Book Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

Download or read book Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery written by Maria Z. Siemionow and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-01-12 with total page 634 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a paradigm shift in plastic and reconstructive surgery from the interest of developing new surgical techniques into the application of new technologies via research based studies on stem cells, tissue engineering and new field of reconstructive transplantation such as e.g. face, hand or larynx transplants. This approach is relatively novel and introduced to plastic surgery within past decade. Thus there is an urgent need to facilitate access to this new knowledge which was not traditionally a part of plastic surgery curriculum. The most efficient way of introducing these new approaches is via presentation of pertinent to different fields (stem cell, transplantation, nerve regeneration, tissue engineering) experimental models which can be used as a tool to develop technologies of interest by different groups of surgeons. These surgical specialities which will be interested and benefit from the book include: plastic and reconstructive surgeons, microsurgeons, hand surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, neurosurgeons and transplant surgeons.

Download or read book Augmentation Mastopexy written by M. Bradley Calobrace and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-10-05 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Breast augmentation paired with mastopexy is often regarded as a challenging procedure since it is essentially two surgeries in one. Because of the complexity of the dual procedure, as well as the careful planning required, many doctors avoid performing these surgeries together, instead preferring their patient to undergo two separate surgeries. These two procedures can be safely performed with methodical planning and intra operative execution. This book provides not only insight and instruction on a variety of mastopexy procedures and accompanying types of breast augmentation, but it will also help the clinician determine the optimal surgery for each individual patient. Primarily meant for practicing aesthetic plastic surgeons, Augmentation Mastopexy -- Mastering the Art in the Management of the Ptotic Breast will also find use among plastic surgery fellows and plastic surgery residents. Unlike some of the competitive literature that briefly touches on the topic or simply provides an overview, the information provided is methodical and comprehensive, providing a wealth of color images to accompany the techniques described. Case studies with long-term follow up are also included, offering not only an understanding of potential pitfalls but a veritable how-to for handling complications when they do arise.

Book Injection Induced Breast Siliconomas

Download or read book Injection Induced Breast Siliconomas written by Gustavo Emilio Schenone and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-11-21 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although there is a current ban in many countries on the injection of liquid silicone, paraffin or polyacrylamide hydrogels or other gel or liquid materials into the breasts for the purpose of increasing size, there are still a large number of non-professionals who use these injections and offer them as a cheap alternative to plastic surgery. The results, at first, may seem cosmetically favorable for the patient, but these injections often lead to painful complications like mastitis (inflammation of the mammary gland) and can make it incredibly difficult to diagnose breast cancer early. Many patients suffer delayed complications that force them to seek expert care for corrective and reconstructive surgery. This book, the culmination of decades of research, aims to serve the surgeon faced with these complications, offering a detailed step-by-step guide of the pathology from clinical diagnosis and imaging studies to the different surgical and reconstructive procedures for reconstruction. As there is no clinical management consensus or international guideline, Injection-Induced Breast Siliconomas: Clinical Implications, Evaluation and Treatment fills the gap in the literature and encourages more research. Previously published in Spanish in 2017 under the title "Siliconomas Mamarios por Inyeccion: Clinica, Diagnostico y Tratamiento", this English translation is a true re-edition of the original version with added updates for the English-speaking audience.

Book Multi level Mammaplasty Anatomical Support And Re shaping Of The Breast

Download or read book Multi level Mammaplasty Anatomical Support And Re shaping Of The Breast written by Amiram Borenstein and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2020-07-07 with total page 103 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multi-Level Mammaplasty focuses on the modification of the Lassus technique, adjusted for the use in breasts of all shapes and sizes. This method relies on an upper pedicle relative to the areola and involves a lower central breast reduction, glandular shaping, and suturing. The tradeoff is that in order to ensure a fine-line peri-areolar scar, a vertical extension is added. However, this vertical scar fades over time and is partly obscured by the breast. The submammary horizontal scar, typical of the inverted T incision, is avoided through progressive gathering of the breast tissue during the reconstruction of the breast mound, precisely through trimming of the excess skin for a short, tension-free vertical suture. Moreover, the peri-areolar suture is not disturbed by the vertical suture with unnecessary tension. Still, in the larger breast, the vertical scar may extend to the chest wall. We accept this tradeoff and discuss it with our patients before surgery. In this book, the authors present evidence to demonstrate that the Borenstein multi-level mammaplasty technique is safe and allows the precise reshaping of the breast with long-lasting results. Its advantages largely compensate for the addition of the vertical limb to the peri-areolar scar.
