It treats knowledge generated by universities and governments alongside "traditional" and practical knowledge generated in coastal aboriginal and non-aboriginal communities and looks at how the different kinds flow in different directions. The chapters are theoretical, methodological, and applied as the authors model their commitment to knowledge transfer in their work with community, academics and policy makers.

[...] The large decrease in effort over the past few years was attributed to abandoning the fishery in 2H (Cartwright Channel) early in the season due to incidence of soft shell. [...] A participant questioned the logic for not specifying Placentia Bay in the bullets, and the response was that it is for conciseness and that in the other divisions CMAs are never specified, as there are too many to mention in a bullet. [...] It was decided that the magnitude of change in EBI is not large enough to predict an increase in exploitation rate for 2015 and the wording "continued high exploitation rate in 2015" was chosen for the bullet. [...] The CPS trap surveys indicate that the exploitable biomass has remained low in CMAs 3C and 3D in the past 4 years and the DFO trap survey indicates the exploitable biomass in CMA 3B has remained high.

Landings & catch per unit effort data are presented for each management area in the southern & northern zones, Labrador, and Division 3Ps (south coast).
