With a freshly broken heart, her image of love is blurred and she's skeptical about opening up her heart and giving love another shot. Then came Jabari. A handsome mailman who manages to get her attention. His charm and self-confidence coupled with the sexual tension between them make him hard for Shannan to resist him. But when his past comes back and threatens another blow to her heart, Shannan fights back. With her camera and the help of her "ride or die crew", will this photographer capture true love this time? Zaniyah, her younger sister, was enjoying the single life. Then came Brian. As children, they couldn't have been more different. She was the hot, sassy cheerleader all the boys noticed, including Brian. But he was the quiet, awkward nerd boy that she rarely noticed. All grown up now, Z is still a hottie and still has quite the male following. When her date blows her off, Brian, who has gone from nerdy duckling to handsome swan steps in. Infatuated by the man Brian has become, she agrees to a " friends with benefits" relationship, since he's only going to be in town for a short period of time. How was she to know that his kiss would make her mind go blank? That his touch would make her body go limp? Who told her heart to participate in this? Now he has to go and all she wants is for him to stay. Then Came You will make you believe in true love again!

Book excerpt: He doesn't need any trouble. She can't seem to escape it. Detective Daniel "Boone" Buckam is more than burned out. After fourteen stellar years on the job, one bad judgment call-and, fine, a whole lot of cynicism-has forced him into a mandatory vacation in Deep Haven. If he can get his head on straight, there's a job as Police Chief waiting for him back in his Minneapolis suburb. And then, he meets Vivien. Actress Vivien Calhoun isn't really a drama queen. Sure, she gets swept up in the emotions of life-but please, she's an actress. Or, um, was until a stalker made her flee the bright lights of Broadway. Now, she's passionate about directing her local theater production. But when she accidently ropes an uptight police detective on vacation into her cast, she can't help but wonder if he might be the leading man she's always longed for. Boone can't help but like Vivien. He might even have a type-vivacious and bubbly, with a penchant for attracting danger. He can smell trouble even if she can't, and is pretty sure her stalker has hunted her all the way to Deep Haven. He'll have to stay by her side-even if it means being in her silly play-to keep her safe. But Vivien is more than he expected as she helps him discover a part of him he's locked away...the part that said he could never love again. It's summertime in Deep Haven, and the fun is heating up in this laugh-out-loud, charming story.

Will melt many a reader to tears’ TIME Elizabeth Morison is an ordinary woman. Yet, to eight-year-old Bunny, his mother is the centre of his universe. To Robert, her elder son, she is someone he must protect against the dangers of the outside world. And to her husband, James, she is the foundation on which his family rests and life without her is unimaginable. As the dark winter of 1918 dawns and the shadow of Spanish flu starts to disturb day-to-day life, a moving portrait of Elizabeth takes shape, set against the lives and fate of the Morison family. ‘As you read They Came Like Swallows, you catch yourself from time to time being astonished at how tightly you're gripping the pages... There isn't a word that has dated. It could have been written yesterday, or tomorrow’ Nicholas Lezard, Guardian

Book And Then Came the Liberators

Download or read book And Then Came the Liberators written by Albert Jaern and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This book is about me and mine during the war years but that is the way it had to be. . . . I hope that this journal can serve as a journal for many others. Most of all, I hope that the younger generation will find something that they will always remember about tyranny and oppression."--from the foreword by Albert Jærn, 1945 Albert Jærn captures in words and woodcuts the atrocities and indignities Norwegians witnessed during their country's five-year-long occupation by Hitler's forces from 1940 to 1945. Jærn worked as a book illustrator for Aschehoug, a well-known publishing house, where he also produced the cover art for some 500 books. As in this wartime diary, Jærn favored block cuts of wood or linoleum. In simplified lines and surfaces, free of affectation or exaggeration, he captured the point he wished to communicate and managed to make something new each time. Keeping this wartime journal put Jærn in great personal danger. He scrupulously hid this work away in a secret safe, which despite repeated Nazi raids and ransacking of his home, went undiscovered by the occupiers. After peace came to Norway in 1945, the notes and woodcuts were published by Ekko Forlag, which had been shut down by the Nazis during the occupation. Jærn published his diary in the hope that his countrymen would never forget their ordeal. He wanted Norwegians to remember their own confusion and fear as well as the enemies' tyranny and oppression. The book, translated into English for the first time, is a documentation of the occupation and an appreciation of Jærn's artistry and bravery.

A lazy clerk failed to file their divorce paperwork, which means they’re still married. And it also means, as painful as it is, Sam can finally talk to Jeff about the baby she lovingly gave up for adoption when their marriage fell apart. Except… when she knocks on his door, a little girl answers. A little girl who looks a lot like Sam. Jeff’s heart broke when he thought Sam didn’t want the child they’d created together. With passion still burning hot, he’s worried that if they can’t make this work, his little girl will be the one who’s hurt the most.
