Download or read book Elements of Multivariate Time Series Analysis written by Gregory C. Reinsel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of methods of time series analysis in the study of multivariate time series has become of increased interest in recent years. Although the methods are rather well developed and understood for univarjate time series analysis, the situation is not so complete for the multivariate case. This book is designed to introduce the basic concepts and methods that are useful in the analysis and modeling of multivariate time series, with illustrations of these basic ideas. The development includes both traditional topics such as autocovariance and auto correlation matrices of stationary processes, properties of vector ARMA models, forecasting ARMA processes, least squares and maximum likelihood estimation techniques for vector AR and ARMA models, and model checking diagnostics for residuals, as well as topics of more recent interest for vector ARMA models such as reduced rank structure, structural indices, scalar component models, canonical correlation analyses for vector time series, multivariate unit-root models and cointegration structure, and state-space models and Kalman filtering techniques and applications. This book concentrates on the time-domain analysis of multivariate time series, and the important subject of spectral analysis is not considered here. For that topic, the reader is referred to the excellent books by Jenkins and Watts (1968), Hannan (1970), Priestley (1981), and others.
Download or read book ARMA Model Identification written by ByoungSeon Choi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the last two decades, considerable progress has been made in statistical time series analysis. The aim of this book is to present a survey of one of the most active areas in this field: the identification of autoregressive moving-average models, i.e., determining their orders. Readers are assumed to have already taken one course on time series analysis as might be offered in a graduate course, but otherwise this account is self-contained. The main topics covered include: Box-Jenkins' method, inverse autocorrelation functions, penalty function identification such as AIC, BIC techniques and Hannan and Quinn's method, instrumental regression, and a range of pattern identification methods. Rather than cover all the methods in detail, the emphasis is on exploring the fundamental ideas underlying them. Extensive references are given to the research literature and as a result, all those engaged in research in this subject will find this an invaluable aid to their work.
Download or read book Time Series and Panel Data Econometrics written by M. Hashem Pesaran and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2015 with total page 1095 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is concerned with recent developments in time series and panel data techniques for the analysis of macroeconomic and financial data. It provides a rigorous, nevertheless user-friendly, account of the time series techniques dealing with univariate and multivariate time series models, as well as panel data models. It is distinct from other time series texts in the sense that it also covers panel data models and attempts at a more coherent integration of time series, multivariate analysis, and panel data models. It builds on the author's extensive research in the areas of time series and panel data analysis and covers a wide variety of topics in one volume. Different parts of the book can be used as teaching material for a variety of courses in econometrics. It can also be used as reference manual. It begins with an overview of basic econometric and statistical techniques, and provides an account of stochastic processes, univariate and multivariate time series, tests for unit roots, cointegration, impulse response analysis, autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity models, simultaneous equation models, vector autoregressions, causality, forecasting, multivariate volatility models, panel data models, aggregation and global vector autoregressive models (GVAR). The techniques are illustrated using Microfit 5 (Pesaran and Pesaran, 2009, OUP) with applications to real output, inflation, interest rates, exchange rates, and stock prices.

Book excerpt: The year 2001 marks the centenary of Biometrika, one of the world's leading academic journals in statistical theory and methodology. In celebration of this, the book brings together two sets of papers from the journal. The first comprises seven specially commissioned articles (authors: D.R. Cox, A.C. Davison, Anthony C. Atkinson and R.A. Bailey, David Oakes, Peter Hall, T.M.F. Smith, and Howell Tong). These articles review the history of the journal and the most important contributions made by appearing in the journal in a number of important areas of statitisical activity, including general theory and methodology, surveys and time sets. In the process the papers describe the general development of statistical science during the twentieth century. The second group of ten papers are a selection of particularly seminal articles form the journal's first hundred years. The book opens with an introduction by the editors Professor D.M. Titterington and Sir David Cox.

Download or read book Spatial Econometrics Spatial Autoregressive Models written by Lung-fei Lee and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2023-10-16 with total page 894 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the most recently developed book in Spatial Econometrics which cover important models and estimation methods. Its coverage is rather broad, and some of the topics covered have only been developed in the recent econometric literature in spatial econometrics. The book summarizes our devoted efforts on spatial econometrics that represent joint contributions with former PhD advisees from the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, USA.The coverage is comprehensive and there are a total of sixteen chapters from basic statistics and statistical theory of linear-quadratic forms, law of large numbers (LLN) and central limit theory (CLT) on martingales to nonlinear spatial mixing and spatial near-epoch dependence theories, which can justify the statistic inferences for various spatial models and their estimation. New estimation and testing approaches in empirical likelihood and general empirical likelihood, and Bootstrapping are presented. Model selection is also discussed in this book. In addition to the popular spatial autoregressive models, there are chapters on multivariate SAR models, simultaneous SAR models, and panel dynamic spatial models. Recent econometric developments on intertemporal spatial models with rational expectations and flows data in trade theory will also be included. In terms of statistics, classical estimation, testing and inference are the main concerns, and we provide classical inference for the justification of Bayesian simulation approaches.
