Book Associative Processor Application Study Volume I Summary

Download or read book Associative Processor Application Study Volume I Summary written by Hsiung-Fei Lee and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 35 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes work performed in support of an associative processor application study. A GAC STARAN-1000 associative processor (AP) was used to evaluate the capability of a parallel computer architecture to satisfy real time, command and control data processing requirements of the USAF. The passive tracking, radar data correlator and coordinate conversion functions of the AWACS were selected for use in the study. The passive tracking function was designed and implemented on the AP. The performance of the parallel program was compared against that of the sequential version which was measured on an IBM 360/65 computer. The parallel passive tracking program used floating point arithmetic. The coordinate conversion function was also designed and implemented in fixed point arithmetic on the AP. The performance of the parallel program was measured. The radar data correlator function design for AP implementation used a new concept in radar signal processing. No performance data was collected. Book Associative Processor Application Study

Download or read book Associative Processor Application Study written by Brian W. Prentice and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes work performed in support of a research study on the applicability of using associative processing to meet the real-time high data rate processing requirements of the USAF. A GAC STARAN S-1000 associative processor was the object of this study. The work tasks described in the appendices of this document are a subset of those required to complete the RADC research study plan. The parallel implementations of both the AWACS active tracking and passive tracking functions on the RADC STARAN testbed should be completed. The performance of each of these programs should be measured and compared with the performance of their respective serial programs. The tasks required to complete this work are discussed.

Book ASSOCIATIVE PROCESSOR STUDY

Download or read book ASSOCIATIVE PROCESSOR STUDY written by Richard H. Fuller and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 109 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The application of a new concept of machine organization for non-numerical problems to the problem of pattern recognition and classification using associate techniques is studied. The one year contract will involve the study of using this new machine concept of associative processing for different non-numerical application areas. The first area studied which this report covers is the application to pattern recognition and processing. A quantitative evaluation of the associative techniques to these particular application areas is presented. A pattern processor is described which both extracts properties and classifies patterns by means of the preferred techniques. (Author).

Book Study of Associative Processing Techniques

Download or read book Study of Associative Processing Techniques written by Richard H. Fuller and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes designs of two novel stored program digital machines which process non-numeric data by use of distributed associative logic. The first machine is an associative processor, which is programmed to abstract properties from visual or other patterns, and to classify patterns by use of these properties. Associative logic simultaneously evaluates many linear threshold decision functions at high solution rates and with high digital accuracy. Functional behavior of the machine is easily modified by changing memory contents. The techniques used to evaluate threshold functions may also be used to evaluate arbitrary Boolean functions of stored and external variables. The second machine described is an associative file processor. This processor rapidly searches a data base, simultaneously against many descriptors. The processor uses an inexpensive disc memory for record storage. It allows variable record lengths with simple insertion, deletion, or modification of stored records. It allows equality research, limit search, or between limits search on all descriptors within input queries. Block diagrams, command sets, and logic descriptions are given for each processor. Each processor is programmed to accomplish its intended tasks. Applications for each processor are described. (Author).

Book A Cost Effective Associative Processor with Application to Weather Computations

Download or read book A Cost Effective Associative Processor with Application to Weather Computations written by Wei-tih Cheng and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Problems encountered in parallel processing are first discussed in this report. A set of steps for designing a more cost-effective parallel processor is suggested. An associative processor organization with application to weather computations is used as a particular example for system analysis, evaluation, and design. Weather computations dealing directly with the solutions of partial differential equations with more than one or two independent variables have played an important role in the history of digital computations. The area of global simulation is chosen from various categories of weather computations to be studied, and specifically, a two-level atmospheric general circulation model developed by Mintz and Arakawa is used as the application problem to be implemented on the associative processor.

Book Associative Processing Techniques Study

Download or read book Associative Processing Techniques Study written by H. H. Love and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The concept of a general-purpose computer, called the Association-Storing Processor (ASP), is defined, and a model computer, based upon the concept, is described. The computer characteristics of simplified programming and efficient processing of non-numerical problems were the dominating considerations in the ASP concept development. The concept is concerned with a way to represent data and to state problem procedures, along with a corresponding algorithm for obtaining problem solutions. The data representation of the ASP concept is based upon the idea of explicitly storing the nature of the association between data items, together with the associated items, as a data relation. A data structure is created with this data relation as the basic element of data, and data items are addressed by their context of relations within the structure. Problem procedures are stated in terms of a single instruction type which has been designed to directly accomplish the solution of many problems in the area of fact retrieval applications. For these problems a solution is obtained without the need to write a specification of procedure (i.e., a program). This same single instruction type has been made the basis of a programming approach which provides general purpose (numerical and non-numerical) processing capability. (Author).

Book Manufacturing Methods for a Mission Oriented Associative Processor

Download or read book Manufacturing Methods for a Mission Oriented Associative Processor written by William S. Tuma and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 73 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of this program was to develop manufacturing technology that will provide an optimum compromise among functional, electrical, and manufacturing parameters to meet the cost effectiveness as well as the performance requirements for associative processor systems. The program consisted of a 2-month study phase and a 13-month effort covering the design, manufacturing methods, fabrication, testing, and demonstration of a plated wire associative processor memory module and memory exerciser. A method is discussed for employing an associative processor, operating on the output of a radar digital doppler signal processor (DDSP), to improve moving target discrimination and range ambiguity resolution. Functional and physical requirements for an associative array module were derived from the application study. (Author).

Book Associative Processing in the Solution of Network Problems

Download or read book Associative Processing in the Solution of Network Problems written by Vincent A. Orlando and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: AN 4 PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE, TRANSPORTATION MODELS, DATA MANAGEMENTAn associative processor is a highly parallel computer possessing the capability of addressing data fields by content and performing logical and arithmetic operations simultaneously on all storage words. Classical network problems in the field of operations research exhibit a naturally associative data structure and have computational requirements similar to the capabilities of the associative processor. The research reported is a quantitative evaluation of the applicability of the associative processor to the solution of this class of problems. Specific examples examined are the minumum path, assignment, transportation, maximum flow and minimum cost flow problems. The results of this research easily support the conclusion that the associative processor is well suited to the solution of this class of network problems. (Author).
