Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During my new beginning and walk with the Lord, I have received a second chance for my life to make things right. The cover design depicts one of the many visions given to me. As you look at the cover of this book, you are looking at a stairway leading up to the light at the end of the tunnel. When I heard a voice say to me, “Look to your right. See those steps over there, I want you to start walking up there to that light before you until you reach the top.” I agreed. As I started on my journey, it became the longest walk of my life. The steps were long but narrow. At one point about midway, there were a lot of distractions and people traveling the same path. There were moments of gray with limited light to darkness and tunnels of blackness of uncertainty of where I was and being alone becoming fearful, but I kept walking. Then I came to a crossroad with only a right and left turn, and there was a light. People began to take those left and right turns, but I heard the Lord say, “No, do not turn to your right nor to your left, keep walking to the light before you.” It was a long hard journey to get there, but when I arrived at the door, the light was even brighter. I turned to look behind me and saw that I was alone. Everyone else took the shortcut to a different destination. Listen and follow that small, still voice when you hear it, it’s the Holy Spirit speaking to you.

Book excerpt: Set aside the frustrations of your past and step into a new level of victory and favor with this spiritually powerful guide from #1 bestselling author and Lakewood Church pastor Joel Osteen. We all have things that are trying to hold us back: guilt from past mistakes, temptations that we can't seem to overcome, or dysfunctions that have been passed down. It's easy to learn to live with these problems and accept them as who we are. We can all find a reason to live like we're at a disadvantage and become negative and bitter-we came down with an illness, somebody walked out of a relationship, our boss overlooked us. But we have to say, "I'm done making excuses. I'm not going to let the past keep me from moving forward and benefitting from the good things God has in store." It is time to say, "It is finished." In Next Level Thinking, Joel Osteen writes that we weren't created to go through life weighed down by addictions, dysfunction, guilt, or the past. God created us to be free. Joel encourages readers to leave behind the negative mindsets, the scarcity mentality, and the limitations others have put on us, and shows us how to step into new levels of victory, new levels of favor.

Book Groundless Paths

    Book Details:
  • Author : Karl Brunnholzl
  • Publisher : Shambhala Publications
  • Release : 2012-08-14
  • ISBN : 0834829509
  • Pages : 904 pages

Download or read book Groundless Paths written by Karl Brunnholzl and published by Shambhala Publications. This book was released on 2012-08-14 with total page 904 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Abhisamayalamkara summarizes all the topics in the vast body of the prajñaparamita sutras. Resembling a zip-file, it comes to life only through its Indian and Tibetan commentaries. Together, these texts not only discuss the "hidden meaning" of the prajñaparamita sutras—the paths and bhumis of sravakas, pratyekabuddhas, and bodhisattvas—but also serve as contemplative manuals for the explicit topic of these sutras—emptiness—and how it is to be understood on the progressive levels of realization of bodhisattvas. Thus these texts describe what happens in the mind of a bodhisattva who meditates on emptiness, making it a living experience from the beginner's stage up through buddhahood. Groundless Paths contains the first in-depth study of the Abhisamayalamkara (the text studied most extensively in higher Tibetan Buddhist education) and its commentaries from the perspective of the Nyingma School of Tibetan Buddhism. This study consists mainly of translations of Maitreya's famous text and two commentaries on it by Patrul Rinpoche. These are supplemented by three short texts on the paths and bhumis by the same author, as well as extensive excerpts from commentaries by six other Nyingma masters, including Mipham Rinpoche. Thus this book helps close a long-standing gap in the modern scholarship on the prajñaparamita sutras and the literature on paths and bhumis in mahayana Buddhism. Arya Maitreya's Ornament of Clear Realization, with its Indian and Tibetan commentaries, presents the complex dynamics of the path to liberation as a succession of realizations of the empty nature of all phenomena. This presentation is a powerful antidote to whatever two-dimensional views we might hold about spiritual experience and the journey to enlightenment.

By combining the advice contained in these pages with skill and dedication, you can reach the pinnacle of leadership-where your influence extends beyond your immediate reach for the benefit of others. Derived from material previously published in the Wall Street Journal bestseller The 5 Levels of Leadership.

Book Perspectives on Leadership

Download or read book Perspectives on Leadership written by Gilbert W. Fairholm and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2000-08-30 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In tracing the intellectual roots of business leadership over the last one hundred years, award winning author Gilbert W. Fairholm argues that until recently, spirit and soul have been absent from the major models. After outlining the elements of the five major ideas about leadership, he goes on to define and make operational a new focus that must exist in order to truly understand the leaders' role in relation to workers. The study begins with scientific management and traces the evolution of leadership ideas through the quality movement, on to values-, culture-, and trust-based leadership models, and concluding with an emphasis on spirit in the workplace. It suggests that the leader in the twenty-first century will need to embrace a leadership style based on the main premise of each model along with a focus on ethics, community, service, and spirituality.

Book Other Times Other Realities

Download or read book Other Times Other Realities written by Arnold H. Modell and published by Harvard University Press. This book was released on 1990 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nearly a century has passed since Freud's theories unleashed a revolution in our understanding of the human psyche. Yet, as Arnold Modell firmly points out, we still do not possess a theory that explains how psychoanalysis works. Other Times, Other Realities provides brilliant insight into this perplexing problem and lays the foundation for a comprehensive theory of psychoanalytic treatment. Modell's careful consideration of Freudian theory, the interpretations of contemporary ego psychology, and the contribution of object theory discloses the changing significance of the fundamental elements of the therapeutic process. In Other Times, Other Realities, readers will discover an illuminating synthesis of concepts underlying the various interpretations of the psychoanalytic process.

Book Sociology and the New Systems Theory

Download or read book Sociology and the New Systems Theory written by Kenneth D. Bailey and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 1994-01-11 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides current information about the many recent contributions of social systems theory. While some sociologists feel that the systems age ended with functionalism, in reality a number of recent developments have occurred within the field. The author makes these developments accessible to sociologists and other non-systems scholars, and begins a synthesis of the burgeoning systems field and mainstream sociological theory. The analysis shows not only that important points of rapprochement exist between systems theory and sociological theory, but also that systems theory has in some cases anticipated developments needed in mainstream theory.
