Whilst an extensive body of work exists in the areas of gender and sustainability, these two fields of knowledge are seldom combined to examine tourism phenomena. When we look at the evolution of tourism, we see that sustainability has become an essential element in educational programmes, policy making and strategic considerations for organisations and destinations. Whilst the beginnings of tourism sustainability were challenging, presently, its relevance is seldom questioned. However, this situation is not the case with gender research. Although gender theorising and research have existed for over a century, and a rich legacy of knowledge exists on this topic, meaningful and respectful engagement with this line of scholarship is thus far peripheral in tourism studies. The aim of this book is to reflect on and rethink the intersection of gender and tourism sustainability through the lens of gender theory and feminist epistemology to stay with the trouble and devise pathways for sustainability gender knowledge. This book will be of great interest to students, researchers, and academics in tourism, gender and sustainability, as well as tourism management. Book excerpt: The fruit of a decade’s research, this volume offers a new interpretation of the dense Christological narrative in Philippians 2:6–11, taking inspiration from recent advances in our understanding of the letter’s Greek and Roman setting and from insights made possible by recently created linguistic databases (such as TLG and PHI). The passage’s praise of Christ engages the language of Hellenistic ruler cults, Platonic metaphysics and moral philosophy, popular (Homeric) beliefs about the gods, and Greek love (eros), to articulate a scripturally grounded theology in which God is revealed to be one in two persons (God the Father and LORD Jesus Christ). The volume also explores hitherto unseen ways in which the central Christ Hymn is tightly connected to the rest of Paul’s argument. The hymn presents Christ as an epitome of the ideals of Greek (and Roman) virtue, to support Paul’s summoning his readers to a life of praiseworthy and exemplary civic conduct (in 1:27). New or recently proposed translations are advanced for numerous words and phrases (in, e.g., 1:8, 11, 27; 2:3, 4, 6, 11; 3:2, 4) and a new (non-Stendahlian) approach to Paul’s boasting in 3:4–6, that is Christological rather than biographical, is put forward.

Equal Parenthood and Social Policy analyzes the government program which best symbolizes this commitment to equal parenthood--parental leave. With return to one's original job being assured, a Swedish couple has twelve months to divide between them so that one parent can stay home to care for their new offspring. While a few other countries, mostly in Scandinavia, have paid parental leave available to fathers, Sweden's program is the oldest and most generous, as well as the one most closely committed to realizing complete equality between men and women in every sphere of social life. In analyzing this unique social program, Haas describes the social, political, and economic circumstances which led Sweden to take such a revolutionary stance on the issue of shared parenthood. Haas also discusses the extent to which Swedish fathers take advantage of their right to parental leave, barriers to fathers' participation, and fathers' experiences while on leave, along with the effects that leavetaking has on mothers' and fathers' later labor market involvement and participation in childcare. This study of the Swedish program raises important questions about future prospects for equal parenthood in Sweden and other industrial societies, and, more significantly, about the potential effectiveness of social policy for bringing about the end of such a cultural universal as women's responsibility for infants.
