Book Comparative Atlas of Endoscopic Ear Surgery

Download or read book Comparative Atlas of Endoscopic Ear Surgery written by Marco Bonali and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-03-26 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This unique, richly illustrated atlas offers a “how-to” reference guide to the most common and innovative endoscopic surgical procedures for the middle and inner ear, based on an ex vivo ovine model. Moreover, it compares this model to the same approaches in humans, underlying the essential surgical tips and tricks. The transcanal endoscopic approach for the management of middle and inner ear pathologies is being increasingly used, but in some countries the lack of human specimens makes adequate training in this field difficult: in response, the book introduces a novel method performed on the animal model, which allows trainees to improve their skills, while reducing the cost of surgical training. It provides a full description of specimen preparation, and comparative anatomical and radiological analyses of the human and ovine models, guides readers through the main otologic operative techniques (e.g. canalplasty, miringoplasty and ossiculoplasty) step by step, and illustrates the best approach to the internal auditory canal. Written by prominent experts in the field, this atlas serves as a unique reference resource for residents and young surgeons wishing to acquire first-hand the skills needed for endoscopic procedures and to improve their learning curves.

Book Cochlear Anatomy via Microdissection with Clinical Implications

Download or read book Cochlear Anatomy via Microdissection with Clinical Implications written by Charles G. Wright and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-05-28 with total page 115 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This atlas focuses on selected aspects of cochlear anatomy as illustrated by material prepared by the microdissection technique, a three-dimensional perspective not possible with standard histological approaches. Although much of the material in this text was processed by the microdissection method, photomicrographs from conventionally cross sectioned inner ear tissues and scanning electron microscopy, are also presented. Taken together, these technical approaches provide different, complementary views of inner ear anatomy, and offer a more informative understanding than is possible with any of the methods used alone. While micrographs obtained from microdissected material appear sporadically in journal articles, there is no comprehensive collection of such images currently available. The illustrations assembled in this atlas are complementary to the more traditional histologic images and drawings available in standard texts, and aide in understanding the intricate anatomy of the cochlea. Cochlear Anatomy via Microdissection with Clinical Implications will be a useful resource for otolaryngologists, anatomists, audiologists, and neuroscientists. Those engaged in cochlear implantation, physicians and researchers in the growing fields of implantable hearing aids and drug delivery to the inner ear, and members of industry involved in designing, manufacturing, and marketing implantable hearing aids will also find this atlas of great value.

Book Endoscopic Color Atlas of Ear Diseases

Download or read book Endoscopic Color Atlas of Ear Diseases written by Khan Mubarak Muhamed and published by JP Medical Ltd. This book was released on 2010-06-15 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Otology is an intriguing subdiscipline of otolaryngology—head and neck surgery. Ear disorders are one of the commonest diseases encountered in ear, nose and throat practice. The correct diagnosis of ear diseases requires a thorough knowledge of the normal anatomy and its alteration in pathological conditions. Middle ear anatomy is quite complex. Rendering a concrete picture of middle ear using only words had been always a challenging task. The constant effort to solve the doubts of the students in the best possible way was the driving force behind this atlas. With this backup in mind, this comprehensive atlas was developed with lucid and relevant text which addresses normal and diseased state of tympanic membrane, ear canal and middle ear. The atlas consists of a total of 271 colored photographs obtained by using 4 mm zero degree sinuscope. The clarity and the optics of the endoscope give greater information of the ear conditions contrary to the traditional outpatient Bull’s lamp or otoscopic examination. Before discussing the pathological conditions of the external and the middle ear, we have detailed the description of the normal tympanic membrane along with its variations. The appearance of the tympanic membrane is altered in various acute and chronic conditions affecting the middle ear. The alteration in its color, surface, intactness and position has been well illustrated in this atlas. The highlight of the atlas is unique approach of Exploration of the middle ear contents through subtotal perforation and its vast collection of pre and post operative images of Cartilage Tympanoplasty. This atlas will definitely supplement the standard ENT textbooks for a further in depth pictorial depiction of the ear disorders and thus facilitate proper diagnosis for dispensing appropriate treatment for otological disorders. We believe that this atlas will definitely be of immense help not only to the undergraduate and the postgraduate students, the ENT fraternity but also to general practitioners who also get a regular share of ENT patients. It is an update for the specialist treating otological pathologies as it is a “photogallery” of clinical findings accumulated over a period of time.
