Download or read book Ethiopia written by Lawrence Henry Ed.D and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2020-09-14 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a systemic examination of prophecies and instructions to Ethiopia by God. They show how God used Ethiopia to ensure the continuation of the chosen people, supporting the kingdom of heaven. There are many prophecies and signs specifically referenced to Ethiopia and the Ethiopian people. In many verses, Ethiopia is specifically addressed to come to the aid and/or support prophets spreading Christianity. It would be hard to overstate the impact of Ethiopia on the advancement of Christianity. For example, King Tirhakah, the Ethiopian king of Egypt/Ethiopia, intervened to save Judah in the year 620 BC. This event is well documented in the Bible and other ancient writings. If we fast-forward two thousand years, we find the Ethiopian Church of today that has a membership of between 40 and 46 million; Christians which make up about 60 percent of the total population of the country. Ethiopia was also the first country to declare Christianity a state religion and had never been occupied by a foreign country. This book will explain how God commissioned the Ethiopians to work for the kingdom of God and to spread Christianity geographically and ethically to the ends of the earth. The relationship between God and the Ethiopia people represent the greatest story never told until now. Writing this book was a very difficult task; I relied on the Lord and his wisdom. I was guided by Philippians 1:6: "Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." This book represents a story that needed to be told and God-inspired.

Download or read book Where the Wild Coffee Grows written by Jeff Koehler and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2017-11-14 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Enchanting . . . An absorbing narrative of politics, ecology, and economics."--New York Times Book Review (Editor's Choice) "A must-read for coffee enthusiasts."--Smithsonian (Best of the Year) "Reads like an engaging multimystery detective novel."--Wall Street Journal "Fascinating . . . How a local crop transformed into a global commodity."--Real Simple (Best of the Month) Coffee is one of the largest and most valuable commodities in the world. This is the story of its origins, its history, and the threat to its future, by the IACP Award–winning author of Darjeeling. Located between the Great Rift Valley and the Nile, the cloud forests in southwestern Ethiopia are the original home of Arabica, the most prevalent and superior of the two main species of coffee being cultivated today. Virtually unknown to European explorers, the Kafa region was essentially off-limits to foreigners well into the twentieth century, which allowed the world’s original coffee culture to develop in virtual isolation in the forests where the Kafa people continue to forage for wild coffee berries. Deftly blending in the long, fascinating history of our favorite drink, award-winning author Jeff Koehler takes readers from these forest beginnings along the spectacular journey of its spread around the globe. With cafés on virtually every corner of every town in the world, coffee has never been so popular--nor tasted so good. Yet diseases and climate change are battering production in Latin America, where 85 percent of Arabica grows. As the industry tries to safeguard the species’ future, breeders are returning to the original coffee forests, which are under threat and swiftly shrinking. "The forests around Kafa are not important just because they are the origin of a drink that means so much to so many," writes Koehler. "They are important because deep in their shady understory lies a key to saving the faltering coffee industry. They hold not just the past but also the future of coffee."
Download or read book Great Awakenings written by David Horn and published by Hendrickson Publishers. This book was released on 2022-05-03 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an engaging look at spiritual awakenings that have happened in the church throughout history. It examines how these extraordinary movements of God translate into the larger cultural analysis of today. Spiritual awakenings have refreshed the people of God from the very origins of the church. What about these past movements can be instructive for the church today? Can we expect God’s awakening presence in our day? These questions brought about the “Surprising Work of God Conference” in the fall of 2015 in which speakers traced awakening movements from the Old and New Testaments to the present day. Great Awakenings represents the culmination of this conference as the collected works of notable speakers. Chapters address questions about spiritual awakenings through historical, theological, and sociological lenses. They look at the events that precipitated these awakenings, evaluating whether their causes were purely religious or otherwise, and finally suggest what about the awakenings is normative for the church today.

Download or read book Empire in Retreat written by Victor Bulmer-Thomas and published by Yale University Press. This book was released on 2018-03-27 with total page 461 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A sweeping history of the United States through the lens of empire—and an incisive look forward as the nation retreats from the global stage A respected authority on international relations and foreign policy, Victor Bulmer-Thomas offers a grand survey of the United States as an empire. From its territorial expansion after independence, through hegemonic rule following World War II, to the nation’s current imperial retreat, the United States has had an uneasy relationship with the idea of itself as an empire. In this book Bulmer-Thomas offers three definitions of empire—territorial, informal, and institutional—that help to explain the nation’s past and forecast a future in which the United States will cease to play an imperial role. Arguing that the move toward diminished geopolitical dominance reflects the aspirations of most U.S. citizens, he asserts that imperial retreat does not necessarily mean national decline and may ultimately strengthen the nation-state. At this pivotal juncture in American history, Bulmer-Thomas’s uniquely global perspective will be widely read and discussed across a range of fields.

Download or read book American Crisis The Collapse of Christian Culture written by William D. Howard and published by Ambassador International. This book was released on 2024-02-19 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All Americans know we are in a state of cultural crisis, but how did we get to this point? It has been said, if we seek an actual legal date for the fall of Judeo-Christian culture in America, it would be June 26, 2015, the day the Supreme Court ruled that homosexual marriage was a constitutionally protected right. But according to William D. Howard, the destruction of our country started well before that when states began changing laws and incorporating changes that had lasting repercussions on the culture as a whole. In American Crisis: The Collapse of Christian Culture, Howard takes an in-depth look at civilizations in the past, provides insights on our current culture, and warns of a future that can mean only the destruction of everything we hold dear. But this book is not without hope. Howard uses God’s Word to show Christians how we can counter the social and political norms and fight for our country’s moral, political, and social outlook. As our moral high ground is being chipped away one corner at a time, we need to take up the call to action and fight against the powers that seek our demise.
