Download or read book His Story written by Jeffrey L. Walling and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2017-11-14 with total page 441 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is an ongoing battle in regard to the authenticity of Gods Word raging in our homes and communities, not between science and the Bible, but rather between humanistic (atheistic) theology and Christianity. This publication seeks to cover the gambit of historical and scientific evidence from A to Z that could be used as a textbook for Christian educators. Our churches are not teaching this in their Sunday schools. Christian schools and homeschoolers are not getting this on chalkboards. Parents dont have the resources or tools to prepare and protect their teenagers heading into secular high schools and colleges from the onslaught of anti-Christ teachings. The scripture says in Hosea 4:6, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. As an added benefit, students going into high school reading this book who have not decided what field of study they are interested in will get an opportunity to be exposed to several areas of interest. Fields of study that include geology, literary analysis, genomics, anthropology, archaeology, paleontology, zoology, meteorology, genealogy, astronomy, earth sciences, evolution, and biblical studies are all interrogated to a significant depth.

Download or read book Second Line written by Poppy Z. Brite and published by Small Beer Press. This book was released on 2009 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: hese two short novels bookend Poppy Z. Brite's cheerfully chaotic series starring two chefs in New Orleans. The Value of X introduces G-man and Rickey, who grew up in New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward and who are slowly realizing there are only two important things in life: cooking and each other. Rickey's parents aren't quite so taken with the boy's plans and get him an impossible-to-resist place at the Culinary Institute of America. In D*U*C*K, Rickey and G-man's restaurant, Liquor, is doing well but there are the usual complications of running a kitchen: egos get bruised, people get fired . . . and then Rickey is jumped in an alley by one of their ex-waiters. On the mend, Rickey takes a side job to cater the annual Ducks Unlimited banquet, where every course must, of course, include the ducks the hunters have bagged. Rickey's crew are ready to meet the challenge, but Rickey's not sure he can do it all and deal with the guest of honor--his childhood hero, former New Orleans Saints quarterback Bobby Hebert. "Fun foodie fiction, and readers will scarf it down as quickly as a plate of blackened crawfish."--Publishers Weekly Originally published in limited hardcover editions, these two novels are full of the pure joy of love, hard work, and great food and are a tremendous extension (or introduction) to Brite's series. Praise fo the Rickey and G-man stories: "A high-end restaurant is...a gift that keeps on giving. The heat, the bickerings and intrigue, the pursuit of perfection, the dodgy money keeping it all afloate: the setting spawns plots...Can the [Liquor] franchise sustain itself? The answer is yes."--New York Times "World-class satire and perfect New Orleans lit."--Andrei Codrescu "Steeped in spicy dialogue and [New Orleans] flavor...a behind-the-swinging-door peek into the world of chefs."--Entertainment Weekly Poppy Z. Brite's fiction set in the New Orleans restaurant world includes Prime, Liquor, and Soul Kitchen. She has also published five other novels and three short story collections. She lives with her husband Chris, a chef, in New Orleans.

Book excerpt: ANTEDILUVIAN WORLD : THE END OF THE MYTH proves that there truly was a Great Flood. It shows that the Hebrew, Greek, Babylonian and other flood traditions are not based upon one antoher, but are rather differiing accounts of the same cataclysimic disaster. It identifies the exact location of those who were destroyed by "Zeus" in Greek myth, and by "Jehovah" in Hebrew tradition. It describes this Ice Age world such that both the Hebrew and Pagan accounts of the pre-flood (antediluvian) world come to life. it proves that the Noah's flood tradition, and the story preserved by the Greek poet "Solon" of 600BC that described the destruction of ATLANTIS, were both stories about the same epochal event. This book proves that many of the theories of the GREAT IGNATIOUS DONNELLY, as written in his 1882 book titled ATLANTIS: THE ANTEDILUVIAN WORLD, were correct. THIS BOOK CORRECTLY IDENTIFIES THE LOCATION OF PLATO'S LOST ATLANTIS!

