Book Fetal Radiology

Download or read book Fetal Radiology written by Reinhard Schumacher and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Intrinsic errors of skeletal development are individually rare but of clinical importance because of their overall frequency and their impact on a patient's life. Sonography has become a routine component of prenatal care, and many of these disorders are diagnosed prenatally. Postnatally, the prenatal diagnosis has to be verified. To this end, fetal radiography is an effective, simple and economic way to establish a diagnosis or to narrow the number of diagnostic possibilities sufficiently to enable pathological, biochemical or molecular studies to be used in the quest for a specific diagnosis. Equally important, a correct diagnosis is required for correct prognostication and parental counseling. This book has been written to assist in the postnatal diagnosis of fetal errors of skeletal development.

Book Normal and Abnormal Fetal Face Atlas

Download or read book Normal and Abnormal Fetal Face Atlas written by Jean-Marc Levaillant and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-03-07 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This atlas offers a guide to studying the fetal face by means of ultrasound analysis. It describes key phases in cranial-facial development, allowing the reader to learn the related semiology from its most simple iteration to the most complex one. The overall examination of a newborn’s face offers a rich source of information and can guide the general examination. The same applies in the context of fetal ultrasound examination. The analytical study of the fetal face not only makes it possible to screen for anomalies related to the face itself, but also yields valuable insights into the brain, the limbs, and the heart. In addition, it allows ultra-sonographers to unravel the puzzle of fetal dimorphism. Written in a pedagogical style, the book guides walks the reader through the diagnostic reasoning process step by step. The authors are pioneers in this field and teach in various university and master’s degree ultrasound programs. Their aim is to share with readers their diagnostic approaches and their knowledge and passion for 2D and 3D ultrasound techniques. Each chapter includes algorithms, biometry curves, and simple guidelines that allow users to go “from sign to syndrome”. The first chapter, which focuses on innovative embryology adapted to the needs of ultra-sonographers, was written by Gérard Couly, a maxilla-facial surgeon and the founding father of the specialty>

Book Pathology of the Human Embryo and Previable Fetus

Download or read book Pathology of the Human Embryo and Previable Fetus written by Dagmar K. Kalousek and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is designed primarily for anatomic pathologists to facilitate their task of accurately diagnosing embryos and fetuses. A detailed examination of the products of spontaneous and induced abortions is necessary for accurate genetic counseling and for establishing the risk for specific abnormalities or another spontaneous pregnancy loss in the future. The growing interest in the defects of early development reflects the profound change in general life-style. In the past, spontaneous abortions were considered a common, usually sporadic event in a patient's reproductive history. Only reassurance and encour agement were given to the patient and scant attention was paid to the detailed pathology of the abortus. Nowadays, however, as a result of reliable methods of contraception and of the availability of reliable prenatal diagnosis for chromosome abnormalities more frequent in advanced maternal age, significant numbers of parents plan to have pregnan cies later in their reproductive life. Consequently, in a case of spontaneous abortion, the question of "cause" and of "future risk" of recurrence of abortion or an abnormal infant is particularly important. In the era of more elaborate and accurate prenatal diagnostic tests, the pathologist examining products of conception has a primary responsibility to detect, in both spontaneous and induced abortions, any developmental abnormality that would indicate an increased risk of multifactorial, chromosomal, and single gene disorders in a subsequent child.
