Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Auger electron spectroscopy is rapidly developing into the single most powerful analytical technique in basic and applied science.for investigating the chemical and structural properties of solids. Its ex plosive growth beginning in 1967 was triggered by the development of Auger analyzers capable of de tecting one atom layer of material in a fraction of a second. Continued growth was guaranteed firstly by the commercial availability of apparatus which combined the capabilities of scanning electron mi croscopy and ion-mill depth profiling with Auger analysis, and secondly by the increasing need to know the atomistics of many processes in fundamental research and engineering applications. The expanding use of Auger analysis was accompanied by an increase in the number of publications dealing with it. Because of the developing nature of Auger spectroscopy, the articles have appeared in many different sources covering diverse disciplines, so that it is extremely difficult to discover just what has or has not been subjected to Auger analysis. In this situation, a comprehensive bibliography is obviou-sly useful to those both inside and outside the field. For those in the field, this bibliography should be a wonderful time saver for locating certain references, in researching a particular topic, or when considering various aspects of instrumentation or data analysis. This bibliography not only provides the most complete listing of references pertinent to surface Auger analysis available today, but it is also a basis for extrapolating from past trends to future expectations.

Book Auger Electron Spectroscopy Study of Surface Segregation in Copper aluminum Alloys

Download or read book Auger Electron Spectroscopy Study of Surface Segregation in Copper aluminum Alloys written by John Ferrante and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Surface segregation of aluminum has been observed in copper-aluminum alloys by use of LEED and Auger electron spectroscopy studies. The alloys were solid solutions of aluminum in copper having compositions of 1, 5, and 10 atomic percent aluminum. All samples were single crystals oriented in the (111) direction. Surface concentrations five times that in the bulk were observed. LEED and characteristic loss data gave confirming evidence of surface composition changes. Surface concentration increased with temperature on heating to 700 [degree] C.

Book Auger Electron Spectroscopy and Rutherford Backscattering Studies of Copper in 2024 T3 Aluminum Following Electrochemical Anodization in Phosphoric Acid

Download or read book Auger Electron Spectroscopy and Rutherford Backscattering Studies of Copper in 2024 T3 Aluminum Following Electrochemical Anodization in Phosphoric Acid written by J. S. Solomon and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The effects of the electrochemical anodization of deoxidized 2024-T3 aluminum on copper were characterized by Auger electron spectroscopy and Rutherford backscattering. Anodization was performed in phosphoric acid at constant potential. Data is presented which shows that constant potential. Data is presented which shows that constant potential anodization of 2024-T3 is more efficient than aluminum in terms of oxide growth rates for short anodization times. However the maximum anodic oxide thickness achievable on the alloy is less than the pure metal. Copper is shown to be enriched at the oxide metal interface because of its diffusion from the bulk during anodization. The presence of copper at the oxide-metla interface is shown to affect oxide morphology. (Author).

Book Initial Stages of Oxidation of Metals and Alloys Progress Report August 1 1979 April 30 1980

Download or read book Initial Stages of Oxidation of Metals and Alloys Progress Report August 1 1979 April 30 1980 written by and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An experimental research program on metal surface oxidation has been initiated. Studies of Be and of Fe-Ni single crystal surfaces are underway using the techniques of Auger and electron loss spectroscopy and low energy electron diffraction. A detailed study of the Auger line shape from clean cleaved Be (0001) planes has provided a standard against which all previous work may be composed. Progress has been made in preparing clean Be surfaces by ion sputtering techniques, computer processing of Auger data and some preliminary LEED studies have been made both of clean and oxygen covered surfaces. A liquid nitrogen cold stage for ribbon type single crystal samples has been constructed. The composition of the (100) surface of a Ni-60, Fe-40 single crystal has been in vestigated over the temperature range from 25 to 900/sup 0/C. Under uhv conditions only very slight enrichment in Fe occurs. Preliminary studies have also been made of surface structure and of C and S segregation to this Fe-Ni (100) surface.
