Book THE WAR IN UKRAINE AND ITS GLOBAL GEOSTRATEGIC AND GEOPOLITICAL CONSEQUENCES

Download or read book THE WAR IN UKRAINE AND ITS GLOBAL GEOSTRATEGIC AND GEOPOLITICAL CONSEQUENCES written by Julien Bokilo Lossayi and published by American Academic Press. This book was released on 2023-11-13 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Russia's invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022 revealed a real rift between the Western clan and Russia with its post-war allies. This rift is reinforced by the entry into NATO of the former Soviet republics, as soon as the geopolitical gla-cis formed by fifteen republics protecting the USSR col-lapsed. This war, accompanied by tensions between China and Taiwan, has raised the risk of a world order upheaval. This book first offers a historical analysis of how this Russian-Ukrainian war came about and to what extent this conflict accentuated the rift between the two sides. The West became cobelligerent by delivering, for example, arms to Ukraine, which fed the black market, by sending instructors, the case of the French, for the use of even Caesar cannons, and by harshly sanctioning Russia, without foreseeing the wave of consequences in the world (galloping inflation and risks of famine). On the other hand, in this confrontation, Moscow benefits from the support of certain developing countries and the BRICS. Moreover, this war is moving to the African continent and becoming a hybrid. Secondly, the analysis highlights the fact that this conflict has highlighted one of the important continuous fault lines in the international architecture of this era. This fracture is characterized by three aspects of dissimilarity: the African perceptions of the war in Ukraine marked by the disparity of the foreign policies of the states; the consequences of this war cause a new look at international policies from a geopolitical as well as a geostrategic and economic point of view; and the perspectives of this war on the course of the world and its evolution.

Book excerpt: How was rugby born in 1823? Why didn’t the first Rugby World Cup take place until 1987? Why are there so few «new nations» emerging in the world of rugby? How did the sport establish itself in New Zealand, South Africa, France, Ireland, Fiji, Georgia and Hong Kong? Are women’s rugby and the Olympic discipline of 7-a-side rugby opening up new frontiers? Why are the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Saudi Arabia interested in the sport? Through 50 geopolitical and international questions, Kévin Veyssière invites rugby fans, the curious and budding geographers alike, to discover the genesis and evolution of this sport, so attached to its traditions and long kept out of the spotlight. The book’s concise, entertaining approach helps readers to better understand how rugby has become part of the global sports industry over time and across continents, and how it has become a formidable tool for understanding the political, economic and social changes taking place in the world today. Kévin Veyssière, 31, an expert and professor in the geopolitics of sport, is the founder of the Football Club Geopolitics medium, which has over 70,000 subscribers on social networks. He is already the author of two books (Football Club Geopolitics and Mondial) published by Max Milo.

Book The Evolution of Illicit Flows

Download or read book The Evolution of Illicit Flows written by Ernesto U. Savona and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-04-11 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the displacement and convergence of transnational crimes in North Africa and in the area of the Mediterranean Sea, providing empirical analysis of human smuggling and of drug trafficking. It discusses the displacement of crime due to the exploitation of asymmetries in legislation, law enforcement, and other vulnerabilities. Using an innovative multimethodology, this volume describes the evolution of illicit flows related to human smuggling and trafficking of illicit goods. This approach helps to provide critical information such as traffickers’ modi operandi, most exploited paths, and trafficked goods, that would not be achievable through more traditional methods. The Evolution of Illicit Flows will be a valuable resource for scholars and researchers of criminology and migration studies, as well as for policymakers and law enforcement working in transnational crimes and trafficking.

Book Judging in the Islamic Jewish and Zoroastrian Legal Traditions

Download or read book Judging in the Islamic Jewish and Zoroastrian Legal Traditions written by Mr Janos Jany and published by Ashgate Publishing, Ltd.. This book was released on 2012-08-01 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a comparative analysis of the judiciary in the Islamic, Jewish and Zoroastrian legal systems. It compares postulations of legal theory to legal practice in order to show that social practice can diverge significantly from religious and legal principles. It thus provides a greater understanding of the real functions of religion in these legal systems, regardless of the dogmatic positions of the religions themselves. The judiciary is the focus of the study as it is the judge who is obliged to administer to legal texts while having to consider social realities being sometimes at variance with religious ethics and legal rules deriving from them. This book fills a gap in the literature examining Islamic, Jewish and Zoroastrian law and as such will open new possibilities for further studies in the field of comparative law. It will be a valuable resource for those working in the areas of comparative law, law and religion, law and society, and legal anthropology.

Book Islamisation

  • Publisher : Edinburgh University Press
  • Release : 2017-03-08
  • ISBN : 1474417132
  • Pages : 544 pages

Download or read book Islamisation written by A. C. S. Peacock and published by Edinburgh University Press. This book was released on 2017-03-08 with total page 544 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The spread of Islam and the process of Islamisation (meaning both conversion to Islam and the adoption of Muslim culture) is explored in the twenty-four chapters of this volume. Taking a comparative perspective, both the historical trajectory of Islamisation and the methodological problems in its study are addressed, with coverage moving from Africa to China and from the seventh century to the start of the colonial period in 1800. Key questions are addressed. What is meant by Islamisation? How far was the spread of Islam as a religion bound up with the spread of Muslim culture? To what extent are Islamisation and conversion parallel processes? How is Islamisation connected to Arabisation? What role do vernacular Muslim languages play in the promotion of Muslim culture? The broad, comparative perspective allows readers to develop a thorough understanding of the process of Islamisation over eleven centuries of its history.
