Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modelling and Computation of Turbulent Flows has been written by one of the most prolific authors in the field of CFD. Professor of aerodynamics at SUPAERO and director of DMAE at ONERA, the author calls on both his academic and industrial experience when presenting this work. The field of CFD is strongly represented by the following corporate companies; Boeing; Airbus; Thales; United Technologies and General Electric, government bodies and academic institutions also have a strong interest in this exciting field. Each chapter has also been specifically constructed to constitute as an advanced textbook for PhD candidates working in the field of CFD, making this book essential reading for researchers, practitioners in industry and MSc and MEng students.* A broad overview of the development and application of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), with real applications to industry* A Free CD-Rom which contains computer program's suitable for solving non-linear equations which arise in modeling turbulent flows* Professor Cebeci has published over 200 technical papers and 14 books, a world authority in the field of CFD

Book Fourteenth International Conference on Numerical Methods in Fluid Dynamics

Download or read book Fourteenth International Conference on Numerical Methods in Fluid Dynamics written by Suresh M. Deshpande and published by Springer. This book was released on 1995-08-18 with total page 728 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computational Fluid Dynamics has now grown into a multidisciplinary activity with considerable industrial applications. The papers in this volume bring out the current status and future trends in CFD very effectively. They cover numerical techniques for solving Euler and Navier-Stokes equations and other models of fluid flow, along with a number of papers on applications. Besides the 88 contributed papers by research workers from all over the world, the book also includes 6 invited lectures from distinguished scientists and engineers.

Book Turbulent Flows

Download or read book Turbulent Flows written by Jean Piquet and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 767 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: obtained are still severely limited to low Reynolds numbers (about only one decade better than direct numerical simulations), and the interpretation of such calculations for complex, curved geometries is still unclear. It is evident that a lot of work (and a very significant increase in available computing power) is required before such methods can be adopted in daily's engineering practice. I hope to l"Cport on all these topics in a near future. The book is divided into six chapters, each· chapter in subchapters, sections and subsections. The first part is introduced by Chapter 1 which summarizes the equations of fluid mechanies, it is developed in C~apters 2 to 4 devoted to the construction of turbulence models. What has been called "engineering methods" is considered in Chapter 2 where the Reynolds averaged equations al"C established and the closure problem studied (§1-3). A first detailed study of homogeneous turbulent flows follows (§4). It includes a review of available experimental data and their modeling. The eddy viscosity concept is analyzed in §5 with the l"Csulting ~alar-transport equation models such as the famous K-e model. Reynolds stl"Css models (Chapter 4) require a preliminary consideration of two-point turbulence concepts which are developed in Chapter 3 devoted to homogeneous turbulence. We review the two-point moments of velocity fields and their spectral transforms (§ 1), their general dynamics (§2) with the particular case of homogeneous, isotropie turbulence (§3) whel"C the so-called Kolmogorov's assumptions are discussed at length.

Book Turbulent Shear Layer Shock Wave Interactions

Download or read book Turbulent Shear Layer Shock Wave Interactions written by J. Delery and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-08 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It was on a proposal of the late Professor Maurice Roy, member of the French Academy of Sciences, that in 1982, the General Assembly of the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics decided to sponsor a symposium on Turbulent Shear-Layer/Shock-Wave Interactions. This sympo sium might be arranged in Paris -or in its immediate vicinity-during the year 1985. Upon request of Professor Robert Legendre, member of the French Academy of Sciences, the organization of the symposium might be provided by the Office National d'Etudes et de Recherches Aerospatiales (ONERA). The request was very favorably received by Monsieur l'Ingenieur General Andre Auriol, then General Director of ONERA. The subject of interactions between shock-waves and turbulent dissipative layers is of considerable importance for many practical devices and has a wide range of engineering applications. Such phenomena occur almost inevitably in any transonic or supersonic flow and the subject has given rise to an important research effort since the advent of high speed fluid mechanics, more than forty years ago. However, with the coming of age of modern computers and the development of new sophisticated measurement techniques, considerable progress has been made in the field over the past fifteen years. The aim of the symposium was to provide an updated status of the research effort devoted to shear layer/shock-wave interactions and to present the most significant results obtained recently.

Book Effects of Streamline Curvature on Turbulent Flow

Download or read book Effects of Streamline Curvature on Turbulent Flow written by Peter Bradshaw and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Streamline curvature in the plane of the mean shear produces large changes in the turbulence structure of shear layers, usually an order of magnitude more important than normal pressure gradients and other terms in the mean-motion equations for curved flows. The effects on momentum and heat transfer in boundary layers are noticeable on typical wing sections and are very important on highly-cambered turbomachine blades: turbulence may be nearly eliminated on highly-convex surfaces, while on highly-concave surfaces momentum transfer by quasi-steady longitudinal vortices dominates the ordinary turbulence processes. The greatly enhanced mixing rates of swirling jets and the characteristic non-turbulent cores of trailing vortices are also consequences of the effects of streamline curvature on the turbulence structure. A progress report, comprises a review of current knowledge, a discussion of methods of predicting curvature effects, and a presentation of principles for the guidance of future workers.
