Book Andante E Rondo Ongarese Op 35

Download or read book Andante E Rondo Ongarese Op 35 written by Carl Maria Von Weber and published by Serenissima Music. This book was released on 2018-09-05 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First composed in 1809 as a viola showpiece for his for his step-brother Fritz, Weber's Andante et rondo ongarese remained unpublished in the composer's original settng for decades after the composer's death. In the wake of the touring composer's great success with his Clarinet Concertino of 1811 - composed for Heinrich Baermann, virtuoso clarinetist of the Munich Court Orchestra sortly after the composer's arrival there, the orchestra's bassoonist Georg Friedrich Brandt demanded a concerto for bassoon, which was premiered later the same year - again to great acclaim. In 1813 Brandt asked Weber for another bassoon concerto, so the composer reworked his earlier viola showpiece into the one for bassoon and orchestra which is the version ultimately published and generally known today. This newly engraved edition by Richard W. Sargeant, Jr. corrects the numerous mistakes that are in the parts and presents for the first time a published orchestral score using both the manuscript and the original parts as sources. Download or read book Andante E Rondo Ongarese J 79 written by Carl Maria Von Weber and published by Serenissima Music. This book was released on 2018-09-05 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written in 1809 for his step-brother Fritz for viola and orchestra, Weber's Andante e rondo ongarese was never published in the composer's lifetime. In 1813 when Georg Friedrich Brandt asked for another Bassoon Concerto, the composer reworked it featuring Bassoon as the solo instrument, which is the version published as Op.35 and the one generally known today. Using the holograph manuscript as the authoritative source, Serenissima's newly engraved edition by Richard W. Sargeant, Jr. allows conductors, students and musicians to appreciate the original version composed with a concertante viola in mind, which contrasts with the well-known Op.35 in a number of significant details. Book excerpt: `In all areas of human endeavour, time and again an individual appears who, due to a multitude of personal attributes, elevates his or her field to a hitherto unknown height. Such an individual was William Primrose. His name and the viola are synonymous.' Janos Starker This unique book is the result of a series of conversations with Primrose in the last years before his death in 1982. David Dalton describes how he came to the great artist armed with every question he could think of pertaining to performing on and teaching the viola. The lively dialogue contains a wealth of illuminating advice for the student on the technicalities of playing the viola. It is, however, far more than a technical guide. The two violists discuss the unique position of their instrument - `an instrument without tradition' is Primrose's bald description. They cover the topic of repertoire with fascinating insights into the performance of the great concertos by Bartók and Walton, with which Primrose was so closely associated. Still more invaluable advice emerges from the discussion of Primrose's own experience, on the art of performance, on demeanour on stage, on competitions, on recordings, and on preparing for a career. The book is a tribute to one of the greatest artists of this century.

Book The Art of Bassoon Playing

Download or read book The Art of Bassoon Playing written by William Spencer and published by Alfred Music. This book was released on 1969 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fine bassoon teachers are a rarity in all but cities with major symphony orchestras and/or a university with a distinguished music department faculty. William Spencer took up the challenge of providing material for the serious bassoonist with The Art of Bassoon Playing, published in 1958. With William Spencer's approval, Frederick Mueller took on the task of bringing to notice recent changes in bassoon playing, pedagogy, and manufacture, resulting in revised edition of The Art of Bassoon Playing.
