Download or read book The Creative Soul written by Lawrence H. Staples and published by Fisher King Press. This book was released on 2009 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who we most deeply are is mirrored in our artistic work. Our need for mirroring simultaneously attracts us to and repels us from our creative callings and relationships. It is one of life's great dilemmas. Artist's block and lover's block flow from the same pool. Often, we fear deeply the very thing needed to create original art, to experience intimate relationships and to live authentic lives: we are frightened by the impulse to be fully revealed to ourselves, and to others, as this most often entails exposing the unacceptable shadowy aspects of our humanity and risking rejection. Mirrors in all their manifold guises permit us to safely see and experience ourselves in reflection and become better acquainted with the rejected, ostracized aspects of our personalities. Creative work is one of the few places where we can truly express and witness lost aspects of our authentic selves. Within us a treasure beckons. This is what we spend our lives pursuing. What slows and distracts us is not the object we long for, but where we search. To find this precious gem, we must eventually return to our own creative spirits.

McManus not only calls us to reclaim our creative essence but reveals how we can craft our lives into a work of art. There are no shortcuts to quality, and McManus celebrates the spiritual process that can help us discover our true selves. McManus demonstrates that we all carry within us the essence of an artist. We all need to create, to be a part of a process that brings to the world something beautiful, good, and true, in order to allow our souls to come to life. It's not only the quality of the ingredients we use to build our lives that matter, but the care we bring to the process itself. Just like baking artisan bread, it's a process that's crafted over time. And God has something to say about how we craft our lives. With poignant, inspirational stories and insights from art, life, history, and scripture interspersed throughout, McManus walks readers through the process of crafting a life of beauty and wonder.

Even those who swear they can't paint, write, compose, or build can express creativity in everyday activities that revitalize and nourish their spiritual well-being. Download or read book Lily the Quarantine Cat written by L Bulbeck and published by Blurb. This book was released on 2020-06-12 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My name is Julie G Fox. I am a children's author and a human mummy to Lily, the calico cat. Before the lockdown of 2020, Lily used to cross the road from our house in the village of Guilsborough, Northamptonshire to visit a local preschool and a primary school to play with the children. But then both schools had to close. A week or two later, I started receiving messages from the local parents saying that Lily was now visiting children in their own homes. Not all of the families in Guilsborough, of course, have pets. So Lily was especially appreciated as a play companion and a calming influence on the children during the difficult times the families went through in the spring of 2020. I decided to write Lily's story and to invite the local children to draw the pictures of Lily, as well as of their lives during the lockdown, so I could include these in the book alongside the illustrations by a professional artist. I am now happy to share the finished book not only with the children in our village but also with the children who were affected by the 2020 pandemic around the world.

Artists of all stripes and stations in life--poets or painters, potters or photographers--will discover how traditions of Benedictine, Celtic, and desert spirituality can offer new sources of inspiration for their work. Through this twelve-week course, themes like "Sacred Tools and Sacred Space," "Creative Solitude and Community," and "Nature as a Source of Revelation and Inspiration" are enriched by Paintner's perceptive discussion and enhanced by insightful quotations from well-known artists and writers. Each week offers suggestions for grounding both the creative and the spiritual life through three basic practices: walking, lectio divina, and journaling. In sync with Paintner's vibrant Internet presence, The Artist's Rule is supplemented with online resources, including guided meditation podcasts, video lessons, and discussions.

  • Pages : 242 pages

Download or read book Soulforce written by Joseph Arnold and published by WorldChangers Media. This book was released on 2024-08-19 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Through the unique Soulforce Arts Approach, you will be able to breath new life into your creative works and bring a newfound passion to your art. Many artists, musicians, and creatives share a secret fear: that their art doesn’t really matter, and that it isn’t practical or useful enough to make a tangible contribution to a world in need. This couldn’t be further from the truth. The purpose of art is to bring us more alive, to connect us with something bigger than our individual selves, to inspire, heal, and bring us together. These are universal human needs whose fulfillment provides a necessary sense of meaning, purpose, and belonging, and without which life becomes a dry, dusty bone. However, in order to make art that fulfills this purpose, you first must surmount the challenges inherent to creating art in an extractive, consumer-driven society. This thought-provoking book examines how Soulforce—the transformative energy that comes from facing creative challenges from a place of wholeness, aliveness, and connection—can breathe new life into your creative works and empower you to have a new experience of your art and its impact on you, your community, and the world. Through his unique Soulforce Arts Approach, Arnold empowers us to see art through the lens of deep humanity and interbeing, and presents a curriculum to help us move from fear, doubt, and disconnection to a place where art becomes a tangible expression of love, life, and the divine in all of us. A must-read for fans of Julia Cameron and Alex Grey, Soulforce is a primer for a new generation of artists and creatives who are ready to claim their true potential as creative forces for change.
