This is extremely concerning, because many people are living hopeless and apathetic lives. Deep down inside, people want their lives to count, to matter, and to be worth something. People want their lives to have meaning and are searching for the keys to find inner peace and happiness. Throughout our journey, we unfortunately make life more complicated than it needs to be, because we believe our purpose gives us our identity. To say the least, it should be the other way around, because we must discover who we are within in order to find our purpose. When we discover who we are, we will find happiness, and this will lead us down the road of success. Unfortunately people are led to believe that success will bring them happiness, but this is far from the truth. Download or read book Overcomer written by Dorsey Ross and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2016-03-31 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: He was considered a surprise birth with his parents, a couple in their forties who had two grown daughters and were seen as past the child-bearing age. When he was born, the doctors believed he wouldn't survive due to his life-threatening disabilities. Yet, now approaching the age his parents were when they had him, author Dorsey Ross has lived a life dedicated to serving the Lord and encouraging others to not let their disabilities define the impacts they can make. His new autobiography, Overcomer, details the challenges Dorsey faced, as well as those of his family, when he was diagnosed with Apert Syndrome: a genetic disorder that causes abnormal shaping of the skull and face, as well as other birth defects. Pressured by doctors to place Dorsey into an institution, with a belief he would be brain dead soon, his parents decided to take Dorsey home and do what they could to help his life thrive: even if it meant having to endure sixty-eight surgeries for his face, head and hands. What his parents instilled in Dorsey, and what he bestows to others now, is that God brought these challenges into Dorsey's life as part of a chosen purpose in God's eternal plan. Even though he dealt with bullying at school and work, underwent more surgeries than any one will ever experience and even had feelings of suicide during desperate times, Dorsey still believed God had a plan amidst the chaos. Overcomer not only shares Dorsey's extraordinary story with readers, but is also written to influence readers' beliefs in where God may be leading them. His path led into involvement with ministry, while others could be placed in situations requiring them to not let disadvantages hinder their progress. Some may have given up on Dorsey's future, but he knew his future was well cared for in the hands of his Heavenly Father."
Download or read book The Day Ain t Over Yet written by Todd Michael Gent and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2021-11-23 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In February 1992 Todd and Coby Gent went to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, so Coby could be evaluated for, and hopefully have, a double-lung transplant. Transplants were a new way to prolong the lives of cystic fibrosis patients, and this major surgery was Coby’s only hope for living beyond his twelve years. Todd, Coby’s dad, kept a journal from day one of the Gent family’s journey from borrowed lungs to new life. The journals include other patients from all over the country awaiting transplants. Coby, at twelve, was the youngest among others in their twenties, thirties, and forties. Tricia and Casey, Todd’s wife and daughter, respectively, remained in their hometown of Wylie, Texas, and traveled back and forth to North Carolina during the transplant process. Todd Gent had not read these journals since he wrote them in 1992, but his daughter brought them out in order to publish them by the thirtieth anniversary of Coby’s double-lung transplant. The journals prove that Coby made it count.

Download or read book Michael Mitchell Criminal Or Rescuer written by Patricia Marie Mitchell and published by Patricia Marie Mitchell. This book was released on 2008-06 with total page 79 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What will Hurricane Michael' bring to the shores of Florida in the year 2012, geographical coincidence, or certain judgment? In March, 2005, my son, without telling anyone went to Florida. His objective was to rescue Terri Schiavo. In July of that same year, he turned 21 in a cold and lonely Clearwater jail cell, where, among other things he was made to sit in a chair for 25 hours straight, and like Terri, went without food himself for 7 days. In his bitterness and in his desperation, he prayed that God would send a storm to where he was. To most this was simply a legal matter. To me the People of the State of Florida vs. Michael Mitchell' became a Declaration of War'. If Governor Bush himself had tried to bring Terri so much as a cup of cold water to wet her lips he would have had to bring the National Guard with him. That, for all practical purposes, would have meant civil war'. I said, in a letter to the Public Defender, "There is a Wonderful Counselor who has never lost a case, and in the end He will vindicate my son." After more than a year behind bars, Michael is free on probation because the Public Defender was true to his word, and I thank God for that. But the thing about hurricanes is that when they are particularly devastating, their names are retired and they are given new names. As I left Florida, I heard a radio announcer say that one chosen in 2005 was Michael'. I have not been able to verify that information, but Wikipedia does say that Hurricane Michael will rise from the Atlantic in 2012. A co-incidence? Read this book and decide for yourself. How far do you go to save an innocent woman ́s life? When I heard about Terry Schiavo's plight and how heartbroken her parents were, I silently prayed