Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Chemistry of Cyclobutanes provides an in depth and comprehensive review of cyclobutanes and includes chapters on the theoretical and computational foundations; on analytical and spectroscopical aspects with dedicated chapters on Mass Spectrometry, NMR and IR/UV. There are also extensive application examples enabling the reader to collect both a theoretical and practical understanding. The Chemistry of Functional Groups Series was originally founded by Saul Patai (1918-1998) and in the 39 years of publishing has produced more than 100 volumes, providing outstanding reviews on all aspects of functional groups including analytical, physical and synthetic and applied chemistry. Saul Patai has been helped by outstanding editors, especially Zvi Rappoport who has now taken responsibility for the series to continue the tradition of producing high quality reviews with editors such as Y. Apeloig, I. Marek and J. Liebman.

Book Experimental Studies of the Knock limited Blending Characteristics of Aviation Fuels

Download or read book Experimental Studies of the Knock limited Blending Characteristics of Aviation Fuels written by I. L. Drell and published by . This book was released on 1947 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The knock-limited power at various blend compositions for several aromatics and cycloparaffins individually blended with paraffinic base stocks, as determined in an air-cooled aircraft-engine cylinder at fuel-air ratios of 0.07 and 0.10 is presented. An analysis of the data leads to the conclusion that the extended reciprocal blending relation suggested in a previous NACA report is not generally applicable to such nonparaffinic components, but might possibly be useful as an approximation over a limited range of composition for aromatic blends.

Book Experimental and Kinetic Modeling Study of Cyclohexane and Its Mono alkylated Derivatives Combustion

Download or read book Experimental and Kinetic Modeling Study of Cyclohexane and Its Mono alkylated Derivatives Combustion written by Zhandong Wang and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-01-23 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis investigates the combustion chemistry of cyclohexane, methylcyclohexane, and ethylcyclohexane on the basis of state-of-the-art synchrotron radiation photoionization mass spectrometry experiments, quantum chemistry calculations, and extensive kinetic modeling. It explores the initial decomposition mechanism and distribution of the intermediates, proposes a novel formation mechanism of aromatics, and develops a detailed kinetic model to predict the three cycloalkanes’ combustion properties under a wide range of conditions. Accordingly, the thesis provides an essential basis for studying much more complex cycloalkanes in transport fuels and has applications in engine and fuel design, as well as emission control.

Book Remediation of Petroleum Contaminated Soils

Download or read book Remediation of Petroleum Contaminated Soils written by Eve Riser-Roberts and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-11-25 with total page 580 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book combines the results of current research with essential background material to provide complete, in-depth coverage of every aspect of in situ and ex situ bioremediation, as well as an extensive overview of the physical and chemical processes currently available for treating petroleum-contaminated soils. Critical information has been collected and assembled under one cover to provide a convenient reference for anyone who must contend with this worldwide problem. Remediation of Petroleum Contaminated Soils: Biological, Physical, and Chemical Processes describes how to optimize the biodegradation of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil-water systems. It reports on the susceptibility of various petroleum components to biodegradation by microorganisms, and considers all groups of microorganisms for their potential contributions. The book also deals with problem areas such as the transport of organisms, oxygen, or nutrients throughout the subsurface, as well as biodegradation of polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and nonaqueous phase liquids (NAPLs). In addition, the book presents a variety of methods for monitoring bioremediation. This reference discusses current soil remediation processes and includes many innovative approaches. It also investigates means of controlling volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and leachate, and addresses methods for collecting and treating these secondary waste streams. The expansive coverage of this book will furnish readers with a wide range of options for developing treatment strategies and for customizing procedures for specific requirements.
