This book was released on 2012-11-06 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Self organising Software written by Giovanna Di Marzo Serugendo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-09-15 with total page 465 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Self-organisation, self-regulation, self-repair and self-maintenance are promising conceptual approaches for dealing with complex distributed interactive software and information-handling systems. Self-organising applications dynamically change their functionality and structure without direct user intervention, responding to changes in requirements and the environment. This is the first book to offer an integrated view of self-organisation technologies applied to distributed systems, particularly focusing on multiagent systems. The editors developed this integrated book with three aims: to explain self-organisation concepts and principles, using clear definitions and a strong theoretical background; to examine how self-organising behaviour can be modelled, analysed and systematically engineered into agent behaviour; and to assess the types of problems that can be solved using self-organising multiagent systems. The book comprises chapters covering all three dimensions, synthesising up-to-date research work and the latest technologies and applications. The book offers dedicated chapters on concepts such as self-organisation, emergence in natural systems, software agents, stigmergy, gossip, cooperation and immune systems. The book then explains how to engineer artificial self-organising software, in particular it examines methodologies and middleware infrastructures. Finally, the book presents diverse applications of self-organising software, such as constraint satisfaction, trust management, image recognition and networking. The book will be of interest to researchers working on emergent phenomena and adaptive systems. It will also be suitable for use as a graduate textbook, with chapter summaries and exercises, and an accompanying website that includes teaching slides, exercise solutions and research project outlines. This book was released on 2012-11-06 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Control of Complex Systems written by Karl J. Aström and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-06-28 with total page 485 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world of artificial systems is reaching complexity levels that es cape human understanding. Surface traffic, electricity distribution, air planes, mobile communications, etc. , are examples that demonstrate that we are running into problems that are beyond classical scientific or engi neering knowledge. There is an ongoing world-wide effort to understand these systems and develop models that can capture its behavior. The reason for this work is clear, if our lack of understanding deepens, we will lose our capability to control these systems and make they behave as we want. Researchers from many different fields are trying to understand and develop theories for complex man-made systems. This book presents re search from the perspective of control and systems theory. The book has grown out of activities in the research program Control of Complex Systems (COSY). The program has been sponsored by the Eu ropean Science Foundation (ESF) which for 25 years has been one of the leading players in stimulating scientific research. ESF is a European asso ciation of more than 60 leading national science agencies spanning more than 20 countries. ESF covers has standing committees in Medical Sci ences, Life and Environmental Sciences, Physical and Engineering Sci ences, Humanities and Social Sciences. The COSY program was ESF's first activity in the Engineering Sciences. The program run for a period of five years starting January 1995.
Download or read book Designing Human machine Cooperation Systems written by Patrick Millot and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-07-09 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, on the ergonomics of human−machine systems, is aimed at engineers specializing in informatics, automation, production or robotics, who are faced with a significant dilemma during the conception of human−machine systems. On the one hand, the human operator guarantees the reliability of the system and has been known to salvage numerous critical situations through an ability to reason in unplanned, imprecise and uncertain situations; on the other hand, the human operator can be unpredictable and create disturbances in the automated system. The first part of the book is dedicated to the methods of human-centered design, from three different points of view, the various chapters focusing on models developed by human engineers and functional models to explain human behavior in their environment, models of cognitive psychology and models in the domain of automobile driving. Part 2 develops the methods of evaluation of the human−machine systems, looking at the evaluation of the activity of the human operator at work and human error analysis methods. Finally, Part 3 is dedicated to human−machine cooperation, where the authors show that a cooperative agent comprises a know-how and a so-called know-how-to-cooperate and show the way to design and evaluate that cooperation in real industrial contexts.

Download or read book Mod liser les accidents et les catastrophes industrielles la m thode STAMP written by HARDY Karim and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2012-11-07 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Tools and Applications with Artificial Intelligence written by Constantinos Koutsojannis and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-01-17 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques has been greatly increased. The term “intelligence” seems to be a “must” in a large number of European and International project calls. AI Techniques have been used in almost any domain. Application-oriented systems usually incorporate some kind of “intelligence” by using techniques stemming from intelligent search, knowledge representation, machine learning, knowledge discovery, intelligent agents, computational intelligence etc. The Workshop on “Applications with Artificial Intelligence” seeks for quality papers on computer applications that incorporate some kind of AI technique. The objective of the workshop was to bring together scientists, engineers and practitioners, who work on designing or developing applications that use intelligent techniques or work on intelligent techniques and apply them to application domains (like medicine, biology, education etc), to present and discuss their research works and exchange ideas in this book.
