Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present book is a novel attempt to make available the students an exhaustive, interesting and valuable information on the subject of Economic Zoology. All kinds of animal pathogens such as protozoans, helminths, nematodes, mites and ticks and household insects, directly or indirectly causing diseases in other animals including humans, have been described in detail covering every aspect of their life history along with the symptoms appearing on the hosts, and their prevention, control and cure. Furthermore, along with the animal pathogens mentioned above, plant pathogens, such as insects, acting as pests of a variety of crops have also been described in full detail. Apart from the harmful effects, animals are also beneficial to mankind. This seems to be justified when we go through the chapters relating to apiculture, lac culture and sericulture along with fisheries, prawn culture, pearl culture, cattle farming, pig farming and poultry farming. Key Features • Chapters enriched with photomicrographs present a realistic description. • Exclusive life cycle diagrams of pathogens are helpful in understanding important events of their life. • Exhaustive coverage of the subject matter helps students to understand the concepts with clarity and provide a wide range of information in a single volume. • Chapter-end review questions help students to prepare for the examinations and assess their subject knowledge.

Book Principles of Economic Zoology

Download or read book Principles of Economic Zoology written by Lewis Sylvester Daugherty and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-02 with total page 419 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Principles of Economic Zoology The authors have long felt the need of one book in the hands of the student which would give not only the salient facts of structural Zoology and the development of the various branches of animals, but also such facts of natural history or the life and habits of animals as to show the interrelations of structure, habit, and environment. For we believe that a knowledge of both structure and life-history is necessary before any suggestions or discoveries can be made concerning the principles which underlie and control all animal life, including that of man. For it is principles and their application for which we are searching. This book is an attempt to supply this need. It is especially designed to accompany the Field and Laboratory Guide (Part I). For the sake of the natural history many examples have been included. To reduce the size of the book it has been necessary to print this natural history in smaller type, but that in no way implies that it is of minor importance, and it is by far the most interesting portion of the subject. The scientific names need not, in all cases, be learned. They have been used because common names are so often misleading.
