Book Asymptotic Solutions of Dipoles in a Semi infinite Medium

Download or read book Asymptotic Solutions of Dipoles in a Semi infinite Medium written by Kondagunta U. Sivaprasad and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A theoretical analysis is made of the electromagnetic fields in two homogeneous media separated by a plane interface with a point source located in the denser medium. The solution is expressed in the form of integrals which cannot be evaluated explicitly. Asymptotic evaluations of the integrals have been made by many investigators using the saddlepoint technique. In the present work, all known asymptotic results are presented in one comprehensive form, using a modification of the method suggested by Lighthill for the asymptotic evaluation of the Fourier integrals. The regions of validity of the solutions are indicated wherever possible. The advantage of this method over others is its ease and simplicity. The present results agree term by term with the earlier ones of Banos and Wesley (1953-1954), and Paul (1959), who investigated the case of a source and receiver close to the interface, and an arbitrary location of source and receiver, respectively. The results obtained in the report are also compared with those of Stein (1955). (Author).

Book An Asymptotic Solution of Dipoles in a Conducting Medium

Download or read book An Asymptotic Solution of Dipoles in a Conducting Medium written by K. SIVAPRASAD and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A dipole located in a semi-infinite dissipative medium is treated. In the investigation, a new technique was applied to the Somerfeld integrals based on a method suggested by Lighthill (Generlized Functions and Fourier Transform Theory, Cambridge University Press, 1960) for asymptotic solutions of Fourier integrals. The advantages of the method are its simplicityAND EASE. The results are valid for far fields in both air and the conducting medium. (Author).

Book Ozone Absorption in the 9 0 Micron Region

Download or read book Ozone Absorption in the 9 0 Micron Region written by Shepard Anthony Clough and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The absorption of ozone in the 9.0 micron region of the infrared spectrum, due to transitions from the ground state to the v1 and v3 states, has been studied. This report gives the numerical results of an anlysis of the spectrum including transition frequencies and perturbed intensities ordered by quantum number and by frequency. Calculated and observed special contours are included.

Book Effects of Experimental Parameters on Thermoluminescence of a Type II a Diamond

Download or read book Effects of Experimental Parameters on Thermoluminescence of a Type II a Diamond written by Albert D. Johnson and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thermoluminescence provides a method for studying properties of those crystalline imperfections which behave as electron traps and recombination centers in wide bandgap materials. This approach, however, has been used relatively little, possibly due to the fact that the shapes and intensities of thermoluminescent glow curves are functions of several experimental parameters and are often complicated by the overlapping of a number of individual glow peaks. In the present work, experimental parameters were isolated and some of their effects on thermoluminescent glow curves were analyzed. This yielded information on activation energies associated with trapping levels, the nature of the kinetics involved in electron transitions, and electron retrapping. A Type II-a diamond, which has a wide distribution of thermoluminescent glow peaks, was used in this work. (Author).

Book An Algorithm for the Deformation Method of Quadratic Programming

Download or read book An Algorithm for the Deformation Method of Quadratic Programming written by Roger Even Bove and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The following paper represents work to date on the deformation method for quadratic programming and thus may be regarded as a sequel to Zahl, S. (1964) A Deformation Method for Quadratic Programming, Research Note AFCRL-63-132. It gives an explanation of a modified Iverson programming language and uses this to give a detailed algorithm for the Zahl Deformation Method of Quadratic Programming.

Book Improved Method for Quantum mechanical Three body Problems

Download or read book Improved Method for Quantum mechanical Three body Problems written by Leonard Eyges and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The quantum-mechanical ground-state problem for three identical particles bound by attractive inter-particle potentials is discussed. For this problem it has previously been shown that it is advantageous to write the wave function in a special functional form, form which an integral equation which is equivalent to the Schrodinger equation was derived. In this paper a new method for solving this equation is presented. The method involves an expansion of a two-body problem with a potential of the same shape as the inter-particle potential in the three-body problem, but of enhanced strength.

Book A Discussion of the Wheeler Feynman Absorber Theory of Radiation

Download or read book A Discussion of the Wheeler Feynman Absorber Theory of Radiation written by Ronald G. Newburgh and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Wheeler-Feynman absorber theory of radiation is reviewed. A proof is offered to show that a sum of advanced and retarded effects from the absorber can provide the origin of radiative reaction. This proof is different from and perhaps simpler than that of Wheeler and Feynman. From arguments of momentum and energy conservation the necessity of the absorber for the emission of radiation is demonstrated for three cases. (Author).

Book Hydromagnetic Ionizing Waves

Download or read book Hydromagnetic Ionizing Waves written by Allen G. Rubin and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A theory of hydromagnetic ionizing waves has been developed which is valid in the region in which gas pressure is negligible, compared with magnetic pressure. The theory takes into account the energy expended in partial ionization of the gas behind the wave. The usual high conductivity boundary condition behind the wave is not employed. The electric field in front of the wave is taken as a parameter. Results of this theory are compared with available experimental measurements, and show good agreement. (Author).
