Book Great White Shark

Download or read book Great White Shark written by Claire Saxby and published by Candlewick Press. This book was released on 2023-06-06 with total page 31 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Follow a female shark as she heads to warm waters for the sake of her young in a lyrical, fact-filled look at one of the ocean’s top predators. The great white shark swims on. Her tail sways from side to side; her fins keep her balanced. She travels the fast lane where she can, cruising invisible seaways. As she traverses her ocean home, the great white shark’s charcoal skin blends with the dark depths of the ocean, her white belly floating pale below. She carries seven pups in her belly, and her job is to give them the best possible chance at survival. Her journey will take her where she needs to go to stay nourished until she gives birth, far from shore. Set in a stunning underwater world, Claire Saxby's signature poetic prose, offset by running facts, and Cindy Lane's striking illustrations showcase the power and grace of one of the ocean’s most misunderstood creatures.

Download or read book A Young Man s Guide to Getting Some written by Malcolm Chenu and published by New Holland Publishers. This book was released on 2017-09 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A MANifesto for Millennials. Not that it's ever been easy, but finding romance in the electronic age is even tougher. This instructional guidebook for young men is all about treating women honourably. This is so rare these days that young men who eschew the booty text and actually call and talk to girls, or show a little courage and chivalry, or know how to act like a gentleman on a date will stand out and attract young women in droves. First and foremost it is funny - written to amuse and entertain. Within the humorous style the messages are clear and the advice invaluable. There are 34 vignette chapters split into four sections, taking the reader from initial preparation and contact through to spooning and beyond. This is not a book about just getting laid. This is a book about making the best of what you have, catching her eye and escaping the Friendzone. It's about being a gentleman, caring, having fun and creating chemistry. And THEN getting laid.

Book Your Everyday Art World

    Book Details:
  • Author : Lane Relyea
  • Publisher : MIT Press
  • Release : 2013-08-30
  • ISBN : 0262316935
  • Pages : 264 pages

Download or read book Your Everyday Art World written by Lane Relyea and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2013-08-30 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A critic takes issue with the art world's romanticizing of networks and participatory projects, linking them to the values of a globalized, neoliberal economy. Over the past twenty years, the network has come to dominate the art world, affecting not just interaction among art professionals but the very makeup of the art object itself. The hierarchical and restrictive structure of the museum has been replaced by temporary projects scattered across the globe, staffed by free agents hired on short-term contracts, viewed by spectators defined by their predisposition to participate and make connections. In this book, Lane Relyea tries to make sense of these changes, describing a general organizational shift in the art world that affects not only material infrastructures but also conceptual categories and the construction of meaning. Examining art practice, exhibition strategies, art criticism, and graduate education, Relyea aligns the transformation of the art world with the advent of globalization and the neoliberal economy. He analyzes the new networked, participatory art world—hailed by some as inherently democratic—in terms of the pressures of part-time temp work in a service economy, the calculated stockpiling of business contacts, and the anxious duty of being a “team player” at work. Relyea calls attention to certain networked forms of art—including relational aesthetics, multiple or fictive artist identities, and bricolaged objects—that can be seen to oppose the values of neoliberalism rather than romanticizing and idealizing them. Relyea offers a powerful answer to the claim that the interlocking functions of the network—each act of communicating, of connecting, or practice—are without political content.
