Book excerpt: HOW ANGELS FLY By J. L. Montera HEAVEN ... GA 105 To allow for the presence of a guardian angel is to trust in all that cannot be seen. Belief Some Call It Others the Knowing GOD's chief seraphs, the Archangels, are given HIS CALL to assemble Guardian Angels numbers 103 through 130 and renowned in Heaven as GAs. Without delay the GAs gather and flutter about as they wait the call. Their wings create a torrent of air that causes the smallest among them to cast about as they fight to maintain their position in the flock. Hovering outside the cluster, imperfect wings and all, is GA 105. His thought is to wonder why an inept novice like himself has been included in the Call. While waiting the GAs gathered cast about in the cluster and some share heavenly announcements. GA 128 and GA 130 reveal that the life-spans of their earthborn companions had ended. At first Earth Light 128 and 130 had gathered their souls, encircled them with their fine-looking wings and returned to God's Home. GA 119 states-with conviction-"Complex! That's what it is to serve our earthbound companions when they've forgotten their childlike connection to God." GA 116 offers, "Our voice is... The storytelling and gyrating wings are instantly brought to a standstill as the richness of GOD's sacred breath quiets all thought. The instant is etched into the character of those assembled and a sacred moment passes unnoticed on earth. Still casting about to try to manage his mismatched wings and sense The Call, GA 105 tries to get control of his wings. At that very moment 105 is joined with God's Call that he is to be the guardian angel to an earthborn. Whish! Whish! GA 105 tumbles out of control and the more he corrects the worse his dilemma. Using the air current created by beautiful, elegant wings, GA 108 hovers beneath 105 until he regains control. Embarrassed, he hopes to one day learn how other GAs fly so flawlessly. To add to the mix an ancient professorial-looking angel lays his hands on 105's wings that immediately fold without thought. Professor Thistle is neither a guardian angel nor does he have wings. Regardless, he is to teach 105 how to care for a soul as the Professor has and will until the end time. GA 105's preparation is within in Heaven's Gates until deemed ready to protect the soul of the newborn child chosen by God's Call. Heaven's instructions begin. EARTH ... A BABY BOY Without awareness, GA 105 emerges in the nursery of a baby boy named Brendon. He floats above the crib for a moment before realizing he is about to topple over. Off to a bad start, 105 thought. I, the heaven-sent am protector of this earthborn for a lifetime and yet I am still a novice; in spite of what Professor Thistle promised that I am ready. The nursery door opens cutting short his worried thoughts. Grandmother Eugenia smelled apple blossoms as she stepped inside the nursery. Umm, she thought, Brendon's guardian angel must be nearby. GA 105 was so startled by her thought he started descending and pulled up just as his right wing gently touched her cheek. That night, after a full Earth day of visitors, a warm bath and swathed in a yellow baby blanket, Brendon slept. GA 105 settled in the Light of God that still shown about the baby and folded his mismatched wings... Dear Reader: This story is an invitation to discover your Heaven and Earth!

