Book excerpt: Anna Jane Holden (1893-1975) was born in Moscow, Latah Co., Idaho, a daughter of Joshua and Cementha Laurena (Holden) Holden. Her father was born in Nephi, Utah, her mother in Payson, Utah. She was (1) married to Edwin G. Mullins in 1915. There were no children. She married (2) 1925 Lafayette Clarence Miller (b. 1888) at Vancouver, Clark Co., Washington. They had one son named Tolover Clarence Miller born 1930 in Wilderville, Josephine Co., Oregon. This son later changed his name into Leon Jay Rogers. She had four daughters born to her. Around 1935 Anna Jane changed her name into Bertha Jane. She died as Bertha Jane Huffman. The early ancestor, Joshua Holden (1800-1862), was the son of James Holden (b.ca. 1765/70). He was born in Montgomery Co., N.C., and died in Nephi, Utah. He was married to Mary Talley (1802-1851) in 1819. She was born in Wayne Co., Tennessee.

Gladys Frances Slye Newcomb was born in 1912 at Oroville, California, the daughter of Franklin Albert Slye (1872-1941) and Grace Lancefield Blunden Slye (1886-1976). Descendants, ancestors, and relatives lived in California, New Brunswick, Ohio, Mississippi, Maine, and elsewhere.

They had ten children, 1846-1865. The family migrated to Salt Lake City in 1851 with the Mormon pioneers. James Harvey married 3) Abigail Holden, widow of Hulda's brother. They had two sons, 1855-1857. James Harvey and Abigail were later divorced. James Harvey and Hulda Heath died at Bicknell, Utah. Descendants listed in Utah, Idaho and elsewhere.
