Book excerpt: All praises to the Sustainer of the worlds, and grace, honor and salutations on the Chief of Apostles and Seal of Prophets, Muhammad, his family, companions and those who followed him in an excellent fashion and invited mankind towards Allah, till the Day of Resurrection. This is a reality which can be stated without any ambiguity and Exaggeration, that in the Islamic world of today the most power full, use full and all-encompassing effort, is the struggle of the Tablighi Jamaat whose center is situated at the Tablighi Markaz Nizamuddin,Delhi(India). The scope of this effort and its impact is not restricted to the India subcontinent, or Asia, but extends to many continents and to a host of Islamic and Non- Islamic States. The history if such campaigns and revolutionary or reformative movements shows that, after passage of a period of time,or when the scope of the effort enlarge greatly ( specially when, by means of it, the attainment of certain advantages and leadership become apparent)then such weaknesses, unwanted objectives and neglect of the original goals set in, which reduce or even totally wipe out the true influence of the work.

Book Islam and the Ahmadiyya Jama at

Download or read book Islam and the Ahmadiyya Jama at written by Simon Ross Valentine and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Simon Ross Valentine has written the first scholarly evaluation of the teachings, beliefs, and lifestyle of the Ahmaddiya Jama'at, an Islamic reform group founded in nineteenth-century India that currently boasts millions of followers worldwide. To the great aggravation of other Muslims, the Ahmadis assert that prophets existed after Muhammad, a controversial belief that has led to fierce persecution, especially in South Asia, where the government has declared the Ahmadis to be non-Muslims. Valentine explores other major claims made by the Ahmadis, including their assertion that Jesus, instead of dying on the cross (as Christians believe) or ascending to heaven after the crucifixion (as mainstream Muslims teach), in fact escaped from the Romans and settled in Srinagar, the capital of Kashmir and the alleged location of Christ's tomb. After an account of the life of the movement's founder, Ghulam Mirza Ahmad, Valentine discusses the history of the Ahmadis, their proselytization strategies, the role of mosques and madrasas, the position of women within the religion, and the Ahmadis' doctrine of a peaceful jihad.

Book Sites and Politics of Religious Diversity in Southern Europe

Download or read book Sites and Politics of Religious Diversity in Southern Europe written by Ruy Blanes and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2013-07-11 with total page 413 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, the Southern borders of Europe have become landmarks for the mediatic and academic verve regarding the migration and diasporas towards and beyond ‘Schengen Europe’. In these debates, religion is acknowledged as playing a central role in the recognition of major societal changes in the continent, being object of political concern and attention: from the recognition of plural forms of Christianity to the debates on a ‘European Islam’. Yet, in this respect, what goes on around the borders of Portugal, Spain, Italy or Greece is still largely uncharted and un-debated. With the contribution of renowned anthropologists, sociologists and religious studies scholars, this book critically presents and discusses case studies on the sites and politics of religious diversity in Southern Europe, including the impact of migrant religiosity in national and EU politics. Contributors include: Anna Fedele, Barbara Bertolani, Clara Saraiva, Cristina Sanchez-Carretero, Ester Gallo, Eugenia Roussou, Fabio Peroco, Inam Leghari, José Mapril, Katerine Seraidari, Maria Del Mar Griera, Manuela Canton Delgado, Nora Repo, Ramon Sarró, Ruy Blanes, Sandra Santos, Silvia Sai, Trine-Staunig Willert, and Virtudes Tellez Delgado.
