Book VOC Emissions from Wastewater Treatment Plants

Download or read book VOC Emissions from Wastewater Treatment Plants written by Prakasam Tata and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2003-03-26 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: VOC Emissions from Wastewater Treatment Plants: Characterization, Control, and Compliance provides comprehensive information on the subject of Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions from publicly owned treatment works (POTWs). It describes models of emission factors so that readers will know what to expect when models need to be used for the estimation of VOCs from their specific wastewaters. The authors provide a road-map approach for air pollution abatement compliance so that managers can determine their human resource needs. POTW professionals will find information on VOC emissions from various unit processes such as sewers, preliminary and secondary clarifiers, activated sludge and attached growth systems, sludge treatment, and combustion devices.

Book Practical Solutions for Reducing Volatile Organic Compounds and Hazardous Air Pollutants

Download or read book Practical Solutions for Reducing Volatile Organic Compounds and Hazardous Air Pollutants written by Edward C. Moretti and published by American Institute of Chemical Engineers. This book was released on 2001 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an update of the AIChE/CWRT 1993 publication Current and Potential Future Industrial Practices for Reducing and Controlling Volatile Organic Compounds (C-2), which focused on commercially available end-of-pipe abatement equipment. It revisits the topic by considering the technological applicability and cost-effectiveness of destructive devices as well as recovery devices. It includes much of the valuable research from an early 1990s DuPont Company study of VOC and HAP abatement technologies to assess technical and economic feasibility for equipment using a model stream of nonhalogenated VOCs.

Book Control of Volatile Organic Compound Emissions

Download or read book Control of Volatile Organic Compound Emissions written by Paige Hunter and published by Wiley-Interscience. This book was released on 2000-03-27 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The complete guide to the control of volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions. With increased regulatory pressures on air pollution emissions, there is a growing need for innovative control technologies in a wide range of industries. This timely and authoritative book explores the science, technology, economics, and applications specific to the control of volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions. Engineer Paige Hunter joins forces with S. Ted Oyama, an expert in VOC control and a renowned ozone chemist, to present a thorough review of both conventional and emerging techniques for the treatment of VOC-containing streams. They provide detailed technical descriptions, up-to-date cost data on processes, and practical information for industry professionals on how to apply the techniques in diverse fields. Coverage includes: * Comparisons of the major conventional control methods for the treatment of VOC-containing streams * The new technologies of membrane filtration, ultraviolet oxidation, and corona destruction * The cutting-edge technology of catalytic ozonation, suitable for retrofitting existing processes or control systems * International aspects of air pollution and VOC control * A comprehensive listing of hazardous air pollutants (HAPSs) and VOCs * Dozens of illustrations and photographs as well as references to Internet resources

Book Estimating VOC Emissions from Waste Water Treatment Units Using a Flow Through Flux Chamber and Chemdat7

Download or read book Estimating VOC Emissions from Waste Water Treatment Units Using a Flow Through Flux Chamber and Chemdat7 written by KR. Comey and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 9 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is increasing concern in the petroleum industry for a practical method of accurately quantifying refinery volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) developed the Chemdat7 emission rate model to predict VOC emissions from surface impoundments, waste-water treatment plants, and land farms for regulatory purposes. Previous studies have indicated that Chemdat7 significantly overpredicted VOC emissions. Much of the model evaluation of Chemdat7 used the EPA isolation environmental flux chamber. There are some concerns in using the EPA isolation flux chamber for measurement of fugitive emissions from surface impoundments due to its effect on ambient wind velocity, temperature, and solar radiation. This paper discusses an alternative method for quantifying VOC emissions from waste-water treatment units using a flow-through environmental flux chamber, and includes a comparison of the results from the flow-through chamber with that of the Chemdat7 model.

Book Photocatalytic Degradation of VOCs Toxics and Odors from Air Emissions of Wastewater Treatment Plants and Municipal Solid Waste Landfills

Download or read book Photocatalytic Degradation of VOCs Toxics and Odors from Air Emissions of Wastewater Treatment Plants and Municipal Solid Waste Landfills written by Mita Upadhyay and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments (CAAA) require more stringent controls of sources of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and hazardous air pollutants (HAPs). Air quality managers at the state level are responsible for developing State Implementation Plans (SIPs) to improve regional air quality. Both wastewater treatment and landfills facilities are sources of VOCs, HAPs and odors. This research examines the effectiveness of photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) in treating emissions from wastewater and landfill facilities. PCO rate constants of compounds such as methane, o-xylene, m-xylene, p-xylene and carbonyl sulfide are determined over titanium dioxide (TiO2) catalyst in a continuous mixed-batch reactor. The PCO destruction rates indicated first order decay. Destruction rate was higher for smaller molecules like methane and carbonyl sulfide and lower for complex molecules like xylenes. The destruction rate also depended on humidity. Research concludes that PCO is a promising method to treat emissions from smaller sources.
