domestic commercial arbitration in Australia following the 2010 decision by the Standing Committee of Attorneys-General (SCAG) to enact new uniform commercial arbitration acts in each jurisdiction. The new uniform legislation uses the UNICTRAL Model Law as its basis with deviations necessary for the Australian domestic setting and has already been enacted in New South Wales. These substantive and procedural changes to Australia's existing domestic arbitration law make a new and comprehensive text on this topic essential. Commercial Arbitration Law in Australia will provide the reader with: a background to the reform process, in-depth consideration of relevant case law from around the world, as influenced by the UNCITRAL Model Law, Australian jurisprudence on arbitration law and practice, A section-by-section commentary on the new Commercial Arbitration Act 2010 (NSW), which follows the SCAG's model provisions, and discussion of alternative forms of dispute resolution. This work is a 'must have' for anyone involved in commercial dispute resolution in Australia whether as a party to the arbitration, counsel, neutral or student.

Book Australian Constitutional Law and Theory

Download or read book Australian Constitutional Law and Theory written by Anthony Blackshield and published by . This book was released on 2006-01 with total page 1474 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fourth edition of this work has involved a thorough rewrite. Each chapter has been looked at again from beginning to end, with fresh choices in some cases made for extracts to bring the book up to date for new materials and scholarship and some material rewritten to provide clearer explanation. While all chapters contain changes, some have involved a more fundamental rewrite. The Supplement below, details changes from the 3rd edition to the 4th edition. For example, the chapters on the executive as well as characterisation and the trade and commerce power have been rewritten to provide a more straightforward structure and to provide greater clarity and contemporary relevance. Other changes have been made in order to restructure the book and to provide room for the substantial new material. Overall, the book is roughly the same length as the last edition due to cuts and streamlining. This has also involved rethinking the placement of some material, such as to group together the grants and appropriations powers of the Commonwealth. The material dealing with human rights has been substantially restructured with the chapters dealing with the implied freedom of political communication rewritten to take account of new developments and to provide space for major new cases. The final chapter on constitutional change has also been reworked to include a section dealing on Bill of Rights issues as a contrast to that on the republic.
