Download or read book Artistic Nude Poses 200 New Classic Model Images written by Joel Gilgoff and published by . This book was released on 2006-01 with total page 55 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Beautiful models with 200 color images. When starting a photo session with a new or inexperienced model, there exists a natural tension between the photographer and model. This guide can be used as a starting point for more unique poses and as a way of breaking the ice in a photo session with the new model. This book was created to assist both the novice and professional photographer -- or graphic artist - to develop more interesting images. The images in this book were used as the basis of my 5 published books: Ink: A Celebration of Women, Women of Color, Painted Ladies, Wild Women, and Designer Birthday Suits. The photos of the models shown in this posing book were body painted in Adobe Photoshop to create my final book images. Model Credits: Lissa, Jill Valdisar, Tiffany Garrett, Crystal, Khrystyne, Lieu-Pink, Tomiko, Deanne, Natalia, Natalie Demore

Book excerpt: Photographers are always looking for perfect light. Unfortunately, the quality of available light, and the situations in which photos are created, are rarely perfect. This is especially true when photographing weddings or portraits on location. So while finding beautiful existing light is every photographer’s ideal, it isn’t always possible. This is the point at which photographers tend to reach for a portable, on-camera flash. Indeed, these intense light sources can prove invaluable, but only if you know how to use them effectively. In the hands of an inexperienced photographer, on-camera flash will produce images that look flat and lifeless—images with harsh shadows, washed-out skin tones, cavernous black backgrounds, and other unappealing visual characteristics. In this book, acclaimed wedding and portrait photographer Neil van Niekerk shows you how to avoid the pitfalls photographers new to speedlights often encounter so that you can produce professional images using on-camera flash. You’l learn to use simple accessories to manipulate the quality of light from your flash and how to improve a lighting scenario by enhancing rather than overwhelming the existing light. When the available light is too low and too uneven to be combined with flash, he shows you how to override it completely with flash and, with some thought and careful application of specialized techniques, still get results that look great. On-camera flash is one of the most challenging light sources to master, but with the techniques in this book you’ll learn to use it with confidence. For wedding and environmental portrait photographers who must work in ever-changing lighting scenarios, this can mean better images and better sales.

Book The Essential Photography Workbook

Download or read book The Essential Photography Workbook written by Stephen Dantzig and published by Amherst Media. This book was released on 2015-04-14 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stephen and Joan Dantzig operate the Hawaii School of Photography and have been turning point-and-shoot photographers into photographic artists for more than five years. In this book, they put their wisdom to paper with a promise to help readers rise up and learn this powerful practice from the ground up. Photography is more popular than ever. We are inundated with images by the traditional media and now, increasingly, in social media. Every day, countless amateurs who've enjoyed using cell-phone cameras or simple, automatic-everything-point-and-shoot cameras decide to take the plunge and buy an SLR—a camera with all the bells and whistles that allows complete control over the way an image is recorded. Too often, those cameras collect dust because the users lack the necessary guidance. This book is designed to show readers the ropes of SLR photography. Beginning with a look at the components of SLRs and moving into the modes/options than come standard on today’s cameras, readers will learn to understand and use their cameras. With the basics under their belts, they’ll move on to understanding the basic tenets of photography—specifically, the art of capturing an accurate exposure. From there, readers will learn how to use their exposure controls to depict a subject or scene creatively—from determining how much of the scene should be in focus or obscured by a beautiful bokeh (desirable blur) for effect, to deciding whether to freeze motion or elicit the feeling of movement. Readers will learn what constitutes the “right” light for photography, and how to use highlight and shadow to create drama and add interest and a sense of dimension in their images. Information is presented on composition (the artful arrangement of the elements of the scene within the confines of the frame in a way that excites the viewer), adding artificial light, and much more. All concepts are reinforced by the introduction of 43 skill-building and concept-reinforcing self-assignments designed to heighten understanding and boost confidence. With lushly illustrated pages and concise, jargon-free, easy-access lessons, this book is an important resource for all beginning photographers.

Book Exposure Made Easy

Download or read book Exposure Made Easy written by and published by Amherst Media. This book was released on 2016-08-22 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Photographers must adjust their aperture, shutter speed, and ISO (collectively, exposure settings) to produce an image that is not too light (overexposed) or too dark (underexposed). With a proper exposure, there is a full range of tones from light to dark, detail in the highlights and shadows, and good image color. Exposure settings can also be used for creative effect — using a fast shutter speed can freeze motion, while using a slow shutter speed can produce an artistic blur. A wide aperture (large lens opening) is used to limit the image area, from front to back, that appears sharp (this can make the subject stand out); a narrow aperture (small opening) is used to record everything the lens “sees” as tack-sharp. With judicious use of these controls and, in some cases, the introduction of flash to bring up the light levels, photographers have the tools needed to craft powerful portraits and capture the majesty of nature.
