Book excerpt: La présente thèse doctorale a pour but de vérifier statistiquement si l'association entre le genre et chacun des trois troubles anxieux (phobies spécifiques, anxiété de séparation, anxiété généralisée), évalués par le Dominique interactif, varie selon le groupe d'âge (6 à 8 ans, 9 à 11 ans), chez les enfants de 6 à 11 ans de la population scolaire. De façon plus spécifique, cette recherche impliquait l'étude de l'effet d'interaction entre le genre et l'âge en lien avec (1) des données dimensionnelles définies par les scores de symptômes et (2) des données catégorielles définies par les catégories de problèmes établies selon les deux seuils de gravité du Dominique Interactif. Cet instrument multimédia se présente sous forme d'une bande dessinée et permet d'évaluer, à partir des critères du DSM-IV, DSM-IV-TR, les troubles mentaux les plus fréquents chez les enfants de 6 à 11 ans et les adolescents de 12 à 16 ans. Ce logiciel permet également d'obtenir instantanément deux types de résultats, soit dimensionnels (score de symptômes) et catégoriels (présence ou absence d'un trouble). Afin d'atteindre les objectifs de la présente recherche, un sous-échantillon de 453 enfants âgés de 6 à 11 ans, provenant de la population en général, a été sélectionné à partir de l'échantillon principal d'une étude antérieure sur les qualités psychométriques du Dominique Interactif (n = 585). Deux modèles de régression linéaire multiple ont été conceptualisés en utilisant le score de symptômes de phobies spécifiques, d'anxiété de séparation et d'anxiété généralisée comme variable dépendante. Le premier modèle avait pour but de vérifier l'effet d'interaction entre le genre et l'âge, en lien avec le score de symptômes d'anxiété, alors que le deuxième analysait uniquement le genre et l'âge en tant qu'effets principaux. De plus, quatre modèles de régression logistique ont également été élaborés en utilisant, comme variable dépendante, la présence d'un trouble anxieux définie par les deux seuils.
