Book Approche thermique de la collision continentale dans le Massif Central fran ais

Download or read book Approche thermique de la collision continentale dans le Massif Central fran ais written by Laurence Mercier and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: UN CERTAIN NOMBRE DE PROBLEMES RELATIFS A L'EVOLUTION THERMIQUE D'UNE ZONE DE COLLISION COMME LE MASSIF CENTRAL FRANCAIS SONT POSES A PARTIR DE L'EXEMPLE DES NAPPES DE L'ARTENSE. AU COURS DE LA COLLISION CONTINENTALE, LES EVENEMENTS TECTONIQUES INDUISENT UNE PERTURBATION THERMIQUE DE GRANDE AMPLITUDE. L'ETUDE DU RETOUR A UN ETAT STABLE EST LE PROPOS DES MODELES THERMIQUES DONT ON PRESENTE LES PRINCIPES ET LES RESULTATS DANS LE CHAPITRE 1. DANS LE CHAPITRE 2, L'ETUDE STRUCTURALE ET PETROGRAPHIQUE DES NAPPES DE L'ARTENSE PERMET DE DENOMBRER DEUX UNITES A EVOLUTIONS METAMORPHIQUES CONTRASTEES: UNE UNITE SUPERIEURE DES GNEISS QUI A SUBI UN ENFOUISSEMENT PRECOCE, PUIS UNE REMONTEE ADIABATIQUE; ET UNE UNITE INFERIEURE DES GNEISS QUI PRESENTE UNE EVOLUTION RETROGRADE DEPUIS LES CONDITIONS DU FACIES AMPHIBOLITE. LA SIGNIFICATION THERMO-MECANIQUE DE L'EVOLUTION DES ASSEMBLAGES DE HAUTE PRESSION DANS L'ARTENSE ELARGIE A L'ENSEMBLE DU MASSIF CENTRAL (CHAPITRE 3) PERMET DE CERNER L'IMPORTANCE RELATIVE DU MODE D'EPAISSISSEMENT ET DES MECANISMES DE REMONTEE QUI CONTROLENT L'EVOLUTION DE L'UNITE SUPERIEURE DES GNEISS. AINSI DES CHEMINS PRESSION-TEMPERATURE-TEMPS CONTRASTES TEMOIGNENT SOIT: DE POSITIONS INITIALES DIFFERENTES DANS UNE MEME UNITE; DE VITESSES DE REMONTEES DIFFERENTES; D'UNE HISTOIRE TECTONIQUE VARIEE SELON LA POSITION DE LA NAPPE DANS LA PILE TECTONIQUE. ENFIN, LES PHENOMENES DE FUSION PARTIELLE QUI AFFECTENT L'ENSEMBLE DES NAPPES DE L'ARTENSE SONT TRAITES DANS LE CHAPITRE 4

Book Continental Evolution The Geology of Morocco

Download or read book Continental Evolution The Geology of Morocco written by André Michard and published by Springer. This book was released on 2008-09-26 with total page 438 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Morocco is one of the most fascinating lands in the world from the point of view of its geological structure and evolution. Our knowledge on the geology of the country has been greatly improved during the last decades, based on numerous seismic profiles and boreholes, seismological analysis of focal mechanisms, seismic tomography, gravimetric/geodetic modelling and, on the other hand, based on a big National Program of Geological Mapping including modern geochemical analyses (trace elements) and reliable isotopic datings (39Ar-40Ar, U-Pb zircon, Sm-Nd, etc). Moreover, a number of academic studies have been performed in relation with the increasing number of Moroccan universities. Accordingly, there was an utmost urgency to undertake a new treatise of Moroccan geology which could substitute for the classical Eléments de géologie marocaine, published in 1976 by A. Michard in the Notes et Mémoires du Service géologique du Maroc (re-edited twice since 1976, with more than 6000 copies sold, and... translated in Japanese for engineers!). A new treatise has been prepared between April 2006 and July 2007 under the coordination of A. Michard, assisted by O. Saddiqi, and A. Chalouan, by a wide panel of authors from Morocco, France or Belgium among the best connoisseurs of the country. In order to emphasize the general interest of the book, we finally retain the following title: Continental Evolution: The Geology of Morocco. Structure, Stratigraphy, and Tectonics of the Africa-Atlantic-Mediterranean Triple junction. The editing and production of this book was supported by the following organisations: The Geological Society of France (SGF) The National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines of Morocco (ONHYM) The International Lithosphere Program (ILP)

