This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 407 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and disseminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) * at Purdue University in 1 957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the activity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all con cerned if the printing and distribution of the volumes were handled by an interna tional publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Cor poration of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 29 (thesis year 1984) a total of 12,637 theses titles from 23 Canadian and 202 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for these titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work. While Volume 29 reports theses submitted in 1984, on occasion, certain univer sities do report theses submitted in previous years but not reported at the time.
Download or read book Advanced Array Systems Applications and RF Technologies written by Nicholas Fourikis and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2000-05-31 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advanced Array Systems, Applications and RF Technologies adopts a holistic view of arrays used in radar, electronic warfare, communications, remote sensing and radioastronomy. Radio frequency [RF] and intermediate frequency [IF] signal processing is assuming a fundamental importance, owing to its increasing ability to multiply a system's capabilities in a cost-effective manner. This book comprehensively covers the important front-end RF subsystems of active phased arrays, so offering array designers new and exciting opportunities in signal processing. This book: * provides an up to date record of existing systems from different applications * explores array systems under development * bridges the gap between textbook coverage of idealized phased arrays and practical knowledge of working phased arrays * recognises the significance of cost to the realization of phased arrays * discusses future advances in the field that promise to deliver even more affordable arrays ['intelligent' or self-focussing/-cohering arrays] Engineers and scientists in the radar and RF technology industry will welcome the detailed description of array elements, polarisers, T/R modules and beamformers in Advanced Array Systems, Applications and RF Technologies. This book is also appropriate for postgraduate and advanced undergraduate students in electronic engineering, and for technical managers, researchers and students in the fields of radioastronomy and remote sensing. This book is a volume in the Signal Processing and its Applications series, edited by Richard Green and Truong Nguyen.

Download or read book Radar Imaging of Airborne Targets written by Brett Borden and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1999-01-01 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Radar-based imaging of aircraft targets is a topic that continues to attract a lot of attention, particularly since these imaging methods have been recognized to be the foundation of any successful all-weather non-cooperative target identification technique. Traditional books in this area look at the topic from a radar engineering point of view. Consequently, the basic issues associated with model error and image interpretation are usually not addressed in any substantive fashion. Moreover, applied mathematicians frequently find it difficult to read the radar engineering literature because it is jargon-laden and device specific, meaning that the skills most applicable to the problem's solution are rarely applied. Enabling an understanding of the subject and its current mathematical research issues, Radar Imaging of Airborne Targets: A Primer for Applied Mathematicians and Physicists presents the issues and techniques associated with radar imaging from a mathematical point of view rather than from an instrumentation perspective. The book concentrates on scattering issues, the inverse scattering problem, and the approximations that are usually made by practical algorithm developers. The author also explains the consequences of these approximations to the resultant radar image and its interpretation, and examines methods for reducing model-based error.

This book was released on 2013-11-09 with total page 1076 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This foreword deals exclusively with the planning, organization, and execution of the Workshop's scientific as well as cultural programs. It is opened with a synopsis on how the global political changes that occurred immediately after the Workshop caused the ~elay in producing the proceedings, followed by a brief exposition on need, timeliness, and importance of this second ARW in the field of electromagnetic imaging, radar remote sensing, and target versus clutter di~rimination; and an outline of the objectives. An informal discussion about some of the organizational details, a retrospective summary of events, and a preview of the third workshop, planned for 1993 September 19-25, is intended to recapture the spirit of this second NATO Advanced Research Workshop (1988 September 18-24), and will reveal how successful it was in compar ison to the first of 1983 September 18-24, how its accomplishments may be appreciated and why a third and last workshop was requested by its participants to take place during 1993 September 19-25.

Download or read book Spatial Polarization Characteristics of Radar Antenna written by Huanyao Dai and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-06-20 with total page 331 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents novel research ideas and offers insights into radar system design, artificial intelligence and signal processing applications. Further, it proposes a new concept of antenna spatial polarization characteristics (SPC), suggesting that the antenna polarization is a function of the spatial direction and providing new ideas for radar signal processing (RSP) and anti-jamming. It also discusses the design of an advanced signal-processing algorithm, and proposes new polarimetric and anti-jamming methods using antenna inherent properties. The book helps readers discover the potential of radar information processing and improve its anti-interference and target identification ability. It is of interest to university researchers, radar engineers and graduate students in computer science and electronics who wish to learn the core principles, methods, algorithms, and applications of RSP.

Download or read book Ultrawideband Short Pulse Radio Systems written by Vladimir I. Koshelev and published by Artech House. This book was released on 2017-04-30 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This resource provides a comprehensive treatment of the methods, analysis, and practice of impulse and ultrawideband (UWB) systems. Sources, antennas, propagation, electromagnetic theory, and actual practical systems are explored. This book provides novel perspective on impulse and short-pulse wireless engineering along with practical guidance on how to build antennas and radio hardware for high-power impulse signals. Theoretical and experimental results in the time-frequency domain are presented. The book explains and discusses the scattering of UWB electromagnetic pulses by conducting and dielectric objects. Impulse responses of objects and propagation channels are explored with details of signal models and their spectral characteristics and uses of regularization of a Kramers-Kroning type relation for estimating transfer functions. Readers gain insight into the development of high-power sources of UWB radiation with megavolt effective potential on the base of combined antenna arrays excited with bipolar voltage pulses. This in-depth volume includes chapters on receiving antennas, transmitting antennas, and antenna arrays along with details on high-power UWB radiation sources as well as problem sets.
