Book Two Phase Flow Heat Exchangers

Download or read book Two Phase Flow Heat Exchangers written by Sadik Kakaç and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 1090 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two-phase flow heat exchangers are vital components of systems for power generation, chemical processing, and thermal environment control. The art and science of the design of such heat exchangers have advanced considerably in recent years. This is due to better understanding of the fundamentals of two-phase flow and heat transfer in simple geometries, greater appreciation of these processes in complex goemetries, and enhanced predictive capability through use of complex computer codes. The subject is clearly of great fundamental and practical importance. The NATO ASIan Thermal-Hydraulic Fundamentals and Design of Two-Phase Flow Heat Exchangers was held in Povoa de Varzim (near Porto), Portugal, July 6-17, 1987. participating in the organization of" the ASI were the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Clean Energy Research Institute, University of Miami; Universidade do Porto; and the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Eng ineer ing, and Mechanics, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The ASI was arranged primarily as a high-level teaching activity by experts representing both academic and industrial viewpoints. The program included the presentation of invited lectures, a limited number of related technical papers and discussion sessions.

Book Boiling

Download or read book Boiling written by Yasuo Koizumi and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2017-06-22 with total page 849 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Boiling: Research and Advances presents the latest developments and improvements in the technologies, instrumentation, and equipment surrounding boiling. Presented by the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, the book takes a holistic approach, first providing principles, and then numerous practical applications that consider size scales. Through six chapters, the book covers contributed sections from knowledgeable specialists on various topics, ranging from outlining boiling phenomena and heat transfer characteristics, to the numerical simulation of liquid-gas two phase flow. It summarizes, in a single volume, the state-of-the-art in boiling heat transfer and provides a valuable resource for thermal engineers and practitioners working in the thermal sciences and thermal engineering. - Explores the most recent advancements in boiling research and technology from the last twenty years - Provides section content written by contributing experts in their respective research areas - Shares research being conducted and advancements being made on boiling and heat transfer in Japan, one of the major research hubs in this field

Book Advanced Thermal Design of Electronic Equipment

Download or read book Advanced Thermal Design of Electronic Equipment written by Ralph Remsburg and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-06-27 with total page 618 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field of electronic packaging continues to grow at an amazing rate. To be successful in this field requires analytical skills, a foundation in mechanical engineering, and access to the latest developments in the electronics field. The emphasis for each project that the electronic packaging engineer faces changes from project to project, and from company to company, yet some constants should continue into the foreseeable future. One of these is the emphasis on ther mal design. Although just a few years ago thermal analysis of electronic equipment was an afterthought, it is becoming one of the primary aspects of many packaging jobs. It seems that the days of just adding a bigger fan to reduce the overheat ing problem are almost over. Replacing that thought is the up-front commitment to CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) software code, FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software, and the realization that the problem will only get worse. As the electronic circuit size is reduced, speed is increased. As the power of these systems increases and the volume allowed diminishes, heat flux or density (heat per unit area, W/m 2 or Btulh ft2) has spiraled. Much of the improvement in the reliability and packaging density of electronic circuits can be traced to advances in thermal design. While air cooling is still used extensively, advanced heat transfer techniques using exotic synthetic liquids are becoming more prominent, allowing still smaller systems to be manufactured. The appli cation of advanced thermal management techniques requires a background in fluid dynamics.