Book Personal Days

  • Author : Ed Park
  • Publisher : Random House
  • Release : 2008-05-13

  • Pages : 258 pages

Download or read book Personal Days written by Ed Park and published by Random House. This book was released on 2008-05-13 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In an unnamed New York-based company, the employees are getting restless as everything around them unravels. There’s Pru, the former grad student turned spreadsheet drone; Laars, the hysteric whose work anxiety stalks him in his tooth-grinding dreams; and Jack II, who distributes unwanted backrubs–aka “jackrubs”–to his co-workers. On a Sunday, one of them is called at home. And the Firings begin. Rich with Orwellian doublespeak, filled with sabotage and romance, this astonishing literary debut is at once a comic delight and a narrative tour de force. It’s a novel for anyone who has ever worked in an office and wondered: “Where does the time go? Where does the life go? And whose banana is in the fridge?” Praise for PERSONAL DAYS "Witty and appealing...Anyone who has ever groaned to hear 'impact' used as a verb will cheer as Park skewers the avatars of corporate speak, hellbent on debasing the language....Park has written what one of his characters calls 'a layoff narrative' for our times. As the economy continues its free fall, Park's book may serve as a handy guide for navigating unemployment and uncertainty. Does anyone who isn't a journalist think there can't be two books on the same subject at the same time? We need as many as we can get right now." —The New York Times Book Review "Never have the minutiae of office life been so lovingly cataloged and collated." —"Three First Novels that Just Might Last," —Time A "comic and creepy début...Park transforms the banal into the eerie, rendering ominous the familiar request "Does anyone want anything from the outside world?" —The New Yorker "The modern corporate office is to Ed Park's debut novel Personal Days what World War II was to Joseph Heller's Catch-22—a theater of absurdity and injustice so profound as to defy all reason....Park may be in line to fill the shoes left by Kurt Vonnegut and other satirists par excellence."—Samantha Dunn, Los Angeles Times "In Personal Days Ed Park has crafted a sometimes funny, sometimes heartbreaking, but always adroit novel about office life...Sharp and lovely language." —Newsweek "A warm and winning fiction debut." — Publishers Weekly "I laughed until they put me in a mental hospital. But Personal Days is so much more than satire. Underneath Park's masterly portrait of wasted workaday lives is a pulsating heart, and an odd, buoyant hope." — Gary Shteyngart, author of Absurdistan "The funniest book I've read about the way we work now." –William Poundstone, author of Fortune's Formula "Ed Park joins Andy Warhol and Don DeLillo as a master of the deadpan vernacular." —Helen DeWitt, author of The Last Samurai

Book excerpt: A witty, literate, and action-filled debut, Hemingway Deadlights catches the famed author in his later years, battling to solve the injustices in a flawed world. It is 1956 and Hemingway has spent much of the year at his home in Key West, hiding from tourists and autograph hunters. But a friend's sudden death rouses Papa from his idyll. To say that the cause of death is suspicious is to put it lightly. It's not every day that a part-time smuggler is impaled on a harpoon. "Neatly captures the personality and uproarious lifestyle of an American literary icon. ... A mystery sure to please Hemingway aficionados." - Publishers Weekly

Book Interior Cratonic Basins

Download or read book Interior Cratonic Basins written by Morris Wellman Leighton and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 854 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A detailed overview of the Illinois basin is followed by less detailed reviews of six other selected interior cratonic basins: the Williston, Michigan, Baltic, Paris, Parana, and Carpentaria basins. The goal is to develop a better understanding of the basin-forming, basin-filling, and basin-modifying processes that control hydrocarbon plays and resultant oil and gas fields in this class of basins. The idea is to describe and document the variations, opportunities, and exploration problems that can be expected.
