Book The Mechanism of the Deposition of Manganese Dioxide Part 3 Rotating Ring disc Studies

Download or read book The Mechanism of the Deposition of Manganese Dioxide Part 3 Rotating Ring disc Studies written by and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The effect of ferrous ions on the current-time behaviour of an electrode during the deposition of manganese dioxide from acidic manganese sulphate electrolytes has been measured by the use of rotating ring-disc electrodes. Analysis of the ring and disc currents revealed that the deposit can be reductively corroded by ferrous ions at electrode potentials that appear to be sufficiently positive to afford anodic protection to the manganese deposit. The results provide further support for a model described earlier for the deposition of manganese dioxide.

Book The Electrodeposition of Manganese Dioxide Theory and Practice

Download or read book The Electrodeposition of Manganese Dioxide Theory and Practice written by and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A practical and fundamental study of the factors affecting the deposition of electrolytic manganese dioxide onto titanium and vitreous carbon electrodes is reported. The chemical composition and morphology of the manganese dioxide produced on a miniplant using titanium anodes was found to depend on several operating parameters. These parameters, which also had an effect on the cell voltage, the current efficiency, and the resistance of the anodes to passivation, included the concentration of sulphuric acid and organic contaminants in the electrolyte, the configuration of the anodes, the preparation of their surfaces, and the temperature of the electrolyte. A fundamental study of the deposition process, which involved the analysis of data obtained by the measurement of current-time transients, impedance spectra, and the behaviour of a rotating ring-disc electrode, enabled an electrochemical model of the process to be developed. Various aspects associated with the operating parameters required for the production of electrolytic manganese dioxide are discussed in terms of the model.