This book was released on 2017-10-03 with total page 586 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Reads like a World War II thriller, only better because every word is true.… One of the great untold stories of history. Robert Gandt has brought it vividly, unforgettably to life.” —Steven Pressfield, best-selling author of Gates of Fire In 1948, when the newly founded nation of Israel came under siege from a coalition of Arab states, a band of volunteer airmen from the United States, Canada, Britain, France, and South Africa arrived to help. They were a small group, fewer than 150. Many were World War II veterans; most of them knowingly violated their nations’ embargoes on the shipment of arms and aircraft to Israel. The airmen risked everything—their careers, citizenship, and lives—to fight for Israel. The saga of the volunteer airmen in Israel’s war of independence stands as one of the most stirring—and little-known—war stories of the past century.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does it take for women to succeed in a male-dominated world? The Grit Factor. At age nineteen, Shannon Huffman Polson became the youngest woman ever to climb Denali, the highest mountain in North America. She went on to reach the summits of Mt. Rainier and Mt. Kilimanjaro and spent more than a decade traveling the world. Yet it was during her experience serving as one of the Army's first female attack helicopter pilots, and eventually leading an Apache flight platoon on deployment to Bosnia-Herzegovina, that she learned the lessons of leadership that forever changed her life. Where did these insights come from? From her own crucibles of experience—and from other women. In writing The Grit Factor, Polson made it her mission to connect with an elite pack of tough, impressive female iconoclasts who shared with her their candid stories of combat and career. This slate of decorated leaders includes Heather Penney, one of the first female F-16 pilots, who was put on a suicide mission for 9/11; General Ann Dunwoody, the first female four-star general in the Army; Amy McGrath, the first female Marine to fly the F/A-18 in combat and a 2020 candidate for the US Senate—and dozens of other unstoppable women who got there first, including Polson herself. These women led at the highest levels in the most complicated, challenging, and male-dominated organization in the world. Now, in the post–#MeToo era, when positive role models of women leading are needed as never before, Polson brings these voices together, sharing her own life lessons and theirs with storytelling flair, keen insight, and incisive analysis of current research. With its gripping narrative and relatable takeaways, The Grit Factor is both inspiring and pragmatic, a book that will energize and enlighten current and aspiring leaders everywhere—whether male or female.

Book Iranian F 14 Tomcat Units in Combat

Download or read book Iranian F 14 Tomcat Units in Combat written by Tom Cooper and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2012-11-20 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: So formidable an opponent did the Iraqi airforce consider the F-14 that during the Iran-Iraq war, they ordered their pilots not to engage F-14s and the presence of one in an area was usually enough to empty it of Iraqi aircraft. Officially losses where tiny; only one F-14 was lost in aerial combat (to a MiG-21), one to a control problem and one downed by a ground-to-air missile. This book looks at the F-14's Iranian combat history and includes first hand accounts from the pilots themselves. It will consider key engagements and the central figures involved, illustrating the realities, successes and failures of the Iranian air campaign.

Book excerpt: The fascinating true story of the controversial development and deployment of the supersonic fighter jet that changed aerial warfare forever The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet was born in 1978, a state-of-the-art supersonic fighter and attack aircraft with a top speed of Mach 1.8, more than one thousand miles per hour. It was versatile, fast, and reliable, and no war machine in the air could match it. The marines adopted it first, followed by the navy, impressed by its incomparable ability to engage in close aerial combat while at the same time efficiently delivering explosive payloads to designated enemy targets. It became the aircraft of choice for the US Navy’s famous Blue Angels flight demonstration squadron in 1986 and served ably in combat from its first mission—America’s launched air strike against Libya that same year—through 1991’s Operation Desert Storm and well beyond. Yet the Hornet has always been shrouded in controversy, and while still in its planning stages, it sparked an unprecedented political battle that nearly doomed the miraculous machine before it could take flight. Orr Kelly, the acclaimed military author who has notably chronicled the remarkable histories of the US Navy SEALs and other branches of America’s Special Forces, tells the fascinating true story of the F/A-18 Hornet—how it came to be, how it almost wasn’t, and how it forever altered the way our nation’s wars are fought.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Explores the relationship between people and angels, through the eyes of the early church. Heaven is closer than we realize. Its boundaries overlap our own, and angels move in and out of our porous present, this moment that seems to us so solid and concrete. If that reality seems dim to us now, it beamed for the early Christians. Through their writings, sermons, songs, and art, the ancient faithful confessed a powerful and vivid belief that angels help carry us on our journey to God. Rooted in the Scripture and following this ancient understanding, Lifted by Angels reveals: the role that angels play in the lives of people and in God’s plan of salvation the different ranks and functions of angels how Satan and his demons fell from grace and plagued humans the functions of guardian angels and how God assigns them to fit our personal needs how guardian angels help us resist evil, temptation, and the devil the way angels join with us in our prayers, even adding their own to ours the service angels provide in worship Featuring examples of angels in ancient icons and frescoes and supported by extensive research on the early church and its pastors, poets, theologians, and artists, Lifted by Angels answers universal curiosity about angels and the unseen world, leaving readers inspired and hopeful about the nearness of God.
