Book And God Said To Me Do the part of it you love to do

Download or read book And God Said To Me Do the part of it you love to do written by Cecelia McLeod and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2009-08-18 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sometimes God has to slow us down enough to navigate the turn that will put us on the path to complete the tasks for which we were created. A stroke that cut off the signals from my brain to my right side was that blessing He chose to enrich my life. This is the first in the series of gratitude journals, written after I survived that stroke. Learning that strokes did not only happened to “old folks”; imperfection is not a sign of weakness; and tears, not always a sign that I had chosen to be unhappy; gave me a new outlook on life. The challenges of being a Caregiver and overcoming guilt were lessons well learned. But through it all, God sent me “Earthly Angels” to walk with me and show me love. And best of all, He walked and talked with me all the way. When the Spirit inspired me to write this series of journals, I was urged to “connect the dots” between the events of my life. Then I would see how God had caused things to happen for my greater good. More than 6 years later, I was given the word to go ahead and share these journals and let you see for yourself how God works things out. Instead of “connecting the dots” for you, I simply left it as it had been recorded to let you see the movement of God, probably in places that I hadn’t even noticed. But it was not until I truly said “Yes” to God, and gave up some old things, could I begin to flow in His will. I have found that God will not let us rest until we obey. But obedience brings with it such sweet peace that it is well worth it.

Book Gospel Centered Discipleship Foreword by Matt Chandler

Download or read book Gospel Centered Discipleship Foreword by Matt Chandler written by Jonathan K. Dodson and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2022-03-03 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Gospel-Rich, Reproducible Model for Making Disciples as Jesus Intended Biblical discipleship emphasizes encouragement, repentance, and spiritual growth—essential parts of the Christian life. However, well-meaning believers often struggle to follow Jesus, unaware their views are too legalistic, licentious, or individualistic. How can churches and Christians develop a healthy, successful path to disciple-making? In this second edition of Gospel-Centered Discipleship, Jonathan Dodson presents an effective, Spirit-led model for sanctification. Reminding readers that real discipleship is imperfect yet transformational, Dodson encourages Christians to engage more authentically with others as they grow in faith. Drawing from his own failures and successes while following Jesus, Dodson defines discipleship, describes the heart of a disciple, and gives practical guidance for mentor and peer-based discipleship as Jesus intended. Revised and Expanded: Includes three new chapters and new illustrations Applicable: Shows how discipleship can be practical and gospel-centered Theological: Addresses the Holy Spirit's involvement in discipleship Foreword by Matt Chandler: Author of The Explicit Gospel

Book The Return of the Prodigal Son

Download or read book The Return of the Prodigal Son written by Henri J. M. Nouwen and published by Image. This book was released on 2013-11-20 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With over a million copies sold, this classic work is essential reading for all who ask, “Where has my struggle led me?” A chance encounter with a reproduction of Rembrandt’s The Return of the Prodigal Son catapulted Henri Nouwen on an unforgettable spiritual adventure. Here he shares the deeply personal and resonant meditation that led him to discover the place within where God has chosen to dwell. As Nouwen reflects on Rembrandt’s painting in light of his own life journey, he evokes a powerful drama of the classic parable in a rich, captivating way that is sure to reverberate in the hearts of readers. Nouwen probes the several movements of the parable: the younger son’s return, the father’s restoration of sonship, the elder son’s resentfulness, and the father’s compassion. The themes of homecoming, affirmation, and reconciliation will be newly discovered by all who have known loneliness, dejection, jealousy, or anger. The challenge to love as God loves, and to be loved as God’s beloved, will be seen as the ultimate revelation of the parable known to Christians throughout time, and is here represented with a vigor and power fresh for our times.

Early on, she practiced the most effective treatments and prescribed them for her clients. But when she experienced depression herself, she found that the treatments she had recommended were lacking. Her experience showed her the missing component in treating depression. In Hope Prevails, Dr. Bengtson writes with deep compassion, blending her training and faith, to offer readers a hope grounded in God's love and grace. She helps readers understand what depression is, how it affects them spiritually, and what, by God's grace, it cannot do. Book excerpt: What if the key to changing your life--and yourself--is already in your hand? So many women struggle with what to do with their daily lives. They feel trapped in everyday drudgery and disappointment, in dull domestic duties, and in mundane jobs they despise. Where is the abundant, purposeful life they were promised? Kari Patterson shows readers the truth: in each unremarkable life lies an opportunity to see, know, love, and be utterly transformed by a God who meets everyone right where they are. Instead of stepping away from real life to find God, Patterson equips women with a six-step practice to move further in and meet Him in the humdrum moments of everyday existence. And when a woman's inner being is truly changed by the sacred, everything in her world changes too--right down to tackling the dirty dishes. Through entertaining narrative, candid real-life stories, Bible study, and practical instruction, Sacred Mundane guides individuals or small groups to discover the beautiful sacredness in the lives they already lead. Women who long to grow in God and make a real difference in the world--no matter how small--will reach eagerly for this book and the radical transformation it offers. "Our daily routine, with its mundane tasks and mindless repetition, is ultimately an offering of worship to God. What a great truth from a great God!" --Ann Byle, author of The Making of a Christian Bestseller and coauthor of Devotions for the Soul Surfer

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To love God is to cherish and esteem God with your whole being - spirit, soul, and body. It is to keep His Word and Commandments, and also to serve Him with your whole heart. To love God is to put God first before any other person or thing, and to not offend or displease God because of any person, desire, or thing. How do we prove that we love God? We show and prove that we love God by keeping His Word and Commands. If we say that we love Him, but do not obey what He tells us to do, where then is the Love of God in us? Another way, by which we prove our love for God and to Him, is by serving Him and seeking for the wellbeing of His Kingdom. Next, if you love God and really love Him, the love that you have for God will keep you from doing certain things, saying certain things, and behaving certain ways. This is no joke! If your Christian life is the one in which you yourself determine and decide what to obey and what not to obey, then you do not love God.

Two years later, after numerous appointments with a psychiatrist and psychologist and taking medications, she experienced a miraculous and medically documented healing. God restored her broken and confused heart and uses the miracle to inspire you to believe and accept His hand to move in your place of need. To help people with similar problems, the author shares her personal story of physical, emotional, and spiritual experiences, as well as her emerging understanding about the roots of her struggles. After ChrystalÕs healing more than 12 years ago, God led her to start an organization dedicated to the message ministry of transformation, Emerging Life Ministry Solutions. The ministry equips those desiring a deeper revelation of Christ and helps people journey through some of lifeÕs hardest places of pain, hurt, and trauma. Community initiatives to Òat-risk youthÓ are also a part of the vision and outreach of Emerging Life Solutions. ItÕs not a self-help thingÑitÕs a God thing. Also discussed is how the Church can more effectively help those struggling with depression and other emotional and mental illnesses. A key lesson to be learned is the redemptive purpose that suffering can have in your life.
