Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: MEMOIRS OF AN ILLEGAL ALIEN AN AMERICAN ADVENTURE Fernando is a table tennis player representing his school from Ecuador at the US Open in Miami in 1986. After the tournament, with his brother Jaime and his teammate Douglas, he gets on a New York City bound Greyhound bus. Fernando is captivated by the grandeur of the city and, after his return to Ecuador, dreams of going back someday. Three months later he returns to the United States. This time he overstays his visa and becomes an illegal alien. He struggles on account of things varied in nature and overcomes most of them. He also gets to savor some triumphs. He gets married in 1997 and obtains a work permit. In 1999, he gets a DEA-sensitive clearance, and he starts to work in the wiretap department. His marriage ends up in a divorce before getting a green card, and he is in limbo. He continues to work wiretaps for the DEA, Customs, IRS, ICE, ATF, and others. His dedication, passion, and work quality, despite the fact that he is a high school dropout, catapult him to the top of his game, and he is offered to work directly for the DEA by starting his own company. He jumps at the chance, and with great success, he manages to work for the government in some of the most exciting drug-smuggling cases in the United States. Almost twenty-four years after his arrival to this country, Fernando is in need of a lung transplant. He still is an illegal alien and hopes that someday he will get his green card and maybe die a United States citizen, in the country that he loves. His father, an American citizen, filed a petition on his behalf in 2004, and the wait to legalize his status goes on.

Book excerpt: Building a life in foster homes and rebelling a few times to be close to a brother and then a sister led to a life not finishing high school, of care-free money and eventually juvenile detention to hard-core prison. Prison, yes! Scary, yes! Yes, to a scrawny kid with no education and no direction. Luckily, while in prison he found the right friends, combining that with a strong will to succeed and the raw energy to try something new. He achieved many goals from a high school diploma to being a world-renowned weightlifter, still holding the US 630# Dead Lift Title. He won every match he attempted, set over forty-five records, and was the only inmate to be flown out of state for a meet in Colorado. While accomplishing these feats in prison, he had to cope with different personalities and temperaments.

Book Journey of Hope Love Marriage and Overcoming Infertility at 40

Download or read book Journey of Hope Love Marriage and Overcoming Infertility at 40 written by Samantha Fitts, Ed.D. and published by Gatekeeper Press. This book was released on 2020-08-16 with total page 119 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are some women who don’t have a desire to get married and have children. However, Samantha was not one of them. Many women in their late 30s and early 40s postpone marriage or childbearing to obtain their education, establish their careers, and become financially secure. Unfortunately, this sometimes leads to difficulties in finding Mr. Right or conceiving (or both). This can be an arduous and heartbreaking time of life, when it seems lifelong hopes and dreams of family may not be possible. Samantha delayed marriage until the age of 36 after she’d pursued advanced degrees and established her career—not entirely by choice since Mr. Right hadn’t entered her life sooner. At times she wondered if it would ever happen. Once married, she and her husband wanted kids right away, only to suffer a miscarriage and the devastating diagnosis of infertility. In this book, Samantha shares her extraordinary journey of hope. You will discover how her faith in God and perseverance led her to the right husband and overcoming infertility to have their first baby at 40. Don’t give up on your dreams, whatever they are. You still have time. Author Dr. Samantha Fitts is an educator/specialist (special education, literacy, education leadership, and adult learning), professional development presenter, and motivator. She has been in education for over twenty years. She is extremely passionate about helping others reach their professional and personal goals in life. For more information, visit www.samanthafitts.com
