The next twenty two chapters discuss the types of morphemes and word classes, and detail the morphology of each word class and the structure of clausal constituents, such as predicate, noun phrase, postpositional phrases, serial verb constructions, etc.). Nouns and pronouns inflect for number and case. Number distinguishes singular, plural and dual. Complete conflation of the possessive and ergative case occurs in the nominal paradigm. In the Pronominal paradigm the possessive case has distinct forms in the first and second person singular. Relational nouns and locational nouns are special subclasses of nouns. Categories expressed in the verb are tense, mood, modality, evidentiality, aspect, directionals and posturals. Araona has a variety of valency-changing devices. The last chapter deals specifically with subordinate clauses and direct and indirect speech reports, and their functions. Four illustrative texts are given in the appendix; they are fully analysed, and supplied with morpheme-per-morphene gloss, and free translations. The relevant linguistic and anthropological literature is listed in the references.
