Book As Sure as God Made Little Green Apples There Will Always Be Love

Download or read book As Sure as God Made Little Green Apples There Will Always Be Love written by Susan A. Crawford and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2023-09-26 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A little girl stares with amazement at the big city while she grasps her grandfather's hand... A little boy watches his grandmother struggle to collect firewood with only one good leg and an old chair for balance... A modern Cinderella story about a pretty young girl with childhood dreams and an innocent heart. A handsome young man with a drive for the wild side and a passion for living life to the fullest. Can two young lives so completely opposite of each other form a lasting relationship? This true love story is presented in its rawest, most unedited form through the memoirs of two individuals destined to meet and fall in love. ***** I very much enjoyed this book. It takes you back to a time when America seemed a little less crazy, a little more pure. And yet at the heart of it is finding that lifelong love from the perspective of her and him. That love, as wholesome as apple pie, is not defined by time or era, making the book as relevant today as in the period it was written. A wonderful read. --Margie I could easily identify with the characters as I remembered my first date with my husband. It is truly love that brought them together in this story of faith, love, and passion. --Kathy Chappell Wonderful book as I know the author. I loved reading about her and her husband's childhood and their relationship. Excellent read! --Connie Lucas

But none of that matters. After years of fated encounters, he’s back. This time he’s taking her. This time she’s ready for the ride. Book A Year in the Life of a Vietnam Adviser

Download or read book A Year in the Life of a Vietnam Adviser written by Edward Bowman and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2018-05-07 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During 1965-66, the first great buildup of American military commenced. The number of enemy contact incidents increased, as did the number of casualties. The ARVN were stretched to the limit, with the training of its junior officers limited. Special Forces units in remote areas recruited and trained the local hill people, referring to them as the Popular Forces. Brutalities such as torture and executions by sections of troops from both sides were not unusual.

Book His Name Was Jack

Download or read book His Name Was Jack written by Jack J. Galloway and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2011-08-23 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jack Galloway died in 1987, a year after his mother and two years after his wife, Alice. When Alice, my mother, died in 1985, he wasn’t sure what he’d do without her. I said, “Write. Write a book.” Of course, that suggestion was dismissed when he said he was no writer. In 2005 I wrote about an impending book in my “Up Close” column for a local newspaper. I told my readers my dad was a writer. He had written me letters through the years because I lived 500 miles away from him and Mom. I knew he could write. So I told him to write about each of the horses in his life. I rattled a few off , “Write about Patty Ann, Old Pal, Eagle, Darky and Spike or Harding,” I said. “Then write about the people you’ve known. There was Old Poke Kidder and Floyd Jones, to name a couple.” There are only three people left on earth who can read his writing. That’s my daughter, my sister and me. We hashed around getting the stories typed, organized and printed. My sister’s boys and my children knew Granddad Jack. The great-grandchildren did not, but maybe these stories will give them an inkling of the cowboy he was. Fast forward to today and you are holding a collection of Jack Galloway’s stories and poems in your hand. Putting this together is a tribute to the man who was one of the last of his generation of Sandhills cowboys. He was a personable man who could ride a horse, rope, sing, dance and, unknown to him, he could write. Enjoy his stories.

Book So Far So Good

    Book Details:
  • Author : Ralph Salisbury
  • Publisher : U of Nebraska Press
  • Release : 2013-04-01
  • ISBN : 0803246226
  • Pages : 285 pages

Download or read book So Far So Good written by Ralph Salisbury and published by U of Nebraska Press. This book was released on 2013-04-01 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bullet-shattered glass clatters onto his baby bed; he wakes and cries out into darkness. Does he remember this? Or remember being told? Regardless, he feels it, and will feel it again, bomb bay wind buffeting his eighteen-year-old body a mile above an old volcano’s jagged debris, and yet again, staring at photos of Korean orphans, huddled homeless in a blizzard after a bombing in which, at twenty-five, he’d refused an order to join. It is through such prisms of the past that Ralph Salisbury’s life unfolds, a life that, eighty years in the making, is also the life of the twentieth century. Winner of the River Teeth Literary Nonfiction Prize, So Far, So Good is a sometimes strange, sometimes lyrical, and often humorous attempt by an inveterate storyteller to recount “just things as they were.” The survivor of a lightning strike, car and plane mishaps, explosions, bullets, a heart attack, cancer, and other human afflictions, Salisbury wonders: “Why should anyone read this?” The book itself resoundingly answers this question not merely with its sheer eventfulness but also in the prodigious telling. Salisbury takes us from abject poverty in rural Iowa during the Great Depression, with a half Cherokee father and an Irish American mother, through war and peace and protest to the freedom and solace of university life; and it is in the end (so far) so good.

Download or read book Food written by Robert Palmatier and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2000-08-30 with total page 486 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Each of the more than seven hundred entries in the dictionary contains a description of the historical background of each of the two types of language, literal and nonliteral, and provides an explanation for the relationship between them. Wherever possible, dates of first record in English are provided, along with the bibliographical sources of these dates; and all of the works that record those terms and expressions are given in coded form as listed in the Key to Works Cited. A Guide to Reading the Entries illustrates the typical form of an entry by analyzing an example from the dictionary that introduces five nonliteral expressions, cites thirteen bibliographical sources, and refers the reader to three other relevant entries by means of cross-references. Following the dictionary proper is a Classification of Terms According to Source, in which nearly three hundred nonliteral terms and expressions are listed under the more than four hundred literal categories from which they derive.
