Book Sayre Family

Download or read book Sayre Family written by Ralph Hall Sayre and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2003-07-09 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thomas Sayre came with his family from England to Lynn, Massachusetts in the early 1630's. Among descendants of Thomas were clergymen, surgeons, attorneys, ambassadors, and representatives of almost every profession. Francis B., cowboy, professor of law, and ambassador, was son-in-law of former President Woodrow Wilson, Zelda was the wife of American novelist, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and subject of one of his books. David A. was a silversmith, banker, and founder of Lexington's Sayre School. Many Sayre descendants were taken by wars in service to America and never had the chance to win recognition for their inherent abilities. SAYRE FAMILY...another 100-years, in a large part, focuses on the early pioneers who came to or passed through the Ohio Valley of West Virginia and Ohio. At least three direct descendants of Thomas had made settlements in that area by the Nineteenth Century. One, David Sayre, came from New Jersey about 1778, and left many descendants who still lived in that area at the beginning of the Twenty-first Century. The bulk of this genealogy covers those, while other Sayre families whose ancestral links were not discovered are also included. The three generations of ancestors above each family block makes tracing easier.

Book The Washingtons General Index L Z

Download or read book The Washingtons General Index L Z written by Justin Glenn and published by . This book was released on 2018-04-26 with total page 393 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Published in two parts, the General Index of all Washington descendants and their spouses completes a ten-volume history that traces the “Presidential Line” of the Washington family in America. Volume one began with the immigrant John Washington who settled in Westmoreland County, Va., in 1657, married Anne Pope, and became the great-grandfather of President George Washington. It contained the record of their descendants for a total of seven generations. Subsequent volumes two through eight continued this family history for an additional eight generations, also highlighting most notable members (volume two) and tracing lines of descent from the royalty and nobility of England and continental Europe (volume three). Volume nine treated in detail the recently discovered line of William Wright (died in Franklin County, Va., ca. 1809). It also provided briefer accounts of five other Southern Wright families that have often been mentioned by researchers as close kinsmen of George Washington. ADVANCE PRAISE “At long last the Washingtons have a published history worthy of their place in history. Glenn has done a masterful job. . . . I am convinced that his work will be of wide interest to historians and academics as well as members of the Washington family itself. Although the surname Washington is perhaps the best known in American history and much has been written about the Washington family for well over a century, it is surprising that no comprehensive family history has been published. Justin M. Glenn’s The Washingtons: A Family History finally fills this void for the branch to which General and President George Washington belonged, identifying some 63,000 descendants. This is truly a family history, not a mere tabulation of names and dates, providing biographical accounts of many of the descendants of John Washington who settled in Westmoreland County, Virginia, in 1657.” — John Frederick Dorman, editor of The Virginia Genealogist (1957-2006) and author of Adventurers of Purse and Person “Decades of reviewing Civil War books have left me surprised and delighted when someone applies exhaustive diligence to a topic not readily accessible. Dr. Glenn surely meets that standard with the meticulous research that unveils the Washington family in gratifying detail—many of them Confederates of interest and importance.” — Robert K. Krick, author of The Smoothbore Volley that Doomed the Confederacy and Stonewall Jackson at Cedar Mountain

Book A Combination of Rao Wilton Glisson and Asymptotic Phase Basis Functions to Solve the Electric and Magnetic Field Integral Equations

Download or read book A Combination of Rao Wilton Glisson and Asymptotic Phase Basis Functions to Solve the Electric and Magnetic Field Integral Equations written by John Robert Gulick and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Using the method of moments to solve the electric and magnetic field integral equations for the currents on a PEC surface requires a large number of unknowns to capture the current's rapid spatial variation across the surface. Rao-Wilton-Glisson (RWG) vector basis functions 1 have been successfully used for the past twenty years 1, 2, 3,.... Unfortunately, the required number of unknowns is on the order of 100 per square wavelength making electrically large problems impractical. For large smooth objects, the rapid spatial variation in the current is due to phase variations rather than magnitude variations. Thus, using asymptotic phase (AP) basis functions can drastically reduce the number of unknowns 3 for large, smooth metallic bodies. The A') basis flinction incorporates the anticipated phase, hence represents a more efficient basis function for a large class of problems. However, using RWG basis functions for monostatic calculations is more efficient since the matrix entries need not be recomputed for each new incidence angle, as is the case for an AP expansion. One can combine the methods; selecting RWG or AP basis functions for a given geometry based on an element's location within the geometry. This allows the relaxation of mesh density in smooth flat regions not near the discontinuities resulting in a significant reduction of unknowns. This research shows that combining functions is highly efficient and the effectiveness of this method depends on the geometry of application.
