Book New Approaches in Eukaryotic DNA Replication

Download or read book New Approaches in Eukaryotic DNA Replication written by A. De Recondo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: DNA replication in eukaryotes is an important field, particular ly because of its direct impact on the study of cancer. The under standing of molecular mechanisms of replication and their regulation should allow a better comprehension of the alterations that lead to the proliferation of tumor cells and to error-prone repair in cells exposed to radiation or chemical carcinogens. During the last several years, many enzymes and proteins which participate in replication of DNA in eukaryotic cells have been identified, isolated and characterized. New concepts in chromatin structure have refocused attention on the study of replication of DNA complexed with his tones and non-histone chromosomal proteins. However, progress has been noticeably slower than for prokaryotes, essentially because of the difficulty in genetic analysis of eukaryo tic DNA replication. In June 1980, a workshop was organized in Cargese, Corsica (France) to facilitate exchanges of information between workers spe cializing in prokaryotes and those specializing in eukaryotes, and to allow discussion of new experimental approaches. With this in mind, special interest has been taken in the origin and termination of chromosome cycles and how they are controlled.

Book The Total Synthesis of Natural Products

Download or read book The Total Synthesis of Natural Products written by John ApSimon and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2009-09-22 with total page 720 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organic chemistry's innovative breadth is especially noteworthy in the area of natural products synthesis. Since the early 1970s, this landmark chemical reference has been documenting the newest and most important of these, in a readily understood format, that clearly traces each of their synthetic routes. Volume Eight, the latest in the series, contains a long-awaited look at the synthesis of tri- and tetracyclic diterpenes, along with the synthesis of naturally occurring quinones. Recent interest in the biologically important polysaccharides has led to a detailed consideration of that compound class. Finally, this new volume contains a look at the strategies and methods specific to natural products containing the spiroketal functional group. The Total Synthesis of Natural Products, Volume Eight, continues the meticulous work of the series, providing chemists with an entirely up-to-date and convenient guide to the critical new syntheses essential to organic chemistry's continuing evolution.

Book excerpt: Organic Synthesis 5e provides a reaction-based approach to this important branch of organic chemistry. Updated and accessible, this eagerly-awaited revision offers a comprehensive foundation for graduate students coming from disparate backgrounds and knowledge levels, to provide them with critical working knowledge of basic reactions, stereochemistry and conformational principles. This reliable resource uniquely incorporates molecular modeling content, problems, and visualizations, and includes reaction examples and homework problems drawn from the latest in the current literature.? There have been advancements in organic reactions, particularly organometallic reactions, and there is a need to show how these advancements have influenced current organic synthesis. The goal is to revise and update the examples of reaction examples taken from the synthesis literature from about 2017-2023. The reactions illustrate those that are used most often in modern organic synthesis, but recent examples will show their current relevance.? Where new approaches and new reactions have been developed for organic synthesis, examples will be added as new material. Provides new content, reaction examples, and study problems from recent research? Features improved organization, new art, and new chapter content on process chemistry and green organic chemistry Includes revised homework for each chapter, with new examples and questions?

Book General and Synthetic Methods

Download or read book General and Synthetic Methods written by G. Pattenden and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 1983 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Annotation. Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. For over 80 years the Royal Society of Chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued. The current list of Specialist Periodical Reports can be seen on the inside flap of this volume.
