Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This story of the modern South, of love denied and love fulfilled, is a powerful account of the potential for violence that underlies this country's passionate history. Ellen Douglas, a native of Mississippi and a prize-winning novelist of rare distinction, reveals the turbulent changes that rocked the South in the sixties and continue to this day. No event is predictable in this powerful novel. A young man who has spent several years in the North returns to his native Mississippi seeking rural peace. But solitude is not to be his, for soon he is caught up again in a traumatic event that happened seven years before in 1964--the death in an auto accident of the beautiful young cousin whom he loved. As the story unfolds, the people who were involved in that senseless tragedy reveal their part in it, and as they do, the reader becomes intensely involved not only in their lives but in what it means to be black or white in the modern South.

Download or read book I CRIED UNTO THE LORD IN MY WILDERNESS THE LORD HEARD MY CRY written by Evelyn Scott Roberts and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2011-10-12 with total page 625 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a book on inspirational concerns and interpretation. It gives the reader a chance to become enlightened, focus and calm about the things that are happening in the world today. We have to have an outlet for understanding the truth about the coming event that is larger than any event that has ever taken place. This event is the coming of Christ. Yes, our Lord and Savior is coming and soon! And we need to prepare ourselves for it through the wisdom and knowledge of being able to cope with the daily issues of life through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The interpretation of God’s word, by man, down through the generations, may have lost some of its depth, but the basic teaching of Christ is still there,so I urge everyone to develop a true relationship with God, individually, and He will fill in the gaps in your life to help you know His truth. He gives all of us the ability to go to Him and get the truth and understanding of His word so that we do not have to depend on another man. This reference book goes a little deeper into God’s realm of infinite glory. It pulls out the no no’s and do not’s that most of us skirt around simply because we do not want to hurt one another. But if your information, to them, is going to be of service to God, it is better for them to hurt for a little while and learn the truth, than to not receive it. Please read this interpretation of the verses with an open heart and mind. It will be through your spirit that you will receive the messages that will be intended for you. God will direct and guide you and let not man be your guide. Because men are going to conveniently interpret the meaning of God’s Word, in the last days, to make their lives easier to live the way they want to live it; a continuum of the ungodly situations, but a different aspect of it. But it says in 2 Corinthians 6:17 and 18- 17 Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be My sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. We are to stop agreeing with, and doing as they do. But walk in the Light of our Savior Jesus Christ and do as God would have you. You cannot live in the world and not come in contact with sinners, but being a child of God, your mind, spirit, thinking, action and speech will change to reflect the God in you. Being a child of God opens us up to all sorts of trials, tests and tribulations as well as the many blessings that God showers on us every day. The trials, tests and tribulations comes to strengthen us in the word and work of God and to help us grow in or relationship with God. The blessings are the reward for being faithful in our service and going through our trials and tribulations; doing it with praise to our God and reverence to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Yes, God rewards/show us His faithfulness in His Promise to never leave or forsake us and also His unconditional love. The blessings are the “well done” thy good and faithful servant or the rewards God bestows on us for being faithful while going through our trials and tribulations and doing well or the best we can. God put a stamp of approval and a reminder that His promises are true. Every day we ask for miracles but we are not ready to do what God says in order to receive them. The price you pay for God’s Blessings and eternal life is to do His will. When you come to the crossroads in your life, carefully weigh the situations and circumstances that brought you there. Hopefully, with these verses, you will be enlightened. And through them God will give you the direction to take the road on the RIGHT.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nat Stonebridge is a thirtyish divorcee who, because of her sexy good looks and incorruptible disregard for convention, has stayed in trouble most of her life. Stranded at home in Philippi, a small town in the Mississippi Delta, after a divorce from her well-to-do husband, she is broke, bored, and unconcerned for anyone except herself. Looking for excitement, she becomes involved with Floyd Shotwell, the strange, solitary son of a rich and ruthless businessman. By turns ironic and funny and threatening as the raw land in which it takes place, the couple's story moves toward a violent climax in which not only Nat's physical safety, but the financial security of her family, are at stake. Douglas explores the theme of moral commitment as Nat is confronted with a decision, a sacrifice, which she knows will earn her only contempt. In turn, her friend, the gentle and reflective Wilburn Griffith, is forced to face the obsessive Shotwell with a weapon he abhors.