that God would send somebody to help them. I had NO idea that my son would be among those who would respond to the call. Neither did I know of the extent to which he would go. On the day that he was arrested he made a statement that was heard around the world. He said, "If you're not on Terry's side, you're not on God's side." I'm not saying that there aren't two sides to every story. This is our side; I know there are others. I still recall the horrible incident in the news more than 20 years ago, when a policeman used his firearm to hold off hospital attendants so that he could remove his baby girl from life-support after she had been rendered practically lifeless by swallowing part of a birthday balloon. He had been told that if she lived she would be a vegetable. So with gun in hand and tears flowing down his face, he held her in his arms until she died, because he didn't want her to be faced with that kind of existence. Fifty years ago, Rockford had two hospitals that were adjacent. I still recall the incident of a Rockford woman who in the throws of her labor pains, became disgruntled with one hospital because they either didn't believe her baby was ready to come, or for some other reason were being, as the story is told, "particularly insensitive". That woman walked across the parking lot to the other hospital where her baby was born practically on the spot. That baby was my little sister, and the woman was my mother, and that incident has always helped me to believe that hospitals are not always right. Terry Schiavo's feeding tube was removed once before; however it was restored by the order of the Governor of the State of Florida. If I were Terry's mother, I would like to say that I would have never given them a second chance to remove that tube, that I would have found another place for her, hopefully, where they believed a little bit more in the sanctity of life, and were able to help me fight for that belief, especially in this particular case. For my baby I would like to say that I would not only reach out to touch the hem of Jesus' garment, but I would grab hold of his ankle and hold on so that he would have to

Download or read book Shepherd of Hermas written by Daniel F. Owsley and published by Booktango. This book was released on 2013-08-23 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Shepherd of Hermas – Commandments and Parables is a former Bible book from the second century that stresses that “Without love a man's heart is parched and cracked as the bottom of a dry well and his words are empty as a hollow gourd.” And this red letter Agrapha version weaves in hundreds of proven sayings of Christ from many ancient sources such as: “It is more blessed to give than to receive, therefore let your alms sweat in your hands until you know to whom to give it to. And as you pray, ask for the great things; but be content if only the little things are added unto you.” So be blessed by a multitude of the Lord's sayings like: “He that is greedy of riches is like one who drinks water from the sea. The more he drinks, the more his thirst increases; and he does not cease drinking until he perishes.” And truly I say unto anyone who has worldly hunger: The words of this book shall be a barren buffet; but to those who seek the Bread of Life they offer a true feast. Simply an amazing book therefore, especially considering the years of reasearch behind it. Jesus also said, " Neither can people who are like dry canals, ever be made to be a partaker of My living waters; nor can death be found in those who live for me, just as life can not be found in those who die daily to all that is morally good. " So please partake of this offering: For it shall bring forth scads of latter rain into the souls of any who are tired of a spiritual drought.
Download or read book The Pathway Into the Overcomer s Walk written by Betty Miller and published by Christ Unlimited Ministries. This book was released on 2003-12-12 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE PATHWAY INTO THE OVERCOMER'S WALK deals with several thorny theological issues that eventually will need to be addressed as believers continue in the pathway of an overcomer. Overcomers are encouraged to take a teachable attitude before the Lord being willing to have our previous teachings corrected if the Word of God brings us into new light on certain controversial subjects. This book looks at some of these subjects such as "Can a Christian lose his salvation?" and "What is the sin of blaspheming the Holy Spirit?" We are challenged as overcomers to look to the Holy Spirit as our teacher and prove all our theology by the Word of God and not just accept the teachings of men whom we admire or respect. THE PATHWAY INTO THE OVERCOMER'S WALK also looks at what the overcomer's rewards will be and encourages all to press on toward the prize of the high calling in Christ Jesus.
Download or read book Apocalypse Survival written by T. Gordon Larsen and published by Dog Ear Publishing. This book was released on 2016-01-28 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a manual for Evangelical Christians who anticipate the “second coming” of Jesus Christ and understand that they may be called upon to endure some of the hardships of the End Times. It takes the genre of survival literature up a notch by addressing the moral, ethical and doctrinal questions that Christians should consider in planning for existential challenges in an uncertain future. The author doesn’t “reinvent the wheel” on common survival issues, but covers items of interest to Believers who want to develop a survival strategy that deals with the world as they find it, yet is consistent with their faith. Among these are: Does charity really “begin at home?” Is it righteous to use lethal force in defense of yourself and others? Does subscribing to the Pre-Tribulation Rapture mean that Believers need not be concerned about coping with the End Times?
