Hoping to quickly finish his business and leave before German troops invade, Morrison’s plans are derailed when he receives a letter listing the names of Greek patriots pretending to be German collaborators, a list Nazi strategists desperately need. With the outcome of the war hinging on Morrison's ability to protect the letter, he embarks on an adventure across Greece in an effort to evade Nazi troops and keep the letter from falling into enemy hands. Based on the diaries of Leon Uris's uncle, this action-packed thriller will keep readers in suspense until the very end. A 1959 film adaptation starred Robert Mitchum and Stanley Baker. “The best storyteller of his generation.” —The Denver Post “Uris uses history as the raw material for legend.” —Philadelphia Sunday Bulletin

Book excerpt: First published in 1998, music scored for film has only relatively recently received the critical attention which it merits. Many composers in the twentieth century have written works for films or documentaries, a number feeling that this aspect of their output has been undervalued. This dictionary complements other studies which have appeared in recent years which look at the technical and theoretical issues concerned with film music composition. Arranged alphabetically by composer, the volume comprises over 500 entries covering all nationalities. Each entry includes very brief biographical information on the composer, followed by a list of the films (with dates) for which he or she has composed. Details of recordings are also given. The dictionary’s international coverage ensures that it will become a standard reference work for all those interested in the history of twentieth-century music and the development of film.

Book Why Am I so Angry

Download or read book Why Am I so Angry written by Helen Gerondis and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2013-08-22 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about my search for the truth about what caused or contributed to my life- long weight problem. In spite of my consulting doctors, nutritionists, psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, joining Weight Loss organizations and trying numerous diets, nothing had worked. Because my lecturer in his feedback on one of my assignments in a counselling course said if I spent as much time looking at the Inside Helen- as I had on the outside Helen, The weight may come off and stay off I did as he suggested by writing this book. I looked at myself as a Greek Australian baby, schoolgirl, adolescent and adult. I connected with feelings I had previously supressed or repressed. I discovered information about eating disorders and the brain which led me to the confronting but liberating realisation that since childhood I had an undiagnosed Binge Eating Disorder. Later I found this could have been the result of forgott en trauma which had alienated me from myself and other people. Finding the truth and reconciling myself to the past has freed me from eating compulsively. My weight is within the normal BMI range and I weigh less now than I did as a child of eleven.