Book The Mammoth Book of Nightmare Stories

Download or read book The Mammoth Book of Nightmare Stories written by Stephen Jones and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2019-02-19 with total page 475 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner of the British Fantasy Award Sixteen rare terror tales not to be read at night! To sleep, perchance to dream . . . of horrors! Here are some of the stories that gave their own authors nightmares—things that go bump at night, hauntings that lurk in the back of the mind, skin-crawling moments between the realms of wakefulness and sleep. In this somnambulistic collection, award-winning editor Stephen Jones asks many of the biggest names in horror fiction to choose their own favorite stories and novellas which, for one reason or another, have been unjustly overlooked or ignored. From Hugh B. Cave’s 1930s “shudder pulp” tale to Ramsey Campbell’s stunning novella of barely concealed hysteria and grim black humor, these are the “forgotten” stories ripe for rediscovery, by such acclaimed authors as Poppy Z. Brite, Basil Copper, Harlan Ellison®, Neil Gaiman, Caítlin R. Kiernan, Joe R. Lansdale, Tim Lebbon, Tanith Lee, and Michael Marshall Smith. Be warned: do not try to read this book at night, because these superior horror stories—both supernatural and psychological—will leave a lasting chill down your spine long after you have put it down, shut off the lights, and ducked under the covers. As you try to get off to sleep, who knows what dreams may come . . .?

Download or read book Enoch and Metatron Collection written by Scriptural Research Institute and published by Scriptural Research Institute. This book was released on 2020-06-11 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The five books of Enoch are a collection of books written in Semitic languages, and often grouped together as the 'Book of Enoch,' or '1st Enoch.' The books were likely written at different points in time and different Semitic languages. The first book was the Book of the Watchers, which is generally considered to be the oldest book in the collection, however, the age of the book is debated. The book is now known to have originated long before Christianity since the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, however, was lost for well over a thousand years to Europeans, and assumed to be a Christian-era work when the Europeans rediscovered it in Ethiopia. The five books of Enoch only survive in Ge'ez, the classical language of Ethiopia, however, do not survive intact, and some sections of text do not survive. Other books attributed to Enoch, including the Secrets of Enoch, which is also called the 2nd Book of Enoch, however, is not the same text as the Semitic 2nd Book of Enoch. The Secrets of Enoch has only survived in the Old Slavonic language in the Balkan Peninsula and may be a partial paraphrase of the Book of the Watchers. Another text attributed to Enoch is the Revelation of Metatron, also called the Revelation of Metatron, Book of the Palaces, Book of Rabbi Ishmael the High Priest, or the 3rd Book of Enoch, however, is not the same text as the Ethiopian 3rd Book of Enoch, or any section of the Semitic books of Enoch. The Revelation of Metatron is written as a sequel to the first five books of Enoch and is written from the perspective of Enoch in the sky, where his angelic name was Metatron. The Revelation of Metatron appears to have been written in Hebrew but includes several Greek and Latin words that have led scholars to assume the text is a Jewish text written in the Christian era. The Revelation of Metatron is a medieval Jewish work, that claims to have been written in the late-2nd century AD by Rabbi Ishmael 'the High Priest.' It is known by various names, including the Sepher Hekhalot (Book of the Palaces), the 3rd Book of Enoch, and the Book of Rabbi Ishmael the High Priest, although its most common name, is the Revelation of Metatron. The earliest name for the work was likely the Sepher Hekhalot (Book of the Palaces), however, all copies have been so reworked that it cannot be known for sure. It is clear that Rabbi Ishmael did not write it, and his name, which is in almost every verse, was inserted to replace another name that the medieval publisher did not want associated with the book. Rabbi Ishmael was the author of the book called Hekhalot Rabbati (Greater Palaces) sometime between 100 and 130 AD, and his name was late used as a pseudonym by many authors of Merkabah literature between 200 and 1000 AD.
