Book excerpt: Enter a hidden world of winged vampire warriors—and the women they are sworn protect. Born of Ashes is the fourth breathtaking novel in paranormal romance author Caris Roane's Guardians of Ascension series... For years, she was kept as a human slave—one of seven unwilling "blood donors" for the death vampires who thirst for absolute power. Now, Fiona is a free woman, haunted by her memories of being strapped to a gurney, drained of blood, then revived at the last moment. She lives to avenge her captors—but only one warrior can help her... Jean-Pierre has lived and fought for over two-hundred years. He knows the triumph of slaying a death vampire, but has never known anything like the feelings that arise when he becomes Fiona's guardian. Her beauty, her pain, her passion—and her growing power—consume his senses. Now the warrior must draw his sword once more—and fight the gates of hell itself—for love.

Book excerpt: Embark on a Mystical Journey with the Spiritual Alchemy of Saint Joan Imagine immersing yourself in the life and legacy of one of history's most enigmatic figures. Arc's Arcana: The Spiritual Alchemy of Saint Joan offers an unprecedented exploration into the heart and soul of Joan of Arc. Through the pages of this mesmerizing book, readers are invited to traverse the mystical path blazed by the Warrior Maiden herself. From the humble beginnings in the child of Lorraine to the echoes of her voice that have rippled through time, this narrative unwraps the spiritual layers of Joan's journey. Discover the visions and voices that propelled a simple peasant girl into the armors of faith and battle, leading her to accomplish what seemed impossible. Experience the siege of Orléans through the eyes of a Divine Strategist, and feel the sacred anointment at Reims as if the holy oils touched your own skin. Yet, every light casts a shadow. Joan's story is not without its darkness--betrayal, capture, and the pyre of the martyr. This account does not shy away from the trials that tested her spirit, instead, it delves deeply into the flames of transformation and ascension through ashes. Witness the spiritual alchemy that transmuted suffering into strength, and femininity into warfare, transforming Joan into a legend. But what does Joan's path mean for us today? Arc's Arcana not only revisits the physical and metaphysical battles of the past but also aligns them with modern quests for spirituality and leadership. It unveils the mystical symbols--the sword and the banner--that continue to influence centuries beyond Joan's martyrdom. In these chapters, Joan becomes a luminary for spiritual warriors seeking to embody courage, leadership, and sacred femininity. Indulge in a narrative that gracefully weaves historical events, mystical experiences, and spiritual reflections into a tapestry as vibrant and compelling as the life of Saint Joan herself. Whether you're drawn to the mystic and the maiden, eager to explore the metaphysics of martyrdom, or looking to harness your own divine energy, Arc's Arcana will light your way. Arc's Arcana: The Spiritual Alchemy of Saint Joan is more than a book; it's an invitation to journey alongside Joan, to confront our battles with her indomitable spirit, and to discover the alchemical power of faith, courage, and resilience. Step into the eternal flame of Joan's legacy and let your own spiritual alchemy begin.

Download or read book Christianity written by John Chathanatt and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2024-01-08 with total page 773 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Published in the Series Encyclopedia of Indian Religions, this volume is devoted to Christianity in India, where it has had a long presence, going back to the time of the apostles of Jesus Christ. Divided into two parts, this volume focuses on the history, origin, organizations and local engagements, belief system, worship practices, Rites, Rituals, Christian life, Contributions, Spirituality and a few of the main doctrinal items. The Second Part covers the doctrinal and theological arena. It examines the earlier phase of the history of Christianity starting with the traditional belief of the arrival of St. Thomas in AD 52, moving to the periods of its association with the Chaldean church, the Portuguese, the Dutch, English and so on. This volume highlights the missionary activities of persons like St. Francis Xavier, the creative contributions made to the inter-religious dialogue by such people as Roberto de Nobili (1577-1656) and Swami Abhishiktananda (1910-1973), the linguistic and educational contributions of some of the pioneers like the German Jesuit Johanne Ernst Hanxleden (known as Arnos Padiri) (1681-1732), Herman Gundert (1814-1893), St. Elias Kuriakos Chavara (1805-1871), and, a fortiori, the enormous contributions in the healthcare area throughout the country. Caring for and serving the socio-economically marginalized ones, the peripheralized people formed an integral part of the Christian activity In India, as it is done even today. This is highlighted very much in the volume. It, further, explores the contact India had with European Christianity, showing that European Christianity proved to have wider influence in the Norther part of India, unlike India’s early episodic encounters with Palestinian and Persian forms of Christianity, which had deep influence in the Southern part of India. The volume also highlights the inner struggle among the followers resulting even in its division originating at the Synod of Diamper in 1599 manifesting, by and large, the Church-state ‘love and hate’ relationships. In fine, in spite of the drawbacks of putting the herculean task of two thousand years of history in eight hundred pages or so, this volume gives a rather comprehensive view of Christianity in India especially to those who are unfamiliar with its life and dynamics in the Indian context. The wide range of photographs, especially of the churches revealing the architectural beauty and multiplicity along with the ensample of art and paintings and pilgrimage centers adds to the enrichment of the volume.
