Book Zoology Animal Distribution Evolution And Development

Download or read book Zoology Animal Distribution Evolution And Development written by Dr. Konkala Anand and published by AG PUBLISHING HOUSE (AGPH Books). This book was released on 2022-10-14 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Zoology is a subfield of biology that focuses on the study of different species within the animal kingdom as well as animal life in general. Both the study of individual animals and their component components, down to the molecular level, as well as the study of animal populations, whole faunas, and the interactions of animals with one another, plants, and the nonliving environment, are included in this field of study. The conceptual integration that has taken place in the contemporary study of living things over the past few years has placed more of an emphasis on the structural and functional unity of life rather than on the diversity of life. Although this wide range of studies does result in some specialities within zoology being isolated from one another. The term "fauna" refers to all of the many kinds of animal species that inhabit a certain area at a particular period. Flora is the word used to refer to plant life, whereas funga is the word used to refer to fungal life. The term "biota" refers to all kinds of life, including flora, fauna, funga, and any other forms of life. The term "fauna" is used by zoologists and palaeontologists to refer to the usual collection of creatures that may be found in a certain period or location. For example, "Sonoran Desert fauna" or "Burgess Shale fauna" are both examples of this term. Palaeontologists will often speak of a succession of faunal stages, which is a series of rocks that all contain the same kinds of fossils at the same period. The field of study known as faunistic examines creatures native to a given area. The distribution of animals on earth may be broken down into three categories: land, water, and time. The first two categories are dispersed in space, while the third category is distributed in time. Many things regarding the animals, their distribution and so many other things are discussed in detail across the many chapters and topics that are included in this book. The author of this book decided to include the material that is presently contained inside it after doing a significant amount of research on the topic. All of the content that is included in this book was supplied by the authors of the book after they had a substantial amount of discussion on the topics presented. The reader will be able to get a deeper comprehension of each of the chapters thanks to the wealth of information that is provided in this book.

Book Zoology Animal Distribution Biological And Development

Download or read book Zoology Animal Distribution Biological And Development written by Dr. Hiren Madhukar Dekate and published by AG PUBLISHING HOUSE (AGPH Books). This book was released on 2022-11-08 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Zoology: Animal Distribution, Biologicals and Development are the study of animals and the animal world that is a subset of biology. Animal biology is another name for this field. Zoology is the study of animals and their habitats. This covers things like how animals are categorised, how they behave, how they are built, how they develop, where they live, how they evolved, and even which ones have since been extinct. The study of animals or zoology is a subfield of biology. It's the branch of science that deals with animals as a whole. Animal physiology, animal behaviour, and animal interactions with other species are all part of zoology's scope of the study. This massive course covers the global distribution of every known animal species, both living and extinct. The discipline of zoology delves into uncharted territories of study in addition to the study of animals and their ecosystems. In this book, we learn Aristotle’s system of categorization was used until the Age of Enlightenment in the 16th century when scientists started conducting serious investigations. The field of zoology has grown more intricate, with organisms now classified into five iv "kingdoms," with the animal kingdom subdivided into the Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, and Species.

Book Zoology Animal Distribution Evolution And Development Biology

Download or read book Zoology Animal Distribution Evolution And Development Biology written by Dr. Kamble Kalyani Jaysing and published by AG Publishing House. This book was released on with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since ecological systems are so intricately designed, it is not unexpected that many ecological ideas and concepts have not yet been defined exactly. The scientific method as applied to the study of nature is where ecology gets its start. Ecology is a typically bottom up discipline, meaning that it applies the scientific method to actual facts and processes in order to gradually build a body of knowledge which may give the foundation for useful generalizations. This is in contrast to a discipline who's experimental practice is guided by laws as well as invincible paradigms. However, the necessity to account for all conceivable differences clashes with the generalizability of ecological processes. In this context, the precision of findings obtained via the analysis of real situations becomes crucial. In particular, we need to apply a more scientifically rigorous technique to the study of animal ecology. Animal populations are dynamic in space, subject to significant environmental variation, characterized by a robust stochastic demographic component, engaged in intricate interspecific & intraspecific interactions as well as relationships with abiotic environment. That's why it's taken longer to apply scientific methods & rigorous designs for experiments to them than it has to other scientific pursuits. Nonetheless, there is no clear reason to research animal populations without more discipline.

Book Effects of Resource Distribution on Animal Plant Interactions

Download or read book Effects of Resource Distribution on Animal Plant Interactions written by Mark D. Hunter and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 518 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aimed primarily at advanced graduate students and professional biologists, this book explores the degree to which animal*b1plant interactions are determined by plant and animal variability. Many of the patterns seen in natural communities appear to result from cascading effects up as well as down the trophic system. Variability among primary producers can influence animal and plant population quality and dynamics, community structure, and the evolution of animal*b1plant interations.

Book The Geographical Distribution of Animal Viral Diseases

Download or read book The Geographical Distribution of Animal Viral Diseases written by Stewart Hal and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 515 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Geographical Distribution of Animal Viral Diseases attempts to shed some light on the global distribution of 110 different viral diseases, mainly of livestock and companion animals. The world literature was screened for 110 different viruses, and maps were prepared. These maps delineate the global distribution of pathogenic viruses based on authenticated reports from a variety of reliable sources. Four viruses were categorized as affecting more than one species to a significant degree (astrovirus, rabies, rotaviruses, and Rift Valley fever). The largest number of maps involved viruses that affect humans. Of the 28 viruses a large number were from the California encephalitis group. Ten of the 28 viruses were reported only in the Eastern Hemisphere, 14 only in the Western Hemisphere, and four were worldwide. Birds were the next most frequently affected group with the 15 viruses, followed by pigs with 14 viruses. Overall the vector-borne viruses appear to have much sharper and clear-cut geographical boundaries than the others.

Download or read book Animal Body Size written by Felisa A. Smith and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2013-08-09 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Galileo wrote that “nature cannot produce a horse as large as twenty ordinary horses or a giant ten times taller than an ordinary man unless by miracle or by greatly altering the proportions of his limbs and especially of his bones”—a statement that wonderfully captures a long-standing scientific fascination with body size. Why are organisms the size that they are? And what determines their optimum size? This volume explores animal body size from a macroecological perspective, examining species, populations, and other large groups of animals in order to uncover the patterns and causal mechanisms of body size throughout time and across the globe. The chapters represent diverse scientific perspectives and are divided into two sections. The first includes chapters on insects, snails, birds, bats, and terrestrial mammals and discusses the body size patterns of these various organisms. The second examines some of the factors behind, and consequences of, body size patterns and includes chapters on community assembly, body mass distribution, life history, and the influence of flight on body size.

Book Principles of Animal Biology

Download or read book Principles of Animal Biology written by Aaron Franklin Shull and published by . This book was released on 1920 with total page 470 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Zoölogy is the science of animals. This was the definition centuries ago, when zoölogy was almost exclusively the classification and naming of animals. Since that time there has arisen a vast body of doctrine concerning modes of life, life processes, inter-relations of animals, development, distribution, and descent, most of which has little bearing on classification, which is now founded upon principles as basic as those underlying other branches of science. For the purposes of this volume, anything that has to do with animals is part of zoölogy. This book is, in practice, one long definition of zoölogy. It includes morphology, physiology, ecology, zoögeography, paleontology, taxonomy, and evolution as part of the zoölogical sciences. This book, being a general discussion, will contain elementary facts and principles from each of these branches of science. Students should find it a useful exercise to stop and reflect which of the divisions of zoölogy are, at any given moment, actually being studied.
