Book Inflation Expectations

Download or read book Inflation Expectations written by Peter J. N. Sinclair and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2009-12-16 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inflation is regarded by the many as a menace that damages business and can only make life worse for households. Keeping it low depends critically on ensuring that firms and workers expect it to be low. So expectations of inflation are a key influence on national economic welfare. This collection pulls together a galaxy of world experts (including Roy Batchelor, Richard Curtin and Staffan Linden) on inflation expectations to debate different aspects of the issues involved. The main focus of the volume is on likely inflation developments. A number of factors have led practitioners and academic observers of monetary policy to place increasing emphasis recently on inflation expectations. One is the spread of inflation targeting, invented in New Zealand over 15 years ago, but now encompassing many important economies including Brazil, Canada, Israel and Great Britain. Even more significantly, the European Central Bank, the Bank of Japan and the United States Federal Bank are the leading members of another group of monetary institutions all considering or implementing moves in the same direction. A second is the large reduction in actual inflation that has been observed in most countries over the past decade or so. These considerations underscore the critical – and largely underrecognized - importance of inflation expectations. They emphasize the importance of the issues, and the great need for a volume that offers a clear, systematic treatment of them. This book, under the steely editorship of Peter Sinclair, should prove very important for policy makers and monetary economists alike.

Book The Missing Cryptoqueen

Download or read book The Missing Cryptoqueen written by Jamie Bartlett and published by Hachette UK. This book was released on 2022-06-28 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 175 countries, four billion dollars, one scam: the thrilling rise and fall of the biggest cryptocurrency con in history and the woman behind it all In 2016, on stage at Wembley Arena in front of thousands of adoring fans, Dr. Ruja Ignatova promised her followers a financial revolution. The future, she said, belonged to cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. And the Oxford-educated, self-styled cryptoqueen vowed that she had invented the Bitcoin Killer. OneCoin would not only earn its investors untold fortunes; it would change the world. By March 2017, more than $4 billion had been invested in OneCoin in countries all around the world. But by October 2017, Ruja Ignatova had disappeared, and it slowly became clear that her revolutionary cryptocurrency was not all it seemed. Fortune was left asking, “Is OneCoin the biggest financial fraud in history?” In The Missing Cryptoqueen, acclaimed tech journalist Jamie Bartlett tells the story he began in his smash hit BBC podcast, entering the murky worlds of little-regulated cryptocurrencies and multilevel marketing schemes. Through a globe-crossing investigation into the criminal underworlds, corrupt governments, and the super-rich, he reveals a very modern tale of intrigue, techno-hype and herd madness that allowed OneCoin to become a million-person pyramid scheme—where, at the top, investors were making millions and, at the bottom, people were putting their livelihoods at risk. It’s the inside story of the smartest and biggest scam of the 21st Century—and the genius behind it, who is still on the run.

Book An Altcoin Trader s Handbook

Download or read book An Altcoin Trader s Handbook written by Nik Patel and published by . This book was released on 2018-06-06 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No doubt you will have seen or heard about the fervour that surrounded cryptocurrencies in 2017, and many of you may have dismissed them as a legitimate asset class; many may have felt a quiet interest but a looming fear; others undoubtedly felt drawn towards the allure of cryptocurrencies and altcoins (and any of the other innumerable names) yet lacked the framework required to tame this volatile and novel market. To you, I present An Altcoin Trader's Handbook: The exponential growth of the cryptosphere over the previous half-decade has brought with it a plethora of life-changing speculative opportunities. Where traditional financial markets seem inaccessible and ineffectual due to the prevalence of high fees and low returns, the emergence of a worldwide market of decentralised alternatives to Bitcoin allows for those unable (or unwilling) to navigate the often-slippery world of hedge funds and investment banks the chance to realise financial freedom. This, of course, is no effortless journey, and this book does not profess to be a get-rich-quick scheme of any sort. Instead, An Altcoin Trader's Handbook merges almost five years of tragicomic yet insightful anecdotes on the ever-evolving nature of the cryptosphere with a comprehensive strategy for profitable altcoin speculation. The book focuses on maximising the upside potential of capital whilst diminishing downside risks, both of which are possible with speculation on so-called 'microcap' and 'lowcap' altcoins, given the application of proper risk management. Above all, the reader will learn, in exhaustive detail, the three-stage process of research, accumulation and distribution that has been the bedrock of my own success in the space. The journey will be intensive - often arduous - but will, with some good fortune, result in an individual most well-equipped to capitalise on the greatest glut of financial opportunity the world has ever seen.
